How to unlock the Synthesis Forge:

Complete 3 parts of the main campaign in the Secrets of the First Ones Forming an Understanding
This will give you access to the Cypher Console
Now you need to collect Cyphers of the First Ones from rares, treasures, world quests and dailies to make Cypher Console upgrades
You need to complete the Sopranian Understanding upgrade to unlock the Synthesis Forge
After you complete this upgrade, summon Pocopoc and he will give you the Protoform Synthesis quest
This quest will bring you to the forge
/way 61.97 58.93 Protoform Synthesis Forge Location (entrance to the vault)

You will get 14 Archetype of... toys schematics from the start
and 38 schematics are from quests / treasures / objects on the ground
52 in total (2 extra to complete the Synthe-supersized!)
To craft each pet/mount you need to farm 300-500xGenesis Mote & 1 green & 1 blue extra reagents like Vombata Lattice / Glimmer of Discovery

Most reagents drop from mobs in the Zereth Mortis so just check the Dropped by tab on wowhead and farm the related area/mob
Sometimes they can be bought from vendors or found in treasures, but you can't avoid the grind
You need to farm Genesis Mote & Blue reagent. The green reagent can be bought and sold on AH

There is a serie of achievements related to protoform synthesis: Synthesized! => Synthe-fived! => Synthe-superfived! => Synthe-supersized!.
To complete these achievements you need to unlock Protoform Synthesis (Mount) & Protoform Synthesis (Battle Pet).
To unlock protoform crafting you should complete the following steps:

Complete chapters 1,2 and 3 of Secrets of the First Ones zone campaign.
Research Sopranian Understanding and complete The Final Song questlines.
After daily reset complete The Lost Component + A New Architect quests to unlock Protoform Synthesis (Mount).
Complete Protoform Synthesis quest to unlock Protoform Synthesis (Battle Pet)

Now you can use both forges to craft mounts and battle pets. Every mob / pet required 3 different components:

And the reward for such a feat of strength? Absolutely nothing. It's beyond me why some achievements like this are even made if the only thing you get from them are some achievement points.

25 mounts/pets should reward you with a pet/mount/toy or some such. And 50 mounts/pets should reward you with a title. Something like "Protoformer" or " the Synthesizer" or something else.

I would have loved to find an addon which manages my progress, shows me what reagents are already bunkered in my alts, and what I still have to farm for. Since I did not find such an addon yet, I put together a googledocs spreadsheet, for me to track my progress and to-do list (now I see my motes backlog, yuck) manually.

I furbished it a bit, maybe you'll find it useful, too.

The spreadsheet is in English language, but the object names can be displayed in English, German, and Spanish (right now), since it may come in handy to have them in the language one is playing in. Today, I discovered two addons on curseforge:

Protoform Synthesis Field Journal
Protoform Synthesis (mounts only)

I stored all the stuff (except Genesis Motes) on an alt, and both addons don't perform well on that issue - with a proper additional addon (altoholic?), mouseover would show if the part in question is hanging around somewhere else, but that's not great in respect to UI/UX. So I probably would have gone into spreadsheet business either way, but since I ~~am lazy~~ like to optimize my spare time, I probably would have gone with the PSFJ solution. I will never know, but I'd suggest you take a look before you commit yourself to manual tracking using the fine googledocs sheet linked above.

I finally got this achievement. Just want to say thank you to everyone who gave advice on farming sparks and other items. Actively started to master this achievement at the beginning of May. In total, it took me about 20 days for 2-3 hours of farming a day. Personally, I was easier to pump twink - demon hunter, for the convenience of farming.

Pay attention it is about 50 DIFFERENT creatures, and do not be a fool like me who farms nearly 20k motes and then created multiple of some pets. I will now need to farm another 5k motes because I crafted many duplicate pets, not paying attention to this KEYWORD - DIFFERENT ! Oh my ducking hell, I was too early to celebraty I finished the motes farm......
