No clue. Do your other characters vastly outgear your paladin? I've never had this issue before. I find ret squishy though =.=

Is your gear better on your other tanks? Other than two unenchanted items and that Avalanche on your weapon I'm struggling to find reasons to tell you that you're a bad, and those things really shouldn't make you squishy on their own.

There are a few things that I see that can be fixed.
First use your JC gems in yellow sockets. Your stacked mastery in both slots on your legs so youy missing out on the Stam Bonus. And use the block Meta. Best idea for socket bonuses is if it gives you
more then
+20 of a tank stat match the bonuses.
Your spec could be moved around a little bit. Move the 3 points from Rule of the Law into 2 points in PoJ. and 1 move point in Reckoning. PoJ is a nice talent to have as there are bosses that fear and stun so thats more free HP.
Want kind of content are you doing? Are you doing Za/Zg or Raids. Also name some of the bosses that seem to effect your health the most.

Honestly, you are actually "better" statisticly than my Pally, although we have very similar gear. I have seen the math, read the theroycrafting, but I still can't bring myself to go all out mastery.
And perhaps thats the issue here. At our somewhat lower gear level, maybe a little extra stam isn't such a bad thing?
A couple differences I see between our toons are that I have used my JC gems for stam, and I have gemmed for most of my socket bonus'. The end result is that you have about 10% more block than I do, but I have about 20k more health.
So far, I haven't had any issue with feeling too "squishy", nor have I had any healers complain. I have been able to tank BoT and BWD without any probelms, although I have yet to down Cho'gal or Nef, but that has been more about time, not gear.

Here is what I would do.
1.) You have enchanting, which is a pure Stamina bonus, there is nothing you can do about that. So atleast 2 of your JC gems should be mastery. You got that covered. The 3rd JC gem could be Stamina or mastery, lets stick with the mastery for now, but we'll talk about stamina later.
2.) Socket bonuses. Match them. There are 50/50 gems which will help you match every bonus. You have a couple of pieces of lower level gear, which means you have that weird +10 expertise bonus, that sucks, try and fix it ASAP. Don't match for that. But if you have +10 mastery, +15 Stamina. Match for those.
3a.) Enchants. I know your helm sucks, and that your waiting for something better before you enchant it. Can't do that with the helm. There is nothing to use unless you are raiding, and when you go to your pug raids your going to want to have that extra 90 stam and 35 dodge.
3b.) Stamina on your Wrists, needs to change to dodge. 40 stamina < 50 dodge. By far
3c.) Wind walking on weapon. Its a decent weapon. Having a 359 or a 372 would be better, sure, but as far as weapons go, it will do you until you go into firelands on a pug now and get your 378 main hand. Wind walking will place you at 15% movement speed on a 50% up time, and your boot enchants will keep you at 8% for the rest of the time. No need for PoJ
4.) Spec, 1 point less in
will bring you up to 1 point more in
. It will give you more procs from your weapon, and kill stuff quicker.
Eye for an Eye
is damage, but its not that much damage. The less mistakes you make, the better you tank, the less damage its going to deal anyways.
is an option, having a second ranged attack can sometimes open up your style of tanking a lot more, but again, its a preference thing.
5.) Cooldowns. 60 seconds on
Divine Protection
It feels quick, but its about 45 seconds from pull to pull with an average group in GB, DM, and Lost City. You should be using DP on everyone of those trash packs. GB trash, can be nasty, but you also have
Charred Glyph
. Get your mind set around using Holy wrath as a defensive CD rather than a damaging spell. A 3 second stun is time enough for a full heal, or time enough to back step a few yards, and give you even more space before the next attack.
6.) Stamina, Stamina does nothing for the amount of damage you take, this is true. BUT, and this is a big BUT. Stamina does help your healers heal because if gives them a time buffer. Healing output is pretty big, its not top you off in 1 heal like it used to be, but its still pretty big. Having more stamina will give the illusion to your healers that your not a squishy as you are. You'll be taking more damage, but it won't seem that way. You also have to remember that if you can increase you health by 5%, you won't be taking 5% more damage, you'll be taking 1 or 2% more damage. Magic damage or bleeds won't effect your percent health as hard as they would have before. This is why having a bit of stamina where you can get it is nice. Match for those socket bonuses. If you can get a stamina trinket with on use effect, you can use the on use effect whenever your
Divine Protection
is down.
7.) Go back to basics. When your pulling your trash packs, bring them to you, S key and turn backwards to group things up, never have your back exposed. Its the silly damage that can impact your starting health before the healer even starts healing.

Hat

We can't have a discussion about Squishy prot pallies without my presence!
Having said that, I'd like to reemphasise Hat's point 6. The idea of a character being 'squishier' is simply 'I need to urgently worry about them more frequently'. If you've got a bit more stam, you're less likely to need
urgent
worrying.
Can you link us another one of your tanks, just for comparison?

Your paladin (please tell me you named it after eschaton on purpose! That's so fitting for this expansion) has almost the same amount of total avoidance (1.5% less, roughly), and
more
block than your warrior, but almost 13k less health.

You know, I was going to ask something about whether you were feeling squishy in trash or in boss fights, but that goes some way to answering it.
If the only concern is around trash fights, then yes, that's probably the issue. If your friend has issues healing you in a boss fight as well, then there's something else associated.

I'll hijack the thread because I have similar issues. Tank is my off-spec, but I sometimes have to switch when one of our tank cannot make it. Sadly, I logged off in my Holy spec (and gear), but I have around 365-366 ilvl in tank gear, about 175k HP, and a CTC of 82% (something like 45% block, 25% parry and 12% dodge).
I pop Holy Shield on cool down, Divine Protection on CD, I reforged Brawler's Trophy for Dodge => Mastery and pop it if I'm taking multiple melee hit, if it's really damage heavy I'm popping Guardian of the Ancient King, healing with Word of Glory on CD... I feel like I'm doing all I can, really, but healers in the raid still "complain" (we don't wipe while I'm tanking, but they feel like their mana is draining faster when I'm tanking) that I am taking a lot of damage.
Any tips ?
My spec can be found here :
http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/emerald-dream/Zyriana/talent/secondary
I just created a profile for my tanking set :
http://www.wowhead.com/profile=33012171
PS: I reforged everything I could in Mastery, I just don't have time to put it in the profile yet.
(yes, I do have Holy shoulder. I know, I know, but I doubt it's that much of a difference, although I'm sure there is one, just not THAT much).
PS2: I'm mostly talking about Firelands tanking, and the occasional ZA/ZG.

@ Hawke
When you get a chance log out in your tank gear and post link. Wowhead is screwy on stats and the reforges aren't showing on your gear.
One thing that I can tell you is your going to have to balance that parry and dodge. Ideal you don't want more then 1% between the stats in a perfect world you want them equal.

Here, I logged out in my tank gear yesterday :
http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/emerald-dream/Zyriana/advanced
From my understanding (which is minimal on tanking with pally, I decided to tank because we needed one and I could buy some gear right now) the "priority" was to get my CTC close to 100% as soon as possible. What's the reason for wanting parry close to dodge ? I admit I reforged all my dodge to Mastery because I thought that's what I was suppose to do. Now, admittedly, thinking about it, I'm switching a 100% damage evasion to a 30% damage reduction (block) by doing so, which sound a bit bad...
But even if I was to cancel the reforge and put it in dodge, I would gain about 2-2.5% dodge, nowhere close to my parry :O
EDIT : Meh, seems my addon for calculing CTC is a bit off, here's the value according to armory :
Dodge
: 14.01%
Parry
: 16.70%
Block
: 47.40%
Wich mean that if I remove the reforging, Parry and Dodge would be pretty much the same.
