To get Firim's Spare Forge-Tap speak with Firim located in Zereth Mortis inside the cave (Exile's Hollow).
You have to complete some main campaign quests in Zereth Mortis to unlock Firim.

Select the dialog "Can I use your Forge-Trap?" to get Firim's Spare Forge-Tap.

Firim's Spare Forge-Tap is used on Progenitor Forges throughout Zereth Mortis to obtain proto-materials.
Progenitor Forge are the brown balls (small and big).
You can get rare proto-materials to begin quests part of Traversing the Spheres. Reward: Mortis Mover.

Today the quest was up so I found:

Pollinated Extraction: /way 62.6 67.9 on the flower covered orb
Serene Pigment: /way 34.62 46.79 (climb above the entrance of the cave). First time got nothing, second nothing and third time got the pigment.
Unstable Agitant : /way 44.90 31.80 and /way 48.86 70.53
Energized Firmament: /way 52.68 29.51
Incorporeal Sand: /way 59.08 24.36
Honeycombed Lattice : /way 64.12 59.24
Volatile Precursor: /way 48.57 59.17 (took a while, something like 30 casts on the orbs nearby)
Wayward Essence: That one was hard, I tried on a few spots without success and finaly found at /way 32.81 40.36 PRECISELY.
Standing on the same orb but a few steps away won't work so I just moved and spammed the item. To get there I used the venthyr ability to climb up the big orb on the cliff behind the cave then as a mage I used slow fall with mount and just slided on the orb with proto avian around it.
Empyrean Essence: /way 46.29 68.40
To get Anima-charged Yolk you need Ephemera Strands. ~~But today, the item doesn't exist in the game. HOW FUNNY. So you can't get it.~~ it's been fixed and I got a lot popping in my bag.

Other items:

Trace Enigmet I found it on every orb in Provis Fauna after looting the circlet
Eidolic Particles at /way 49.70 59.88 on the big orb after looting the circlet

Is there a rhyme or reason to this? Do you just run up to spheres and use Firim's Forge Tap? Is there any meaning to when the sphere appears shielded? When people say they kept trying a sphere, do you just spam the Forge tap?

Are the "rare" materials you receive of any use? Or do you just vendor them?

Just got it now , was farming earlier and after small break i logged in and had like 55+ Ephemera Strands in my bags, made 3 bags got pet , 2 keys , then farmed to make 4th bag and got last one to finish achievment.

Just got my last Wayward Essence for the achievement at /way 36.2, 71.1
Facing North-East while stood inside the sphere. I used Door of Shadows to get up

Just found an Incorporeal Sand at big orb 57, 51.
Also found Honeycombed Lattice at 64, 59 near Furidan spawn point
Found Empyrean Essence at 51, 85

The small orb atop the large orb at Faith's Repose does not have a cooldown timer. I was able to Forge Tap every 4s and quickly grinded Anima-Charged Yolk.

Requires Venthyr Door of Shadows to reach. /way 35.20, 44.31

EDIT: I am using Firim's Spare Forge-Tap. It may not work with the quest item.

EDIT2: I managed to recreate the bug. I left to finish the achievement, returned to find the orb having a cd. I glided to the orb at 34.62 46.79, Forged-Tapped, returned to the orb at 35.20, 44.31 and it became spammable.

Got my wayward Essence here 35.89, 70.49 was 1 shot had to use gateway once on the small circle of branches and then once more to get onto the small orb to face the larger orb with water falling out of it.

For anyone looking to farm up the Kismetric Circlet, FINISH the world quest, ask Firim for another Firim's Spare Forge-tap and then use it on the same orbs in the quest area that you used to complete the quest (takes ~1 to 30 tries). (Credit for figuring this out goes to Pride-TIchondrius.)

This can be completed using multiple characters.

Each one you collect on each character counts toward the achievement.

Worth noting - when using Firims Spare Forge Tap you should be facing the sphere you want to extract from. The range it can do this if facing right direction is actually quite far. If you are facing away it will just say not found, even if you are next to or ontop of the sphere.

All hard-to-reach spheres can be reached with Portal Initiator and Goblin Glider Kit when daily quest Portal Play is active. You don't need flying or Door of Shadows.

For the Anima-charged Yolk i recommend the small Orb on the coords 35.19, 44.32. i could use the Firim's Spare Forge-tap infinitely on that orb to farm Ephemera Strands.
EDIT: seems like blizz fixed that spot

FYI, when I achieved Traversing the Spheres today, the Mortis Mover was added DIRECTLY INTO MY TOY BOX. Unlike other toys, I received no item in my bag, nor any notification in the chat box of having received the toy. However, it was in my toy box and when I tested it, it worked as expected: I walked on a ball very, very slowly.

You can ask Firim for Spare Forge Tap (and, might as well, unstable containment trap) whenever you want, once you have completed the quest once. ie. the quest does not have to be up to get the Achievement and toy. I think they last about 12 hours then pick up another one. I just keep both of them in my bag until both achievements are done. PS we need more bag space!

Thanks for everyone for sharing these great information's, I just want add two things, I done this achievement today and I used all information's from others here, I want say that there is a chance that some of these items will gain from other stones, for some reason they share stones, other thing I want say that there is a cooldown in each stone you discover, so my advice that to use raid finder (Antros groups) to change realm and farm faster, when you already farmed all stones and you are in cooldown (the cooldown not that much) but because I focused on item by item in this achievement.

it's mentioned on the individual proto-material item pages, but worth mentioning here that you can vendor the proto-materials. They're just used for this achievement; they're not actual crafting materials.

I present Traversing the Spheres to reach it you must Find 10 Items.

First speak with Firim to get Firim's Spare Forge-Tap. Firim is located in cave 35,2 45,6. Or do it when WQ Materials of Creation is up ( when you finish WQ but you will not do Achi don't wary now you cen get this item from NPC ).

Then Use Firim's Spare Forge-Tap on Stone Orbs, You need to face them and is not working on all Stone Orbs, if You use item on Orb and nothing is happening just move to next one.

Main Reward from achivement is Mortis Mover but during it you can get Geordy or Provis Cache Key to open treasure Locked Provis Cache.

Im not sure if Items are droping from all Stones in 100% drop rate. If not you will need to wait 3 min to use on same Stone Orb.

The coordinates that I received these items are:

Pollinated Extraction: /way 68.8 67.8
- This spawns on any ball that has white flowers on. There aren't that many but the drop rate of this one seems pretty good.

Honeycombed Lattice: /way 64.2 59.2
- This spawns near vespoid enemies. The east side has the most balls to tap.

Unstable Agitant: /way 48.8 93.8
- This one drops in the Catalyst Gardens at the bottom of the map

Empyrean Essence: /way 56.4 81.8
- This spawns in the grassy areas where no other items spawn. Where you first zone into Zereth Mortis drops these according to Wowhead.

Incorporeal Sand: /way 43.0 29.9
- This one spawns in the desert areas. Anywhere that has sand basically.

Volatile Precursor: /way 42.8 59.8
- This spawns in the Forge of the Afterlives, the centre ring of Zereth Mortis.

Energized Firmament: /way 48.2 30.2
- This spawns where the cosmic energy bar appears on the map. These forge's have gold liquid oozing from the bottom.

Serene Pigment: /way 34.4 46.7
- This spawns in quiet areas, like Exile's Hollow

Wayward Essence /way 51.7 90.00
Near Firim's cave /way 32.7 39.3
- This spawns from forge's that are high in the air or outside the map

The Anima-Charged Yolk is gained from collecting the Ephemera Strands combining 15 of these, giving you an Ephemera Orb. Opening the ephemera orb has a chance to give you the yolk.
