Primal Sentry's Camouflage set bonuses than Pack Leader is, which means it will perform similarly in raids until then, with some AoE benefits on top!

Although Pack Leader is our default recommended build for Mythic+, Sentinel performs well enough to also deserve a shoutout. Sentinel is passively tankier.

Currently, Sentinel's primary mechanic is not working very fluidly in raid, as it will land on immune mobs or mobs that die far too far for you to properly engage with the mechanic. For this reason, (on top of better output) we recommend Pack Leader for all content.

Best Survival Hunter Raid Talent Build

Because our talent tree and rotation is fairly rigid and limited by resources, there is very little flexibility in our talent trees. Although it comes with the disadvantage of limited flexibility, it also comes with the advantage of having a surprisingly high AoE potential for a dedicated Single Target build.

Further Details

Sic 'Em can occasionally outperform the one point in Improved Wildfire Bomb by miniscule amounts (~0-0.2%, depending on crit%), but the latter improves AoE in a more meaningful manner. Only consider Sic 'Em if the encounter involves absolutely zero AoE.

If you know the exact amount of time an encounter will take, or if critical damage amps occur at a weird timer interval, consider taking 1 or 2 points out of Savagery, allowing you to pick up Explosives Expert and Sic 'Em instead.

Best Survival Hunter Mythic+ Talent Build

As mentioned before, our talent tree is quite rigid, however Pack Leader can utilize Lethal Barbs when paired with dual wield to skip Flanker's Advantage, putting the point in Bloodseeker instead, leveraging to combo for some impressive focus gains.

Pack Leader builds revolve around Howl of the Pack Leader and the beasts it will spawn in combat, granting various positive effects. Pack Leader favours buttons such as Raptor Swipe and effects like Strike as One paired with Two Against Many to deal its AoE, alongside Wildfire Bomb to round out the rotation. Because of the focus on the former effects, the AoE (soft)cap is on the low side.

Playing Pack Leader with a 2 handed weapon is generally not recommended, but if you do want to give it a try you should swap Twin Fangs for Flanker's Advantage.

Further Details

Wildfire Shells may seem to make more sense at a glance, however it impacts your damage profile in perhaps unexpected ways. Mongoose Rounds converts into a fair amount of AoE damage just by itself through Bloody Claws and Two Against Many. Additionally, Wildfire Shells feeds you with a bunch of bombs that will start to eat GCDs away from Raptor Swipe, which triggers the supercharged Strike as One through Raptor Swipe.

For the same reason, talents such as Flamefang Pitch are quite disappointing and should realistically not be used in any competitive environment.

With that being said, Wildfire Shells at least has some niche use in strengthening the Boomstick <> Wildfire Bomb feedback loop resulting in (possibly) better Boomstick timings inbetween add spawns in some boss encounters.

Tracking multiple Sentinel's Mark can be a little difficult on the default UI. Nameplates will need to be utilized if you want to track multiple targets, but frankly we recommend simply tracking your Wildfire Bomb cooldown instead; If you suddenly gain ~4 seconds of cooldown reduction you will know a mark procced. Directly hitting marked targets to benefit from Wildfire Bomb's primary target boost is a tiny ~0.6% damage gain at the cost of some priority damage.

Further Details

picking between Wildfire Shells or Mongoose Rounds depends very much on the expected target count you're facing, with Wildfire Shells leaning more into big pulls, and Mongoose Rounds being in favor of smallish (5 target) pulls and bosses.

The same can be said for Improved Wildfire Bomb versus Sweeping Spear, with the former preferring target counts of 6+.

Best Survival Hunter Delve Talent Build

The delve build is mostly similar to a Mythic+ based build, taking various utility talents such as No Hard Feelings and Wilderness Medicine to improve the tankiness of our pet, as well as taking Camouflage as a default pick for some skipping shenanigans. Keep in mind every class now has access to Recuperate, so the healing effect of Camouflage has limited value in a delve.

Although we opt for Wildfire Shells by default, Mongoose Rounds remains a solid pick. The former ties the feedback loop together and ultimately results in more Boomstick uses, allowing you to blast down every (other) pack easily.

Dunno why no aspect of the Eagle in there, since it seems even more important now that we tend to use our ST more (with Mongoose Bite), and there most certainly will be fights where you'll have to get off your target(s) for some time (needing to get away from AoE, or to soak stuff for example), and it was one of the big differential from other melee.

I take it the "Essential AoE" build is for cleave damage in raids?

While I won't use it myself as I enjoy the playstyle of Latent build (and ran it during Shadowlands S1 despite being offmeta), I really like the addition of the "comfy" M+ build, and find that the addition of "easy mode" alternatives is something a lot of the WoWhead class guides lack, so big kudos to the writer for including this.

Why would you take No Hard Feelings over Intimidation in M+? Having an extra stun in the group is far more valuable than five seconds off an ability that doesn't work correctly half the time.

Whoever wrote this doesn't play hunter. Who doesn't take Posthaste? it's a free stronger blessing of freedom for yourself every 20 seconds. Instead they take checks talents 10 seconds CDR on feign death on the raid ST?

Why does the top say Packleader is BiS for Delves, but when you go down to the Delves section it's showing Sentinel?
