It is possible to just create an alt on a second free wow account that is bound to your same battle.net account, no subscription or anything needed, and use that to throw stars at your character somewhere others won't try to contest you for them.

Does not seem to count every single one of them as being caught. I guess it is only those that cause the buff "Caught a star!" that count but I tried counting and I thought (maybe miscounted?) it took over 160 for my partner to get it.

You can do it in 10 minutes or less.

Just create two 1st lvl characters the same race (you need 2nd WoW account for this (yes it can be trial)
Use different item on each character to get the buff
When you get 2 stacks of Caught a Star! , use
/cancelaura Caught a Star!
(the 3rd star does not count)

Repeat 50 times

Since it get fixed after 5 hours you do not need to remove the buff, I guess

Yeah, I just did it. All you have to do is have one catcher and one thrower. Just make sure the catcher glows each time you hit them. You have to catch 100 stars to get the achievement.

Just got this achievement, did it with the help of my guild. It is simple, the person who wants the achievement must use Falling Star Catcher - use it once, and just stand still, no need to click on the toy again, - and all others use Falling Star Flinger (over and over) on the person with the Catcher buff. The more people using the flinger, the faster it goes. There is no way to track it, but I assume you get the achievement after around 300 casts on you.

Quick note: if another player with the buff from Falling Star Catcher is getting close (while you have the catcher buff), just use the item on that player to knock him/her back, or else you will get knocked back. Yeah, there are people like that, trying to ruin stuff.

1) It looks like several catchers can benefit from one thrower. This includes also "ninja-catching"; meaning - if you see some pair of players is doing this achievement, then you can just stand in the same place as their catcher, and it seems that both catchers (you and their catcher) get the counter increased.
Also opposite - several throwers can satisfy one catcher faster than one thrower.

2) Additional funny effect: if two catchers stand together, and counter of one of the catchers comes to 3, then this catcher says "<Other catcher> is my star!", where the "other catcher" is the name of the second catching player.
If both catchers get their counters to 3 simultaneously, then both say this to each other.

3) I could not find how to track the achievement progress (the counter of catched stars 0--100).

The item has a cooldown...it takes more than 100 throws. about 120

made a custom group and spammed trade chat to complete it

Use a toy that roots you in place, like the amber, egg, mogu statue, anything because you will have so many *!@#$%^s spamming the catcher to knock people away from any group that you have formed to share the catching.

It's very easy to obtain that one. First you need to collect the presents for this year's event. There has to be 2 toys: Falling Star Catcher and Falling Star Flinger. In order to complete the achievement you need to use the Falling Star Catcher and one person or a group of people needs to use the other toy and throw to you 100 falling stars. For some reason there is no counter to how many of those stars you have but as long as you glow when it falls on you, this is considered as a catch.

Just completed this with Main and alt trail account @120 throws. Both characters get it.

To get this achievement you need to have the buff Starcatcher which you get from Falling Star Catcher, and then catch 100 stars flinged at you by someone else.

If you use Falling Star Flinger, you lose the buff, so you cannot fling and catch at the same time. The toys also share a cooldown, so it's not efficient to quickly switch between the modes.

TLDR: If you're doing this with a friend, it's easiest to just take turns being catcher and flinger. It will take about 5 minutes if you have one friend flinging at you. The More You know ★

Made a trial character and sent my main over to it.
After 200+ throws/catches, no FOS.

I thought maybe it was because it was a Horde/Alliance combo.

Second attempt.
Made two new characters, 1 trial, 1 main account. So 2 lv 10 mechagnomes.
200+ throws/catches.
Nothing

Edit.
After 530 throws, finally got the FOS. Every throw was in the exact same spot (gained the buff each time).
There might be some sort of internal timer, i dunno.

I have toys, i just don't have time to find someone now to do this with.

I obtained this FOS on both of my accounts and each time it took around 150 stars.
Looks like the third star still doesn't really count and only the catcher gets the achievement.

I and a guildie went out to the edge of nowhere on an xpac's land that's not popular this week so there'd be no competing players and no lag.

There doesn't seem to be any good way to track it, so trying to get this achieve is more a Feat of Faith that it exists, or patience, than of Strength per se.

She counted carefully and it was definitely way over 100.
One thing I have noticed is, it seems like the landing of the star is a little random within the green floor-circle (reticle). A character getting shiny ("catching" the light) I can't tell if that was setting the count or not.

We did pause a few times to discuss the attempt. We have no way to be sure if it helped.
When I did eventually get this Feat, I was tabbed out looking for where the article said it exists, so I didn't get a pic !

Of course I also stood there and made sure she got in starcatcher mode and threw around 150 or so before she got it too.

When a character has "caught a star" they end up with a cute little light over their head.
Also the buff "caught a star" can be plain or have a number 2 on it. Yoi can have two lights over your head.
It seems likely that THESE are the stars that it is counting up.

I hope this is useful to someone out there.

I attempted this achievement but got bored after 5 minutes so I logged off. I came back about 4 hours later and got the achievement within a couple of minutes. So you don't have to do all the stars in 1 hit. You can do it over time.
