I have written a guide about leveling, gearing and playing Retribution paladins in PvE and PvP, much of it is likely to be common knowledge, but so long as one person finds something new or useful I'm happy ^_^. It has some information on gear, talents, skills and some tricks and tips that should help any paladin up for the daunting task of being recognised as being a good asset to 5 man groups, raids or PvP teams as Retribution spec.
The guide is stored on this website, so that I can keep it updated in all the places that it is posted easily, and to make formatting it slightly easier for your navigation:
If you have any comments about the guide please reply here, and not on the guild forums, as always I have my Fire Resistance Aura up and Divine Shield and Hearthstone ready :P
Much <3 to MoshJosh for proving advert free hosting for my guide and Wowhead for the item and spell tool tips.
Last Updated: February 2010 (4.0.6 Live)

Hmm, nice guide here...
However what I do wonder is that how
THIS
suits are retribution paladin weapon ???
Its nice I grant you, but remember that T3 Blacksmithing items are only equal to SSC/S2 swords anyway,
is a better for PvP since it has Stamina and the stun proc, and PvE wise Lionheart Executioner is only equal to
or
anyway, and S3 sword is much better than it (if you can get the rating).
Basically if you are getting into a guild where you will be able to get the Nether Vortexes its likey you find an upgrade for it fairly soon. And once you've upgraded passed the T3 weapon there isn't a lot Blacksmithing offers a Retribution paladin besides Red Belt of Battle (which you can get crafted by another Blacksmith anyway).

I've been trying to piece a Ret-set together for the longest time now, and just have a couple questions if you don't mind giving me some advice.
I'm aiming for the Red Lawbringer set, and have a few other items to go with it. The items being...
Endbringer
Adamantine Chain of the Unbroken
Weathered Band of the Swamplord
My idea is to completely stack Crit Rating, as I'm adding the Hourglass from BM hopefully soon.
My question is, how can I even out Hit Rating? How much will I even need?
Thanks. :)

get helm, legs and chest of doomplate and shoulder and gloves of ragesteel, should be more than enough hit rating boost from there to start off with
the red lawbringer set sucks

It's probably a dumb reason to most, but I like the look of the set and want to actually look like a Paladin while fighting.
Not to mention after doing Slave Pens so many times I think I NEED to use it!

I guess you
could
socket it with str gems to make up for the itemization lost on spell damage....
i would recommend getting an RP set and a ret set instead though

Now on revision 5, I've added a whole new section which goes though each talent step by step (all Retribution and the first 4 tiers of Holy and Prot) rating them out of 5 and explaining how good they are (or not as the case may be).

I would revise the guide where you wrote this:
3 hours doing WSG/AB/EotS is 15-30 easy potions depending...
In 2.4 it is better to save tokens for the new repeatable BG quest (314 honor for 1 of each BG's token).
Where you wrote:
Use Rank 1 Seal of Command on bosses, immunity to stuns renders the extra DPS from max rank negilgable for the massive extra mana cost.
I use max rank, with 80% of the mana back of the seal's cost, you can still use max rank for a small mana increase for a dps increase. Max rank costs 48 mana (adding the mana gain) and rank 1 costs 9 mana. Doing that every 9 seconds for 5 minutes is about 1300 extra mana.

If you are PvEing or have all the gear already what would you use the honor points for?

This is outdated, and I've just missed it when revising the guide, I too use max rank Seal of Command when PvEing these days, will fix it now thank you for pointing it out.
Guide now has sections on Professions as Retribution as well.
