To get Polvere di Stigia you need buy the item Stygia Dowser. Looks like you might need to be exalted/appreciative with Ve'nari to purchase it.

Stygia Dowser is sold by Ve'nari in The Maw for 1500x Stygia.

The Stygia Dowser is an item that stays in your bags and allows you to search for Stygia Nexuses. Stygia Nexus are small balls of green energy, reminiscent of engineering motes from past expansions. Stygia Nexuses are usually in areas that are hard to reach, such as behind hordes of mobs, deep inside caves, or in areas only reached via grappling with the Animated Levitating Chain Ve'nari upgrade.
Stygia Dowser allows you to track Stygia Nexus on the minimap, and when used nearby a Nexus, it will drain it, granting you a small amount of Stygia, as well as some Polvere di Stigia and Scheggia di Stigia.

I've been using the Stygia Dowser to farm the Stygia Nexus clouds. On average I seem to be getting about 1-2 Polvere di Stigia and 1-2 Scheggia di Stigia per cloud. At this rate it's looking like approximately 150-200 Stygia Nexus clouds to obtain the minimum 200 dust and 200 sliver needed for 20 Lingotto di Stigia.

Annoying like hell to farm these 200 Polvere di Stigia and Scheggia di Stigia.

You cant do that in group, just one of your group can loot the cloud! It disappears after one guy got it. Why?

The Stygia Dowser you cant use while moving, if u stay still - its just says the whole time "not in range".

I get it, its for a mount and shouldnt be "for free" but .... come on... it isnt fun to farm for hours in the maw, even if you could. After 1 Hour and gettin 3 of the clouds i got 3 Jailor Eyes in that time.... And i need 150 more clouds .... so gg....

Grinding towards 200 Dust/Sliver. Here's what I've learned so far.
25-30 sliver and dust an hour average (2hrs = 56dust, 51slivers). Ungodly amounts of time just finding them, then just finding out how to get to them once you do spot them on the map.

Grapple is heavily needed given where they placed them.
Most others are on sharp rock-ends that are everywhere.
Fewest seem to just be lying about, ground level.
First to Nexus, first to get. Will give you an error if you try to absorb while being absorbed by another person.
If you steal a Shadehound, do NOT run up to a Nexus and use the Dowser. Dismiss first. It'll start the absorb as you dismount, then cancel it almost every time and the Nexus poofs.

They CAN despawn on you. They seem to have a spawn similar to chests/ore/herbs.
You'll get a few Stygia per absorb too.
Absorbing Nexus' I think adds the minimal to Eye as possible. Ended up with 1 tier per 100 Nexus I'd say.

And on that note, don't do this at Eye 2+. Far more annoying, particularly if you want to sit around for respawns.
Wouldn't recommend it when you're Rescuing Souls either (map clutter obscuring nodes).

The absorb range is pretty decent, you don't need to be on top of it - will help avoid aggro. Aside from cancelling the absorb yourself, your absorb will be uninterrupted even if you're being beat on. Haven't tested with mobs that have stuns/etc tho, but you can run in, absorb, get out.

88dust, 80 slivers after 3hrs with a more static farm area now (less travel, circling an area instead) so average slightly up (will test more). I also want to say they have a shorter mini-map visible range than ore/herbs/chests. Which isn't helping. Spawn locations are definitely static so eventually Handynotes/etc will have them all.

Took roughly 6hours total to farm 200/200. If you get lucky and your amounts are more even, maybe less (I was 16 slivers short by the time I had 200 dust). I farmed almost entirely in Beastwarrens. My route was: Stay up on the cages above Hunt:Shadehounds spawn (lazy camping spot for sure!). Lots of nodes in the area (on cages, on floor, in caves) but you need to traverse the grapples back and forth to see them (short map range) - seems 2-3 max up at a time here. When you get a few, go down, steal a Shadehound, do a loop on the roadways around the Hunt areas (I typically would see 2-3 Nexus' in that time) and by then, respawns at the Hunt:Shadehounds spot. I do think that they respawn faster if more people are nabbing them. Had competition, but didn't seem to affect average.

If you haven't done the Runed Chest, do it asap because if you fail, at least you're farming during the 2hr debuff! I missed 1 swap, and it booted me, literally. Have Gliders ready or GTF off the platform before you get punted by the neutral elite that shows up.

Possibly anecdotal but during the evening of 03/11 I'm getting 4+ items (dust + slivers) per node compared to 0-2 during the morning. NA server.

Day 1 of farming. I was farming 4 nodes for the dust and steek and they seemed to respawn 1min - 30 minutes until into the afternoon they took much longer, up to an hour or more before seeing any of these four respawn, I am moving and can see all four so I know when someone else gets them too. Now, day 2, I have been on for an hour, not a single one of these nodes are popping. Blizz decide farming for a couple days isn't enough, they gotta make it worse?

Best location to farm is the cave at 54.2 79.3, there are 5 respawn points inside the cave, three at upper level, two at lower level. After you absorbed one of them, another one will respawn shortly.

I recorded the locations of Stygia Nexuses I found while collecting the materials for the Bound Shadehound. (copying this comment to other pages so the information is easy to find).

This is not an exhaustive list but should be enough to get anyone started on their search.

Some tips/suggestions:

1. DO NOT MOVE while channeling the Nexus or you will not get the full amount of materials and still despawn it.

2. Only one player can loot each Nexus. Use a low-pop server, or warmode if you're feeling confident to secure spawns.

3. Rogue, Hunter, Mage, Druid are the best classes to collect these on. A lot of the spawns are behind/surrounded by enemies, so if you aren't one of those classes, I recommend bringing some invisibility potions.

4. Buy the grappling hook upgrade if you haven't already: many of the spawns are on top of pillars only accessible by grappling.

5. Steal shadehounds, use goblin gliders, movement abilities, and anything else you can think of to get around faster. Use the chaotic riftstones upgrade and look out for spawns along your path. Also, buy the Ve'nari teleport and use it as needed, it will save you a lot of time.

6. Start with a fresh Eye of the Jailer. The nexuses contribute toward increasing its level, and you don't want to be bombarded by towers or harassed by assassins for hours on end.

7. The node marks on the minimap are only visible when you are close to the spawn, so check each coordinate carefully. The tomtom map point may also block the spawn point visually, so remove waypoints as you check them.

8. Find a circular path that works for you. I would go from the sanctuary through the beastwarrens, take the bridge to perdition hold and check every point there, and then check between Zovaal's Cauldron and the Tremaculum.

As explained in Bound Shadehound Mount - Craftable Maw Mount in Patch 9.0.5 by Neryssa, you will need to craft Armored Husk.

Requeriments for Armored Husk:

1 x Stygia Dowser (Buyed from Ve'nari for 1500 Stygia, which allows you to track Stygia Nexus on the minimap.
1 x Soulforger's Tools (Dropped from Soulforger Rhovus after you fully translate the Rune Codex).
20 x Lingotto di Stigia
200 x Polvere di Stigia
200 x Scheggia di Stigia

Best place to farm Stygia Nexus:

Place: The Beastwarrens (You will need Access to the Beastwarrens).
Coords: 58,79 (Cave entrance).
Spawn time: From instant, to ~5 min.
Spent time: Getting all the 200 items for each material took me about 4-5 hours, with another player farming.

Once inside, you can stay aprox. at 56,60, where you can check all the posible spams of Stygia Nexus, there are five possible spawns:

66,55 (Up, just right where you're staying).
43,68 (Up, just left where you're staying).
53,66 (Up, a little more left where you're staying).
45,67 (Down, to the left).
67,55 (Down, to the right).

Therefore, there are some Stygian Cache, where you can loot some Stygia (Between 40-60 each cache), I saw two spots:

37,79 (Up, left, near the wall, close to the Stygia Nexus spawn point at 53,66).
46,67 (Down, behind a pillar, close to the Stygia Nexus spawn point at 45,67).

Such a happy farming ....

-each node gives 1-2 silvers/dusts which means its a long way to the goal, Beastwarens is the best area for it though
-you aggro the mobs around the green clouds and when you kill them , there is another player already clicking
-mobs at the bottom keep attacking you even you are grippled up high

Tip : when you get close to the node with mobs close or not, start clicking the q item even at range(must be 1-2 yrds not sure) , their attack wont interrupt the channeling and after that you are free to kill them.

This item is part of the Bound Shadehound mount. Collecting 200 of Polvere di Stigia (along with 200 Scheggia di Stigia ) is the longest part.

Pre-requisites: Be Appreciated by Ve'nari, have 3,500 Stygia, have learned Animated Levitating Chain. Helpful: Words of Warding is active because of Assassin's Soulcloak

Buy Stygia Dowser for 1,500 Stygia
Go to Domination Keep in Perdition Hold (approx at 23.0, 68.4), and grapple up 1 level. Go to the left, and go up the stairs to a second hook at about 24.0, 75.5.
Use your extra action button and solve the Rune Puzzle to get Crumbling Stele by making the runes above the chest match the runes on the spikes. Spike #1 was to your left grappling up and goes clockwise. You have limited attempts before being locked out for two hours. If this happens, use the time to farm
Return to Ve'nari and buy Partial Rune Codex for 2,000 Stygia.
Retrieve Rune Codex Page: Forging from the cave in the Beast Warrens located at 48.8, 84.7. The page is in the back left.
Retrieve Rune Codex Page: Souls from Perdition Hold located at 27.2, 72.3.
Retrieve Rune Codex Page: Binding from Tremaculum at 24.6,12.67. The teleport up is at 27.6,17.3.

Pet Stray Soul in the River of souls to get Anima di Lupo Volenterosa. Go against the current and you'll eventually find him.
Kill the rare Soulforger Rhovus to get Soulforger's Tools
Spend the next 2 - 8 hours of your life farming 200 Polvere di Stigia and 200 Scheggia di Stigia. The Stygia Dowser will allow you to see Stygia Nexus on the minimap. On the ground these look like glowing green orbs. Stand next to one and click on the Stygia Dowser. Only one person can tap a nexus at a time. I recommend not going over eye 2 for this.
Celebrate the end of grinding
Go to Soulsteel Anvil (located at the very top of Domination Keep at 20.2,67.0-You will need to grapple hook up the side) to create 20 Lingotto di Stigia
Create Armored Husk by combining 20 Lingotto di Stigia with Soulforger's Tools
Optional: Take the Chaotic Rift to get down (it takes you to Zovaal's Cauldron)
Go to the Binding alter at 45.2,48.2 to combine Armored Husk with Anima di Lupo Volenterosa to get Feral Shadehound
Read Crumbling Stele to get the rune order
Use Feral Shadehound to get start Feral Shadehound which starts the binding ritual
Run Feral Shadehound into a cage or pillar to not have to bother with mob agro while you punch in the correct rune order.
This completes Feral Shadehound which gives Bound Shadehound
Learn the mount, brag to guildies/friends

A quick note on farming. When Words of Warding is active, as long as you don't turn it in, you can cloak easily in Perdition Hold, which makes Perdition Hold ideal for farming Polvere di Stigia and Scheggia di Stigia. It also makes it easier to get Rune Codex Page: Souls as well as get to Go to Soulsteel Anvil.

Another thing I noticed is that when you collect resources from one stygia nexus, another one seems to spawn almost instantly. I think there are two active nexus in each particular sub-zone of the maw. This is why camping a spot doesn't seem to work as the nexus are random. HOWEVER, I think some more more common spawn locations than others. If you are having trouble finding one, I'd check the more rare spots, which for Perdition Hold is at the very very top of Dominion Keep as well as the very southern part where your Assassin's Soulcloak will fall off.

Some thoughts and observations after farming for a total of about 5 hours:

The number of players in the area seems to affect the spawn rate. I found that I got the most nodes in a single run when there were other players in the area. Best situation was when those players weren't also farming. Things seemed to spawn very slowly when I was alone in the area (Early in the morning). The number of nodes and the yield of the nodes seemed to pick up late afternoon early evening realm time.
Logging in (while still in Beastwarrens) seemed to stimulate some nodes to spawn for me. Instead of farming continuously, I logged on every 30 mins during the course of two days and was able to get a good yield for spending about 5-10 minutes each time I popped in.
I primarily did my farming in Beastwarrens (Prodigum, Marrow's Coppice, and Pit of Anguish). There's a good concentration of nodes in those locations.

After much some experimenting with what was the best way to lazy afk camp for nodes, because $%^& running around this horrible zone, I think I figured out a good solution. In my experience farming for these late at night, the fart clouds seem to spawn in a set cluster track similar to how mining nodes were in classic. There can only be one spawn up at a given time, and once you siphon that node the timer resets for that set (7-8 ish minutes). This is why you could camp a single location late at night and never see anything pop up for an hour, because said node was up somewhere else. The best spot I found was hiding in the back of Calcis (19, 34 roughly on the ledges). You can see all but 2-3 of the nodes in that track in a mob safe afk spot. If it's been about 10 minutes and you haven't seen a respawn, run out and check 23,34 and 21,39. I was able to happily play another game while I just slowly afk farmed instead of running around this awful zone, and getting aggro on every mob and their hamster mothers.

Im gona make everyones life so much easier. get the addon Handynotes: Stygia. This will mark green dots on your map of all the runed stygia in the maw. happy hunting!

I think the worst part of this is that it's RNG to get whether you need dust or slivers. It really sucks when you've got over 200 slivers and keep getting more but you need over 30 more dust.

If you are able to survive it, seems beastwarrens is best place to find. Not as many people farming in the area and there appears to be a lot of nodes around the area in pretty easy to access/small caves. Shadehound hunt also seems the best time the amount of npcs out and about aren't as annoying to deal with

I am at a loss. I can't find Animated Levitating Chain from Ve'nari. I may have bought it so it's not visible. I am Appreciated, and have the bonus working. I can't see any of the green blobs. I've been to many of the places that are shown on maps.

Am I missing something?

There is sadly no tricks to it. Just get out there and run around in a circle(ish) with the addon installed that shows the locations. Sometimes you loot 5-6 of the things in 1 spawn, others 2-3. I even had 2 spawns next to each other. I find most of mine in northeren maw or beastwarrens, but just do a circle of the maw in general.

Also...RIP people who did this pre-eye of jailer removal on some @#$%ty class like DK or priest. Even as a druid with guardian spec for no daze + satyr covenant for its potential jump stuff, this grind is still slow. Anyway druid rules in general always, in wow due to travel form and high movement and so on.

Hereby a small tip for anyone that is on the step of 200x Stygia Dust and Stygia Sliver.
I did this during the week of Fated Sanctum of domination. This meant alot of groups for Worldboss Mor'Geth.
I farmed these stygian notes in the beastwarrens and use the LFG tool for Mor'Geth groups to get in different shards.

Took me 2 hours to complete the 200 materials this way.

Hi!

I played Shadowlands in S1 and S2; I just came back to the game and noticed I had couple of items from the mount quest. i then started the stage where you need to farm about 200 of each Stygia Dust and Silver but most of the nexus spawn places marked in the Handynotes: Stygia aren't on so this has become really difficult on farming.
