DragonflightWhy Should I Participate in the Primal Storms Pre-Patch Event?

The event rewards ilvl252 gear, which is a decent catch-up for alts that have not actively played through Shadowlands Seasons 3 and 4. This gear will last halfway through Dragonflight leveling, where players will start to find replacement pieces around level 65 quests.

There are some time-limited rewards that will no longer become obtainable at Dragonflight launch:
The Against the Elements Feat of Strength;

The Bag of Furious Winds Toy;

The Primal Stormling Battle Pet;

The Storm-Battered Reagent Bag, a 20-slot Reagent Bag and the only bag players can obtain before Dragonflight;

The Unstable Elemental Confluence Heirloom Trinket.

When is the Dragonflight Pre-Patch Event?

Phase Two: November 15

In-Game Events: Primal Storms: Ward off attacks from the Primalists with new quests and world events, setting the stage for Dragonflight’s launch.

So 13 days to get the FOS, toy and trinket. Are these invasions going to be up constantly in all four zones so you can farm the "rare" parts?

Well, at least these are more sensibly priced than last prepatch's gear, and the currency can actually be farmed. The Scourgestone grind from SL prepatch was ridiculous, and to top it off you didn't unlock the other faction's equivalent after getting each of your own faction's mog. Still mad over that.

Very comfortable invasion zones for horde players. But for alliance u need to spent a lot of time to travel between these locations.

As the question has been asked multiple times here - this event is accessible by low level characters (and the XP is actually not bad)! Unless it was changed for the live release (as you could on PTR).

Will the bosses be killable multiple times while the zone event is up? and if so will you be able to loot the boss multiple times or will it be once per day?

hi everyone! You CAN farm these for the Dimmed elements. I was doing the Earth invasion in Un'Goro and killed the large boss once, did not get the item. I waited ~30 minutes for him to respawn and got the item on my second kill of the same invasion. Hope this helps :D

Just want to point out - gear pieces do drop from the boss events. I received a cloak on my warrior.

So, is this not the Primal Elements set? It also says Primal Storms but I can't see any way to the get set? I can only see the set listed on WoWhead, but the other set also says its available from Primal Storms in the blue color. Anyone know what this is about and how to get this set?

Do we know why there doesn't seem to be an Invasion spawning in Tirisfal Glades? I'm only seeing Barrens, Un'Gorog and Badlands. And have only seen Fire and Earth so far.

its the last slot on the last vendor page, but the first available reagent bag Storm-Battered Reagent Bag is only 5 Primeval Essence each.

Also the Primeval Essence as well as the 4 component pieces for the heirloom are BOA. The armor is BoP, though, but that just means you can farm on your main and gear up alts (or collect the transmogs) by sending them currency. The events are giving good experience for levels 50-60, so that's something that may help.

It's so great that blizzard removed honor gear and conquest gear so that I would be forced to gear my alts through this crappy even rather than PvP like I wanted.
Item level 252 catch up gear when honor gear starts at 265 in warmode, come on get real.
Horrible prepatch event already.
Now we have to do the event to gear our alts because it is better than nothing, so the metric looks good for investors.

The quests that give Primeval Essences are "per character" so you can get HUNDREDS quickly if you have alts.
Since they are Account Bound, you can then send them to the character you want to gear up or on which you want to collect the transmog !

Tips and Tricks for those wanting to collect the transmog and/or want to collect a lot of Primeval Essense.

Premade Groups - Custom (Use and abuse it.)

make/join groups to allow phasing directly into the Elemental Lords.
if no Elemental Lords are up, rotate locations to possibly find another Elemental lord.
keep doing this until you get one of the Dimmed Primevals for each elemental.

Gear pieces do drop from the Elemental Lords so this will cut your need for Primeval Essences.

For those not level 60 yet and wanting a quick and dirty to leveling. (You need to be lvl 60 to buy the transmogs at the vendor.)

Simply tag the group of monsters once, and run into other players so they can take aggro. Focus on tagging. Not killing for maximum profit.
There will always be one small elemental that you will always be able to tag regardless. Make sure you do. He is about about 2x the exp of two of the smaller non-elementals mobs.
Run across to the other side of the area (to avoid taking damage) and tag the newly respawned enemies on the other side.
Rinse and repeat.

Let other people do the killing while you just tag all the mobs. Do this as well when the the Elemental spawns in and before the meter drops to 0 so other players can kill the mobs even faster.(Being in a raid reduces exp gains about by half. but kills faster)

Almost forgot:

Buy the Dagger and the Bow using a Warrior class.
You need to make sure to filter by "All" when at vendor to see them.

And Primeval Essences are tradeable to ALTs if you want to do it on one character.

Some observations on the Primalist Invasions as-of 2022-11-18:

Invasion Timings

Invasions last for 2-hours and 55-minutes before ending (the map timers will show 2-hours and 53-minutes, but Primal Storms and Primalist mobs take approximately 25-30 seconds to spawn and appear for a new invasion, followed by a good minute-or-so to fully de-spawn them when the invasion ends)
New invasions start on-the-hour, 5-minutes after the prior ones end (e.g. if current invasions end at 1:55pm, new ones will start at 2:00pm)
Elemental Lords respawn 20-minutes after being killed
The average time to down an Elemental Lord's shield seems to be around 2 to 3-minutes with a decent amount of players participating (expect 10 to 15-minutes if it's off-hours or a low population realm)
The average time to kill an Elemental Lord (after its shield is down) seems to be anywhere from 75-seconds to 3 1/2-minutes

Invasion Details

Multiple invasion zones can have the same invasion type occurring at once

Had two Rumbling Earth Lord being summoned in Un'Goro Crater and Northern Barrens at the same time
Had three Glacial Ice Lord being summoned in Un'Goro Crater, Northern Barrens, and Badlands at the same time

A full 252-iLvl set from the Event Quartermaster costs 525-530 x Primeval Essence (varies based-on whether you pick a single Two-hand weapon vs. Main + Off-hand)
Primalist mobs and Elemental Lords can drop the same 252-iLvl Blue gear that the Event Quartermaster sells. These drops are tradeable to party members
Primal Storms are the invasion 'portals', be careful not to confuse seeing them on the map with the summoning of an Unbridled Storm Lord. Always look at the color of the Primal Storm icons on the map; or hover over the main one in each invasion zone to see the description text explaining which type of Elemental Lord is being summoned.
The Primal Storms close approximately 45 to 60-seconds after the map timers expire; so you can still get some kills in if you need a few more Primeval Essence before everything vanishes
Have yet to see any invasions in Tirisfal Glades thus far, regardless of Phase (seems folks in other posts on here are experiencing the same)

Elemental Lords

Usually spawn immediately (with shield) when new invasions start (have had one invasion start where one didn't spawn immediately, but appeared 6-mins after)
Had to kill an average of three of each type, in order to get all four types of Dimmed Primeval drops for the Heirloom Trinket (it really depends on how RNG is feeling though, had a friend get each of theirs on first kill of each type)
Start at 1,423K HP and max-out at 26,401K HP (depending on the number of people that have tagged it)
Raging Fire Lord is easier to kill if you kite it to the edge of the area, so that everyone can easily avoid the giant spinning-fire attack that stays throughout the entire fight
When present in an invasion zone, it will show a giant skull on the map where they are located (shows while shields are up too)
Locations:

/way Northern Barrens 35.14 40.20 Elemental Lord (slightly west of The Forgotten Pools)

/way Un'Goro Crater 48.85 28.52 Elemental Lord (slightly west of Lakkari Tar Pits)

/way Badlands 33.07 42.23 Elemental Lord (east of New Kargath)

For lower-level characters

Make sure you check your Mailbox, read the WoW Dev Team mail, open your Anniversary Gift, and use the Celebration Package for an 18% XP Boost until Dragonflight releases
You can tag Primalist mobs and Elemental Lords and still get credit when higher-level players in the invasion zone assist you in killing them (regardless of being in a party or not)
Leveling via invasions is an awesome way to accumulate additional Primeval Essence that you can send to alts
If a Primalist mob, or Elemental Lord drops Blue gear, its iLvl will be relative to your character's level (e.g. Level 48 = iLvl 83, Level 49 = iLvl 88)
XP Samplings

Level 48 w/ Rested XP and No XP boost token

Glacial Ice Lord - 2,931 XP (1,954 + 977 rested)
Snow Elemental - 3,387 XP (2,258 + 1,129 rested)
Water Elemental - 4,782 XP (3,188 + 1,594 rested)

Level 48 w/ Rested XP and XP boost token

Water Elemental - 6,768 XP (4,512 + 2,256 rested)

Level 49 w/ Rested XP and XP boost token

Glacial Ice Lord - 4,452 XP (2,968 + 1,484 rested)
Snow Elemental - 3,483 XP (2,322 + 1,161 rested)

There seems to be a (daily?) limit on how many Essence you can get from the regular Eliete and normal mobs when the boss is not up. After doing the daily for 30 and killing a bunch of regular/elite (Revenant) mobs and doing one boss, I stopped getting any (non gray junk) drops off those. I'm still getting plenty from the boss event shield-breaking big guys and the boss itself (29 on the last boss kill, 44 total for the boss event).

You definitely get the regular 252 purchasable pieces off the bosses almost every time, so for efficiency don't buy anything until say you've gotten all for boss drops for the Heirloom Trinket, then you'll probably have enough Essence to fill in the pieces you didn't get as drops and probably a few more to mail to other characters (the Essence is BtoA.

Currently very easy to get all this because everyone is still doing them. In fact it's so many, that after a boss kill that doesn't give you what you want, you can try switching to a different character and back and you may log into a different phase/shard that will repop the boss sooner as they all appear to be independent when there are multiples up due to the zone population.

I would also like to add. Every piece of gear, i've obtained so far at lvl 60... turns into 278 once equipped. I have not yet tested this with gear from the Vendor. but even items from the Tyr Dungeon.

This is what keeps happening during these:

Group A: Boss spawns every 30 mins
Group B: Boss spawns every 20 mins
Boss: Spawns after 20 mins
Group A: "Oh, what a pleasant surprise!"
Me: (Rolls eyes) (Is incredulous)
Boss: Is killed
Group A: Okay, next one is <30 mins later>
Group A: Is annoying af because you keep insisting on 30 mins, yet it keeps being 20 mins.

Storyline The Dragonscale Expedition + Extra Quests:

1. The Dragon Isles Await - start automaticly when login You need to go to Stormwind and speak with Wrathion 79.9 27.2
2. Aspectral Invitation - speak with Wrathion conversation will start.
3a. Expeditionary Coordination - Speak with 3 NPC: Thaelin Darkanvil 64 37.4, Cataloger Wulferd 63.2 70.1 and Pathfinder Jeb 38.2 45.2
3b. The Obsidian Warders - speak with Dervishian 51.1 67.5 on top of tower
5. Whispers on the Winds - Speak with Archmage Khadgar He will come from teleport, Video will start.
6. Chasing Storms - Start from Toddy Whiskers 22.9 55.5 Speak with Storm Hunter William 25 53.2
For Storyline probably the rest of the quests next week. But after 6 quests You can do extra quests:
- Legacy of Tyr: Secrets of the Past - Do dungeon Uldaman located in 41.4 9.9, best way is to go LFG dungeons. Dont forget to put dungeon on normal dif.
- A Primal Threat - Kill mobs at Primal Elements and pick up from them 10 Mote of Primal Energy Reward is Primal Stormling.
After finishing quest 6 You will be able to buy items from Storm Hunter William. All items 252ilvl + Bag of Furious Winds and Storm-Battered Reagent Bag, to Buy all item you need Primeval Essence you can get them from killing mobs at Primal Elements.

Achievement Against the Elements and how to get Unstable Elemental Confluence Guide:

First think about Primal Elements. You have 4 elements bosses and they are spawn only in 3 location:
/way Badlands 32.9 42.1
/way Un'Goro Crater 48.4 27.8
/way Northern Barrens 35.2 40.4

Elements are spawn every 3 hours and is random elemental on each location ( can be 3 x ice or 1xfire 1xice 1x wind ).

To get Achi done You just need to kill all 4 bosses but to get Unstable Elemental Confluence You need to get drop from them but is not 100% drop rate.
Elemental bosses and drop:
- Unbridled Storm Lord drop Dimmed Primeval Storm i got it after 2nd kill :D,
- Rumbling Earth Lord drop Dimmed Primeval Earth i got it after 11 kills xD
- Glacial Ice Lord drop Dimmed Primeval Water i got it after first kill :D
- Raging Fire Lord drop Dimmed Primeval Fire i got it after 2nd kill :D.

Now most important for drop, to get it easy use LFG ! in this way i get all Dimmed Primeval very fast. Only You need to be lucky with elemental spawn.

There should be a guide to efficient AoE farming.

It is not spreading mobs around - or tanking stuff on the outer spawns.

interrupts can cause a mob to move towards its primary target
DK have death grip
pet classe have a MoveTo command
Mobs have a maximum aggro range and will reset - so you want to place the AoE within an area that intersects with as many as possible.

NOTE: Low level alts do get armor/weapon drops from mobs/bosses during the event, BUT the ilvl is really low. My 40-ish ilvl toon was getting drops that were almost half the ilvl of their heirloom gear. Something seems off.

I hope the people, who need to know this, will read this:

If you have MASSIVE performance issues (I sometimes had less than 1 frame, worst was 5 minutes frozen screen), pretend its 1999 again and reduce your resolution in the graphics options. Its the 3rd option and you can e.g. set it to 800x600. Sure, this su*x, but at least you will have enough frames to tag the boss and not to die. After the event you can revert it, but you maybe have to /reload, because the vendor menu wouldnt appear and other stuff. :)

GL. Hope this helps and GL farming your heirloom trinket. :) I really hope Blizz will reduce one layer to max 25 players or something. At least for those who want it.

The item level of blue drops from the primal storm prepatch event appears to be too low for lower level characters.
As an example at level 35 I have ilvl 97 heirloom gear but the random blue item drops are ilvl 40? this cannot be right and is detrimental to newer players without heirlooms.

seems the experience gain from this has been nerfed, after spending some hours on a lvl 12 alt stopped at 18 with hardly any looms equipped nor the 18% anniversary buff the bosses were giving < 500 xp at best. before today i would the experience mentioned in other comments- closer to 2500 ish or more depending the element. seems no longer the case as the smaller non elite enemies were only giving 21-250 ish per kill.
