Collecting lost anima shards will allow you to interact with Forgelite Hephaesius to forge the Crystal Mallet of Heralds. Use this item to ring the Vesper of the Silver Wind to obtain the Silverwind Larion.

The lost anima shards are located throughout Bastion and within the Necrotic Wake and Spires of Ascension dungeons. For more information about our search for these shards, see this google doc.

Zarillion made a great guide with all the shard locations and coordinates and there's almost nothing to add, just few hints.

Lost anima crystals spots share through your account. This means if you found one it will not be there when you bring another char.
To craft Crystal Mallet of Heralds you need 10 crystal shards.
Take some gliders with you (or slow fall toys etc) when you go hunting for them. Mage, Priest and Demon Hunter need nothing.

And there's the video guide shows all shards loactions if someone has problems to locate some of them.

Not sure if the shards are in the same location on live, went to the first one and no shard.

If you refer to Zarillion's list (which is in QuestID order), this macro should show which of the crystals you've picked up or not:

Credit goes to @rogar for the original macros, which I've taken, fixed the old syntax of IsQuestFlaggedCompleted and then condensed into a single macro.

If you are missing anima shard you can locate them with the Handynotes: Shadowlands addon.

Go to your Handynotes settings > Plugins > Shadowlands > Click the Zones tab at the top > Bastion > Icon Settings > Deselect everything except Shard Labor. Then you should be able to see missing anima shards on your zone map. Hope this helps.

Strat: for 44, jump from the waterfall under the bridge and kill yourself near the pillar so you can try the jump without the elites bothering you.

Fellow Venthyr: Note that Door of Shadows will allow you to teleport to just about all of these shards and eliminate the need for creative glidering, jumping, finding paths, etc. Occasionally you will need a second or third teleport to get there in multiple steps but this is still way easier than doing it via the aforementioned.

I have Shadowlands HandyNotes Addon and have collected 45/50 Shards but no more are showing up on my Map? I have even hidden every other icon besides the shards and enlarged the icons just in case they were hidden behind another icon. Nothing. If anyone has a way to solve this issue please let me know!

Doing this on my paladin and Im so glad I atleast have gnomish engineering so I can gravity well and goblin glider (cloak tinker) and consumable to some of these spot. IF you want to make this really easy get a DH with Ventyr covenant, it will make your life a lot easier (engi would be a ++)

I was stuck at 49/50 shards, and ran 3 scripts to try and figure out which shard I was missing. All of them said I was missing the tenth shard following Varillion's list, but the tenth shard was not there. I downloaded the HandyNotes for Shadowlands add-on, and it showed me the actual 50th shard that I was missing.

If you're stuck missing one or two shards and the scripts aren't working for you, try the HandyNotes addon for Shadowlands!

Had a pretty weird issue with this one that I noticed towards the end. The achievement tracker would show 47/50, but running the macro would show me 4 missing shards. I hit 50/50 on the achievement, but it still didn't trigger, and the macro was showing 1 missing shard. Once I got that last shard the achievement triggered properly.

I have been waiting patiently for a fix for the 49/50 bug that is happening to some people. I finally received a response from a GM today in regards to this issue if anyone else is dealing with the same thing. They provided a command that will check to see which shards you have/haven't collected. Hopefully this helps you fellow players in some way. It read as follows.

The Shard Labor achievement is under investigation. Currently it appears that on rare occasions some people's shards are counting twice, causing issues.

You can check your completed shard state with this command:

Are you missing an Anima Shard?

This is the post for you! The script below is numbered accordingly with the Quest ID's assigned to the Anima Shards, and fit into the "/macro" window four at a time if you copy/paste them. If you are unfamiliar with macro usage in WoW, I would recommend you check out this guide for a reference, otherwise, you can just copy/paste these one at a time into your chat window. The script will show "true" if you have already collected that shard, and "false" if you have not.

PLEASE NOTE*** The Scripts are aligned to Zarillion's post specifically, although if you look closely between that post and varenne's, I believe the coordinates are the same, just with slight variation in positioning. I used Zarillion's coordinates as TomTom waypoints and then used varenne's post as a visually friendly reminder of where I was looking, and they all matched up. Please go ahead and upvote if this helped you to pin for others who need it!

Please note, the numbering is off between varenne's top comment, and all of the shard-check macros thereafter. The shard-check macros told me I was missing 10 and 12, but HandyNotes's Shard Labor and varenne's comment says it was actually 18 and 6.

I highly recommend the HandyNotes addon with the Shadowlands module.

Also, if it hasn't already been noted, if your character has chosen the Threads of Fate route.... the shards are not visible. Tried it today with my mage who's Venthy but using Threads of Fate option and none of the shards are visible to her :(

IMPORTANT: The HandyNotes: Shadowlands addon does not show the shards automatically. You will have to go to your map, click on the HandyNotes icon in the top right and check "Shard Labor" under "Show."

The shards look like blue rupies from the Zelda games.

As a mage you can avoid using gliders (which have 2 min CD) and simply use a mount + slowfall. Once you master the time of cancelling the spell at the right time, it's a piece of cake.

Note that you actually don't fall through the cloth stripes covering some of the pavillions, if you missed the spot and didn't fall off of them you can simply walk over the clothy rooftop back to the crystal (you will fall through flags).

Also READ the comments under the youtube video linked next to shard locations, #3 got me absolutely NUTS until I read I could land on the shard by simply backwalking from the central pillar. Got it on 1st try after about 2 hours of unsuccessful tries (missing the arch, landing next to it and getting stuck even if I was soooooo close to it, raging, gnawing on the furniture etc.).

Only thing that makes me sad is that once we get flying in Shadowlands all this will become a legendary piece of cake...oh well. Happy sharding!

If you are a Warlock, you can use Demonic Gateway to get basically every shard. The only real difficulty is either cleaning any mobs, or finding the right vantage point to throw your gateway.

Very easy if you have a Rogue. Switch to Outlaw and start using grappling hook. Grappling hook was so much faster than using the gliders and you can use the talent to make it a 30 second cooldown.

now that the warlock-gate tip has already been posted, here's another idea 🙃
for those of you who have a venthyr priest - using Door of Shadows even most of the shards on pillars, etc are easy to reach aaaand with Leap of Faith you can pull a friend or a whole party right by your side... depending on how much time you're willing to spend on CDs 😉
this way one or more group-members are spared a sometimes nerve-racking way to their shard 😄

Warlock gates and the venthyr teleport trivialize a lot of these. I'm sure there are other class abilities that work too.

Doing them the normal way is actually pretty fun though - reminds me of the treasures in WOD (before flying). But the gate was pretty handy for a few that I couldn't get after a few tries :-)

For anyone having trouble with Shard #3 at Aspirant's Rest, just land on the middle platform, face away from the shard and walk backwards. You'll land perfectly on the shard.

FYI if you lose your Crystal Mallet of Heralds, Aterkles will give you another one. It worked for me when when my inventory was full and I failed to receive the mallet when it was initially crafted by Forgelite Hephaesius.

If you have the patience you can also attain shard 11 just by jumping on the first pillar and then the second with your ground mount. I didn't want to use a glider and it worked great for me.

Can you collect shards on different alts? Or do you need to do this all on the same character? It says "Progress on any of your characters will count towards this achievement" but I'm used to seeing that on achievements with discreet independent criteria.

Or is this like a guild achievement where you loot a million gold?

I'll update this if I find out one way or the other.

Edit: I think you can collect the shards on any character. I've gone to two locations where I picked up a shard before and it wasn't available to be picked up a second time.

Shard 11 getting on that pillar was a real pain. The goblin glider just would not work, so I used my mages slowfall, then mounted and made the jump from the same spot. However, to work I created a macro to remove slowfall and then dismount. I landed dead on first try with this method. All other attempts with glider, slowfall and Hearty Dragon Plume, and jumping on the other close pillar, just did not work.

For anyone who is using Handynotes, be wary of overlapping icons. I thought I had gathered them all, could not see any more on my map and was 49/50. After a ui reload I noticed a new shard appeared on my map at the western anima gateway to Hero's Rest. As I got closer the map pin was covered up by the gateway icon and could not be seen while looking at the full map again.

Flying has made getting this achievement a breeze, is nice to just swoop in and grab 'em. Just a reminder that a total of 5 shards are within dungeons, with two in The Necrotic Wake and 3 in Spires of Ascension. I was about to go mad trying to find one that is just in a dungeon.

For anyone wondering: Normal dungeons are easily soloable (at least as a tank) to get to the shards now in 9.1.x. (probably was easy 6months ago as well). Some parts you can skip with invincibility potion but they do require you to kill bosses to transition further in the dungeon to get all the shards.

I had forgotten I started this achievement way back, so was just missing the last 5 from NW and SoA. But got my happy flapping lion today!

Solo'ed the dungeon portions on my boomkin, 261ilvl for those that don't want to wait around for a group to clear.

Also of note, if you do run the dungeons in a group, none of the shards in NW/SoA are path dependent, they're in areas you will go through no matter which route your party takes.

IF you can't see the shards this is probably because you looted them randomly during the expac. Oddly enough first two shards I checked out were the ones I looted long before I decided to collect them all XD

Does anybody know how you find the missing shard? Every script I use says a have 50/50 but of course WOW achievements say I only have 49/50. I see all comments and suggestions are from arund '20, '21; has this issue just beem ignored or there is a solution I don't know about. Looking for any type of help. Please and Thank You!

Be careful when you do this achievement. Even though this achieve is account wide progress, stay on 1 character. I started collecting shards on a level 63 mage and when I realized the shards are in instances, I changed to a level 70 toon. I was able to find 47 the shards that were left. When I contacted Blizzard support, The GM basically said that I need to find 3 more shards that don't exist before I could get the achievement. Blizzard just screwed me out of the achievement and the mount.

MISSING SHARDS? DO THIS! On your MAP click on the Handy Notes: Shadowlands and then select Shard Labor and increase icon scale as big as possible. My missing one was hidden behind a treasure chest at /way 53.51 80.61. Got 50/50 credit.
