I am getting credit for this on Athanos on the Trial of Loyalty version of Athanos instead of the Trial of Wisdom as stated.

For Athanos

This is a very easy fight as boss is pure melee with Pelagos

Boss abilities
Power swing. He will do a front cone swing that deals large damage and does a knock back so don't stand near edge. This can easily be sidestepped to avoid it.
Massive Charge. He will do a charge in your direction. This can easily be dodged. Also point him in a direction that does not make him go clean across the map.
Shielded Charging. He will take a knee and begin recharging power. During this he will put out a shield that rotates around him. GO to the side without a shield to dps

On wisdom is adds Quaking Shockwave which is an AOE around the boss. It will first do a small inner circle and then a larger outer circle around the boss. This can easily be avoided by being at a range. It will toss you in the air if you get hit.

For Kalisthene

This fight is easy in regards to difficulty.

Boss abilities
tethering spear. This will create a chain between you and the location it is cast you will see an grey swirly indicating this. It cannot be line of sighted this was patched. It will slow movement speed as you try to move away from it and will also drag you into it's AOE which does damage. It can be broken with Herald's footpads equipment. You can use pillars to avoid the dragging effect as they will hold you in place
Ascended Barrage. Kalisthene will fly up into the air and bombard the area you are in with spears. Avoid this at all cost as it is lethal.

On wisdom her new ability is a leap. She will fly up and leap to the blue swirl which will be under your feet. Just move out of the way

Contrary to another comment here this has not been fixed. I got this achievement today (5/18/2021) by defeating Athanos on courage difficulty as Kleia and Mikanikos. So until this actually gets fixed you only need rank 3 Path of Ascension to complete this achievement.

The whole achievement can be finished at level 3. You can defeat Kalisthene at wisdom and athanos at courage.

I did this and i got the whole credit, No need to upgrade to level 4.

I can't attack Athanos while playing as Mikanikos. I start the fight with zero energy, and can't do any attacks. I don't even go into combat with Athanos until I launch Mikanikos off the golem. Once I do that, Athanos goes into combat and attacks. After I do this, I can never remount the golem.

Anyone else having this bug and is there a work-around?

Did not count on higher diffuculty.
I won with Pelagos against Kalisthene on Humility mode, but didn't get credit.

Apart from it being bugged, it also has a grammatical error in the text. Indie company can't fix the game I guess.

You can still get credit for this achievement on lower difficulties as of 6/1/2022.

as of 9.2.7, I was able to complete this against some bosses on lower difficulties. It may depend how far you have progressed - I had to defeat kalisthene on wisdom, but was able to complete athanos only on courage, which was the highest level I could do at the time (wisdom was not unlocked yet for him)

So today I stumbled upon this achievement I had not completed during the SL expansion to unlock more mounts. If anyone wants to start this achievement, it starts with unlocking The path of Ascension at the Sanctum Upgrades. The Path of Ascension. I will edit this post, the more i unlock and discover.

To complete this achievement, you need to upgrade the sanctum to level 3.
