I feel that one of my favorite items to farm was the Tabard of the Scarlet Crusade. I had heard some horror stories on how hard it was to farm and how many tries I might have to go through to get it to drop for me so what is a good 70 Prot Warrior to do? I ran guildies through at 2g each. I got at least two groups of guildies through that level range before it dropped so that must have been a ton of runs but it never dropped as I had loot on to roll for it. At least I got it and helped out some guild friends at the same time. Yay for Championing now!
By far the most epic item I've ever got was Thunderfury. Way way back when Molten Core was brand new, I was part of a guild alliance as the MT. It was three guilds, because nobody could get enough players for a run with just one guild. We got to Garr, and with only 2 warlocks in the raid, managed to kill him using ridiculous strategies with warriors swapping targets and healing voidwalkers. We must of spent 2 hours just on that boss. We killed him, the server first, after all that hard work. Then the left binding dropped. Nobody had any idea what it did, so everyone in the raid who could use it rolled (warriors, hunters, rogues, paladins.) I rolled a 100 and took it, having no idea what it did.I started the quest and took the item to Silithus. At the time, nobody knew what it did, because prior to the next patch, you couldn't complete it. So I hung onto my server-first legendary item, rotting in my bag for a long time. I read the WoW forums everyday looking for news about what it did, but none came up besides a few speculation threads. When patch 1.6 came out, it because possible to complete the quest. I still didn't have my left binding, but now we knew what it did. I learned that you had to acquire 10 elementium bars, and I went about the long, difficult process of farming 100 arcanite bars. I ran around Winterspring forever on my crappy non-epic 60% speed mount mining thorium veins hoping for an arcane crystal. After weeks of this, I ended up with 100 arcane crystals, and would stand around in Ironforge all day spamming trade chat asking for alchemists to do transmusions for me.My guild continued to progress, we cleared BWL and then waiting for AQ40. Clearing MC every week, we moved into AQ40, still lacking for ever seeing a left-binding. We cleared AQ40 (except for C'Thun who gave us problems for months.) Naxx came out, The Burning Crusade expansion was known to be just a few months away, and I still didn't have my binding. It was decided that clearing MC was no longer a guild priority, and runs stopped. I did what I could, running with other guilds or PUGs in a desperate attempt to find my left binding, but to no avail. My guild cleared up through Naxx, and we were stuck on the 4 Horsemen. After a long night of attempts and being unable to kill them, the guild went out to farm the massive amounts of consumables necessary to progress through Naxx. Sometime that night, someone said "hey, lets do MC." I jumped right on, and after about 30 minutes of finding random people in the guild and close friends, we went in.We ended up with about 18 people, I think. Most of us in T3 gear or better, so it wasn't that hard. But it was ridiculous. I was the only tank. We killed Lucifron, had a hard time with Mag because there were no hunters in the raid to tranquil shot. Then we went over and killed Geddon, after struggling with not having enough decursers. I tanked Garr and all of his adds, except for one that the only warlock in the raid banished. It was hard, but everyone was on Ventrilo laughing and having a good time. Then, Geddon. The only way to do it was for me to put on full FR gear. We pulled him, wiped twice because of people messing around with bombs, then killed him on the 3rd try.My left binding dropped. I was so estatic. It was my happiest night in WoW ever. After literally years of trying to get that item, having everything else necessary to get my Thunderfury, there it was. I grabbed it immediately, and my raid triumphantly marched into Silithus. We killed Thunderaan, and I finally, after years, got my Thunderfury. We went to every capital city and did a victory lap. My friend gave me crusader for free. It was wonderful. Thunderfury was only the best tank weapon in the game for a few more weeks after I got it, but I love that sword and I'll never let it go. That was definitely my most epic (or legendary) drop.
Probably my son.I was sleeping and got wife aggro about 3 months ago. After training her to the hospital, we hit her with a tranquilizing shot in her back and she dropped an epic son. We named him Toryn. His name totally has nothing to do with WoW, either... She doesn't even really care for the game.
My most epic drop ever was Terrestian's Stranglestaff, I had waited through 22 Illhoof kills, and a good number of weeks where we didn't do it, as well as the torture of seeing warriors, hunters, priests, and even a warlock using it with ridiculous enchants like Icy, Fiery, and Unholy. When it finally dropped it was immediately master looted to me. That was definitely my most epic loot drop.
When i first bought wow, i made a druid and got him to 50, after that i started a rogue and soon got him to about 20. In barrens i killed this pig guy for a quest and got feet of the lynx, this lasted me many levels, ill never forget this
When I got my Plagueheart Ring from Kel'Thuzad in Naxxramas 40.
This was back in classic wow when I was a new raider. I had actually just had come back to the game after a long break. Due to boredom, I had decided to toss in my mage for a gnome rogue. The chose gnome rogue because I just thought they didn't get enough respect and I wanted to hopefully change the opinions of some people. Anyways, I was lucky enough to get into an MC raiding guild that my friend was an officer in. It was my first time ever in MC and I was totally nervous the entire time. I was constantly whispering my friend questions and I wanted to make a good impression to secure my spot in the guild. We made our way to Garr and the fight was sloppy. Long story short... everyone was dead, it was just me and Garr, was at at 1% or so. I popped my evasion, pounded away at my skills, preperation, second evasion, and due to some divine intervention, I made it through and finished Garr off. I was the hero that day to say the least. I made a great impression and I ended up securing a raid spot in that guild for many more months to come. My epic loot that night was my gutgore ripper from Garr which was the beginning of my beloved combat backstab career.
Here's my ordinary epic drop story-when my rogue was around lvl.. 54 I think I was killing those yeti things when one dropped a http://www.wowhead.com/?item=943. Man oh man was I excited. I didn't have a druid so I had no use for it, but I happened to know it was going for a pretty penny on AH. Plus, it was my first epic.
