Who on God's green earth would hire this guy?
Another Blizzard employee leaving... just like an all companies... people come and go. Stop overreacting everyone. Jez It's not like Blizzard didn't make millions in some capacity or another with ESports.
Making a sport out of an RPG results in a cosplay-contest or LARP battle, trying to force it ingame as a sport is a doomed endeavour from the start... Good riddance to this guy for seeing the writing on the wall and pursuing new and better opportunities instead.
Add me to the list of people who hated wow eSports. I actually am a fan of eSports in general, even though I no longer play, league worlds are pretty fun to me. That's the thing as others have said, you need a game that's actually fun to watch. Even when I was pvping, arena was never fun to watch, and for the longest time they were balancing the entire game over eSports. Spriests lowest dps in raid? Too bad, still getting a nerf because of 3s burst.Every class had to have some form of the same utility, classes got homogenized, they were afraid to do anything particularly radical or fun, because eSports balance.Wows decline I'm sure is due to many many factors, but I personally don't think forcing esports helped.
This is actually good news.
Maybe they'll get someone who will stop PvP gearing being a thing and properly separate PvP balancing from PvE balancing. Making abilities and effects more spectator-friendly would be a bonus so we're not just watching the UI.
