Occasionally while working towards finishing the common Mogu artifacts, you actually end up completing a 'Pristine' version of the artifact instead. Hand in the subsequent quest at the Seat of Knowledge in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms (there is nothing else that needs to be done) and you'll receive one Mogu Statue Piece and 3x Restored Artifact (which is an archaeological currency for MoP).

The location 'The Seat of Knowledge' for all hand-ins to Lorewalker Cho is above the Mogu'shan Palace in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms and can only be accessed with flying.

Getting ALL Pandaren and Mogu 'Pristine' artifacts will also earn you the achievement The Seat of Knowledge.

It's also worth noting that while you can accept these 'Pristine' quests at level 85 (as soon as you get the quest item), you physically cannot reach the area you need to hand in at until you're 90 or unless you get a level 90 friend with a two-person flying mount to taxi you up there. You'll already know this, if you've managed to leg it into the zone (like me) and stood mere inches away from the hand in, with no ability to actually get to it. Lock summons can also do the trick here (this is also the part where we lament the good old days of mass summoning). Otherwise, be patient and wait till you're big and bad enough to do it yourself!

The following is a list of all possible 'Pristine' Mogu artifacts:

Warlord's Branding Iron can instead become Pristine Branding Iron which gives you Pristine Branding Iron
Edicts of the Thunder King can instead become Pristine Edicts of the Thunder King which gives you Pristine Edicts of the Thunder King
Iron Amulet can instead become Pristine Iron Amulet which gives you Pristine Iron Amulet
Manacles of Rebellion can instead become Pristine Manacles of Rebellion which gives you Pristine Manacles of Rebellion
Mogu Coin can instead become Pristine Mogu Coin which gives you Pristine Mogu Coin
Cracked Mogu Runestone can instead become Pristine Mogu Runestone which gives you Pristine Mogu Runestone
Worn Monument Ledger can instead become Pristine Monument Ledger which gives you Pristine Monument Ledger

Be sure to read the nice plaque description of each pristine item once you turn it in for display at the Seat of Knowledge. The lore and backstory are interesting:

Terracotta Arm

When the Mogu had exhausted their options for enslaved mortal warriors, they turned their attention to creating armies of animated constructs to do their fighting for them. Because these terracotta warriors would sometimes sit dormant for centuries, it is hard to pinpoint exactly when this one was constructed or used. However, scoring at the base of the severed arm indicates that it was felled in combat.

Since there is a Quest for each pristine artifact, you can use a macro command to check if you've already completed each quest.

For the Pristine Terracotta Arm / Pristine Terracotta Arm:

/run print(IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(31788))
A result of 1 means that you have done it already, and "nil" means you haven't completed it yet.

Or you can go visit The Seat of Knowledge in The Vale of Eternal Blossoms, and stroll around the museum exhibit to view all your completed pristine artifacts.

Or (lazy bones) open your Achievements panel and view your progress on The Seat of Knowledge.
