Requiring Expedition Leader. The heck is with that?

A word of warning, some of the things required for this meta are among the most RNG-reliant achievements ever implemented in WoW.
Others require specific World Quests to be active and are tied to their completion, so in most cases you only have one try per quest to even attempt the achievement (Bless the Rains Down in Freehold, Revenge is Best Served Speedily, It's Really Getting Out of Hand, A Most Efficient Apocalypse, Adept Sandfisher, Scavenge like a Vulpera, Puzzle Performer, Nazjatarget Eliminated).
Lastly, some require long, time-gated grinds (as well as collections of rare mobs), and may take up to a few months to complete (Undersea Usurper, Mecha-Done, Expedition Leader, Maximum Effort).

To get a head start, focus on Nazjatar achieves, especially Aqua Team Murder Force and Periodic Destruction. They take around 13 weeks to complete, but can be achieved much faster if you're using multiple characters to fulfill different criteria. For Mechagon, just do all the dailies every day for Outside Influences, and gather as many parts as you can for Junkyard Machinist and Junkyard Apprentice.
Islands are on a rotation of 3 specific ones for each week, so getting Island Conqueror will take at least 4 weeks, depending how many you already have, and which ones are available.
Keep an eye out for specific BfA table missions too, it might take a while for them to appear: Azeroth at War: The Barrens, Azeroth at War: After Lordaeron, Azeroth at War: Kalimdor on Fire.
Lastly, don't forget to clear Arathi Warfront for Tour of War, the bosses don't change for a given week so you'll have to wait a long time to get all three.

Dishonorable mentions:

Combating the Corruption: requires killing rare versions of ordinary mobs, which can appear randomly after killing mobs of that type (Only 10 of them are required).
Tell Me A Tale: based purely on RNG, it requires specific mob types to appear on the island for a chance of a drop (Only 10 of them are required).
~~The Reining Champion: one of the most clunky, unfair, and frustrating achievements in the game, harder that all Darmoon races combined.~~
~~Notorious: PvP islands still cannot be entered solo, and require full teams of 3 players on each side.~~

EDIT: A recent PTR build suggests that many achievements from this meta will be nerfed, and some no longer required.
It's still a very difficult and time-consuming achievement series, but at least it's a little more bearable now.

I love the fact that they are going back and adding these. For casual solo players who like collecting, achievement hunting etc these are evergreen content that you can work on over time, great side content between patches. The fact that some of the achievements are hard is kinda the point.

The Heart of Azeroth essence achievements also need PVP as you need all the essences and three come from PVP - 1 bought with Honour, 1 needs warmode PVP in Nazjatar, and 1 needs to win a PVP island, Battleground and Epic Battleground (reward from quest - Storming the Battlefields. The Island one is probably the biggest pain.

Edit: I got Pure of Heart without getting the Nazjatar warmode essence. (Hunter - only missing the nazjatar warmode and the Storming the Battlefields essences -- do not have the Essence Essentials achievement)

Edit 2: (27 Nov): Essence Essential has been removed from the this so no PVP required now.

If you haven't started Undersea Userper (UU) or Mecha-Done (MD) yet, prioritize UU. I started doing MD during DF S4, and completed it during MoP REMIX, but it only took ~1 month (*RNG dependant). I followed it up with UU and found that two requirements take 3 months each. One takes a minimum of ~90 days of daily quests (unless you farm certain rare drops), and another takes 13 weeks of a weekly quest.

Both UU and MD dailys took me approximately 30 minutes unless you're mount-farming Soundless or other drop-related mounts (the harvester & the rust bird in Mechagon).

Ouch... This might be one of the hardest & slowest achievements to get in the game. "Mecha Done" can take several years. The RNG on that one is beyond awful.

Whelp. Before the nerf, I put in the effort to destroy 1,000 tumors and raged (but completed) reining champion. Be grateful. xD Plus, if you haven't killed the rares you need to, better start doing that now before BFA areas become more busy.

Here I am hoping that everything PvP related will be removed.
Idc about all PvP loving people out there, I don´t wanna be forced into it for a single archievement.

Edit: Please make Warfronts solo queue. Imagine waiting forever to fill your group just to get no progress bc everyone else is going for the archievement as well.

Since my comment 8 days ago it seems like they changed some things and removed the PvP part as well as certain Warfront archievements. Huge W if this is legit.

Been updated again. Essence Essential has been removed from the Full Heart Can't Lose achievement. No PVP needed now, Yay.

Now just need to hope the right islands show up to get the mythic island achievement.

A lot of people, myself included, are going to discover that "Azerothian Diplomat" is going to be an issue. My Proudmoore Admiralty rep was reset to Neutral with warbands and I haven't heard a peep about this problem despite random reddit posts. At least there's a recent support page about it.
Edit: Seems to count anyway, backdated to 2018 as of official patch day today. Still Neutral though =(

Some guildies and I were gearing up to do some Warfronts for the achieves but looks like Tour of War has been removed from Maximum Effort as well? If so, very appreciative! We just got "By Nature's Call" done for a few of us but that looks removed as well.
I was just grateful to have The Reining Champion removed but this is great too!

Check all horde and alliance characters for achievement completion. I thought I didn't have Azeroth at War completed, but I do on an alliance character, but not on my main horde character which was alliance.

I have completed every achievement back in BFA as alliance player and when i logged in today, horde parts of achievement were missing... I'm waiting for a hotfix, It's sick that they want us to reroll to another faction... Shouldn't be like this

luckily, i only had two quick alliance achievements left(Deadliest Cache and Everything old is new again) .
But for the first time its required to cover both sides which is a new layer of difficulty. Now the Legion equivalent can come. Good luck!

Two of the nazjatar achievements need a nerf badly, all the other achievements are mostly reasonable in that you just have to gather the bulk of things, over doing literally everything in the cases of puzzle performer, periodic destructions, and I thought you said they were rare. These three will simply take at least three months to complete if you are unable to spend hours at a time camping rare spawns, followed by literally being timegated for that long with periodic destruction.

Blizzard have finally gone mad.. You can have a meta.. thats fine but make it so you can do it on one character. Some people chose to play this game on one toon. I have played this game on one toon. I am Horde. I have never had an Alliance toon. This meta have broken that. To do this meta they make so you have to have an Alliance toon and a Horde toon. This is wrong. You may chose to play an alt. you may chose to have one of each toon . But never force you player base to have both. To do an achievement you shouldn'd MAKE your players have multiple toons.

No, I should not have to play the entire Horde campaign and Alliance campaign to get the meta. common grow up Blizzard.

It's honestly getting very furstrating with this archievements... you never know if you need a horde or an alliance character. Constant logging back and forth to see if things are clickable. Not to mantion the time gated nonesense that requires specific worldquests to be up.
It's fine that there's a %^&* ton of av's to do to get the meta, but the rng and not knowing what faction you need to do stuff with is horrendus.

Finally finished this today and got my lovely Jani mount! even though I wish it could fly this is still a super cool mount and I wanna leave some tips of my experience doing everything to obtain this mount, let me start 1st by saying that I was an active player during the entire BFA expansion so a lot of things I already finished while it was current content, the experience of a player that did not play at all during BFA will be very different from mine, because then you would have a lot more to do, but here´s a detail on my experience and some tips if you are looking to obtain this too:

You WILL need more than 1 character to obtain this achievement, at least 1 of each faction, if you are a player who only plays one faction this is unobtainable, so keep that in mind

1- Raid achievements for Uldir, Ny´alotha, Crucible of storms, Dazar´alor and the eternal palace are super easy to do now during the War Within expansion, you will have no issues doing them on mythic, you will easily kill almost everything but do need to know just a little on some encounters like N´zoth, Jaina and G´huun, but otherwise it is a breeze, I did all of them as current content but ran it again now to check what I am saying here.
2- for Azerothian Diplomat, this is another achievement that I already had just from playing the expansion as current content, you will need to do it on both an alliance toon and a horde one, so I can´t exactly comment on if this is easy or not, but at least the available world quests are easy to do, should be a little time consuming if you´ve never done the expansion
3- for Maximum Effort, this is another one I completed as current content, I have no tips on it but at least the objectives seem very clear and only waiting for every zone assault you need and the table missions to be up should be the only time consuming part of this
4- Through the depths of visions, took me at least 3 weeks to obtain, as I obtained 2 masks on 1 week with the stormwind vision, then the other 2 in the orgrimmar one so I did the full clear then and the next week the 4 mask run for stormwind too, you do need to do a whole bunch of runs for mementos for the We Have the Technology achievement, I recomend doing the stormwind one as it is much faster
5- Dressed to kill is super easy, as you can buy the pvp sets with marks and run multiple runs of any raid you choose to collect the full armor sets
6- BFA Dungeon Hero is a breeze with any max level toon
7- Now for War Stories I did miss some while it was current content, but this just requires a whole lot of questing, use the wowhead function on the page of a quest to check if you are missing it if it says false when you put it on the game chat, it will take some time but you could do it in a day or 2
8- Black Empire State of Mind is the last one I finished to obtain the mount, only because I did nothing but mythic + in that last patch of BFA, both Rajani and Uldum are very long reps to farm to exalted because the dailies barely give you rep, so you do need to prioritize doing both zones everyday to speed it up, while waiting for every specific zone assault to be up, the rest of achievements aren´t too difficult, just very annoying like Combating the Corruption
9- for Full Heart Can´t Lose, the only one I never did was infusing the Heart of Azeroth with a rank 4 essence, the crucible of flame is without a doubt the easiest to get to that rank so go for that one, you will need some other essences but they only need rank 3 which I already had
10- To All the Squirrels I Set Sail to see is super easy, just check where you can find each critter and give them some love

Now, these last 4 will be your most difficult challenges to finishing this achievement, and will take weeks and even months to finish:
1- Expedition Leader requires doing a $%^& ton of island expeditions, including every one of them on mythic, and since there´s only 3 up each week, that will take at least a whole month, you need over 100 + runs for the azerite admiral achievement, you can buy the pets for this on the auction house, the toughest one for me was the Tell me a Tale achievement, as the drop chances for items is complete RNG, this should be your biggest challenge, look up which mobs you need to kill and pray for luck, the rest you will complete naturally doing over 100 expeditions
2- for I´m On Island Time, you will need a LOT of patience and time, you can look up guides for where to find the rares and treasures, then also do every questline for every zone, I did that as current content, then you will need to do as many world quests as possible, there you will need to be on the lookout for specific WQs that you need for some zones like Nazmir and Voldun, this should take at least some weeks to do and you need 2 toons as well
3-Mecha-Done is the 2nd worst challenge to this, as the whole process for this achievement is another essay in of itself, from the questline to killing each rare, to doing the quests of 15 visitors, to crafting items and finishing projects as well as obtaining the vinyls and the colors for the mount, this should take you around 2 to 3 months and your biggest enemy here is RNG, even for someone like me who did this zone as current content, this was a very difficult challenge to overcome and you will need a lot of patience, a lot of gold and a whole lot of luck
4- But the biggest challenge of this is the Undersea Usurper achievement, which WILL take you no matter what, 3 whole months to finish, because of having to level each companion to rank 30, Periodic Destruction achievement used to also take 13 weeks but you can do it in less if you summon every specific mob with 13 different toons, some of the rares of the zone require a lot of effort and patience to summon but some of them have been removed thankfully, there is RNG in waiting for every specific mardivas puzzle quest to be up so you will have to wait for that one and then you just need to find the treasures, cat figures and whole bunch of other chores like Mrrl´s secret stash and levelling the zone rep to exalted, without a doubt this is your biggest challeng but with patience and a lot of will you can end it, obtain your crab mount and finally obtain the Jani mount!

Hope this helps anyone interested in farming and doing everything needed for this achievement, I enjoy playing this game and I actually really enjoyed the expansion of BFA as a whole as well as a good challenge so I am happy to be one of the few people in the world that has done it, if anything I am saying is no longer true please let me know, as I have noticed that a lot of things have been nerfed like mobs being removed from the list of rares for some zones as well as some achievements, but otherwise good luck everyone! :)

Finished this today. In total, took me 1 month and 1 day from when I "started". I say "started" in quotes because I did have much of this done in BFA. I think some parts of this were clearly worse than others and I got fairly lucky as some World Quests appeared that seems to have taken others Months. I still had to do significant parts of the grind including:

1. Almost all of Mecha-Done (I had Outside Influences completed but most others were barely started.)
2. All of Undersea Usurper (I had a handful of the normal spawn rares and some of the Periodic Destruction completed, but all others were basically untouched).
3. All of Black Empire State of Mind (This was massively accelerated as today 11.1.7 released BFA timewalking and I was able to climb from 8000/21000 all the way to exalted in both for the cost of maybe ~5000 Timewarped Badges
4. All World Quest related I'm on Island Time parts including Vulpera for a Day, Sandfishing, Revenge of Krag'wa, Swab This! and Cancel the Blood Troll Apocalypse. I also had to do the 7 Day Bee Grind and the Truffle Hunt, which sucked.

Luckily, I had completed all of War Stories and most of the Campaign/Loremaster specific ones which put most of this into a waiting or grinding game rather than content I have to play through.

And the mount is better than expected. /mountspecial hekhekhek

Sooooo...every single WQ that is needed to complete this meta can only be complete by one character per faction, per realm. Meaning, if you have 2 characters on one server and 1 of the WQ is available and you complete it using your Horde toon, the WQ will disappear from the map making it unavailable. WTH Blizzard, as if getting these wasn't already hard enough! So, to stop the haters...I always check the time left on the WQ, I have 2 sets of toons on 5 servers, and this has happened to me 3 weeks in a row now on all 5 servers! My point, your limited to 1/2 your toons so PREPARE in advance as some of these with 20 to 45 sec timers are not that easy to get!

I really, really, really hope they tune this at some point.

If you played throughout BfA, good for you, and I'm all for having old(er) content to work on. But as someone who missed out on BfA, so many of these are so extreme when they're not the current or primary content, so I have to choose between playing current, relevant content or spending all my time on this. If the argument is that I should have something I could work on for multiple years, OK. I don't like the idea, though.

It says this achievement should reward both MOTHER's Titanic Brazier and N'Zoth's Captured Eye, but I have received neither of them retroactively. Additionally when I go to MOTHER to buy them for 100k echoes each, the decor items both remain locked even though I have the Achievement.

If time gated stuff is going to drive you insane I would say skip this achievement if you did not play at all during BFA like me. The Undersea Usurper will take you like 90 days with a single character and can only be reduced to 30 days with 2 alts. On top of that the drop rate for scrying stones is abysmal and you need like 3-4 of them for Nothing To Scry About, I've only had 1 drop killing every single rare at least once and killing every one I've come across for the last 2 weeks while being in this zone for at least an hour a day. On top of that one of the mobs for I Thought You Said They'd Be Rare? is only spawned by looting these treasures so if you have bad luck or someone else gets to the mob and 1 shots it then good luck. Another rare Soundless is nearly impossible to spawn unless you want to no life. Basically Nazjatar has to have at least 1 person active in the zone for 2-8 hours to spawn. No one is ever here so that person is gonna have to be YOU sitting there doing nothing for a minimum of 2 hours.
Mecha-Done is also very time gated but I would prioritize this one after Undersea Usurper because its not nearly as bad. Though it is currently full of people due to lots of housing items being available here, so good luck tagging rares.

Other lesser time gated things include visions of N'zoth related achievements and N'Zoth assaults. Let's Bee Friends will take 7 days. You will have to complete alliance/horde assaults in every BFA zone which requires checking what is up every single day.

Some achievements under I'm On Island Time are very RNG as they require specific world quests to be up, and on top of that Chag's Challenge is bugged where you won't be able to get Lucille to spawn which is required for Adventurer of Nazmir so I would always check this one on reset. You will also have to have both an alliance and a horde character to go through various parts of the campaign and to do specific faction only world quests, as well as various parts of the campaign quests.

Overall there is just so much time gating and checking if specific things are up that this achievement will begin to feel like a slog before you are even halfway done with it. This makes it very hard to just "chip away" at it too unless you can remember what specific things you need off the top of your head when you do decide to check the BFA zones. I'm about 75% done and these are most of the major pain points I've come across. I'll come back and update as I progress more.
