Patch 3.3 will present Icecrown Citadel, an expansive raid similar to the length of Ulduar.

The raid will feature around 12 raid encounters including the fight against Lich King himself at the summit of the instance atop the Frozen Throne.

Similar to the Crusaders Coliseum, the raid will feature:
10 man normal/10 man heroic

Blizzard confirmed at Blizzcon that the instance would reuse the waypoint teleport system introduced in Ulduar and that players would interact with Tirion Fordring and the Argent Crusade/Ebon Blade forces aswell as your own faction leaders.

It is currently unclear whether there will be another raid added between the release of Icecrown Citadel and Cataclysm, but with the defeat of the Lich King all loose ends and stories within the WotLK expansion should come to a close.

The raid doesnt have 14 bosses it has 12. And the faction you help is the Ashen Verdict which is the combination of The Argent Crusade and The Knights of the Ebon Blade. Its gonna be like the new Black Temple and will be release before Cataclysm.

There is a teleportation-system much like the one in Ulduar, except this one has a super-cool iceblocking animation, when you use it.
The bosses drop 2 each in 10man normal (don't know for others yet).

Icecrown Citadel has arrived!

I haven't done this, except for the first room. But what I do know about that first room is be prepared for the unexpected. By unexpected I mean giant skeleton's coming outof nowhere! They are called Deathbound Wards. About 1,600k health on normal if I'm not mistaking. They casts disrupting roar every now and then, which stops your casting and prevents you from casting anything in that school for a few seconds. I'm not sure how much of the instance these guys are in, but if you hear a yell "I am... awakened!" or "The masters Sanctum has been desturbed!" or something to that affect, get ready for them. Other then that, the first room before Lord Marrowgar is generally easy. The fights include creatured called "The Damned", "Servents of the Throne", and some nerbuian i forge the name of ( :D ). The Servents use a spell that shoots ice spikes out of te floor in front of them (much like the Gormok the Treeshaper fight in Nexus) and the nerubians use the Nerubian signiture Crypt Scarabs. This first room also has a repair, the Ashden Verdict vendors (including Quartermaster) and a Dalaran port. Oh by the way, Tirion and Arthas yell at eachother, along with BOLOVAR FORDRAGON! Who remembers him dieing at the Wrath Gate? Well Arthas says "My new champion has resisted for so long, but soon he shall be mine" (or something like that) then Bolovar yells "NEVER! I WILL NEVER SERVE YOU!".

Thats aboutit for first room, after that I have no idea. But some other stuff of ICC...

Those of you who are all, YEAH LETS GO KILL LICH KING!, he isn't here yet. Blizzard is releasing ICC wing by wing. At the moment only Storming the Citadel is out. By march 2010 We will be able to kill the Lich King, so more waiting :'(

Thats about it. The last thing I have to say is that the Lich King DOES die, he doesn't teleport off at 1% health. Which I'm happy about :)

There's currently a problem with the ICC area and the summoning stone due to the area's phasing. Members who are in different phases won't see each other or the portal outside.

There is a phasing problem at the Icecrown Citadel summoning stone at the moment because not every player have completed the questchain that takes place below the Citadel itself.

The first quest in the chain:

Exploit an Opening (alliance)
Opportunity (horde)

This quest is given from Thassarian on the Skybreaker for alliance and Koltira Deathweaver on Orgrim's Hammer for horde once the player have completed the questchain to take over The Shadow Vault (alliance) The Shadow Vault (horde) in the favor of the Knights of the Ebon Blade, a questchain wich in turn starts with It's All Fun and Games (alliance) It's All Fun and Games (horde). Once the Shadow Vault is in the possesion of the Ebon Blade, you will be able to do 1 of the 2 quests mentioned above, depending on your faction.

Completing the questchain up to Return to the Surface (alliance) or Return to the Surface (horde). (although, there is a possibility the phasing issue will be gone once you've completed the second quest in the chain, Securing the Perimeter, or Establishing Superiority. But you'll miss some good lore if you skip the rest of the chain, should the phasing issue be gone at this point.)

The quest you mention, and which many players belive cause the problem is Battle Before the Citadel, but this quest will only phase you at the courtyard, and the phasing will only take place if you have the quest in your log, so abandoning it or completing it will remove the phasing.

As you know by now, it's a rather complex procedure to remove the phasing issue at the summoning stone if you've not already done most of the quests in Icecrown.

Been brutally maimed over, over, and over again by means of Deathbringer Saurfang? Have no fear, the doctor is here!

First, I'd recommend using a Rib Spreader first in order to avoid Bloodfall Trauma before starting the rather difficult Lungbreaking and Heartpiercing surgery. Saurfang is infamously noted to crush the chest in a whirling rage, resulting in both heart and lung disfunction. Hopefully you performed the surgery flawlessly, unless you want to give your subject some Last Words before failing to do any of the previously stated, thus inducing Rigormortis and the subject seeing the Dying Light, resulting in the location of a far away, Distant Land.

When teleporting into upper spire, DO NOT walk forward immediately. The blue steam will isnta-gib you. Pretend you're playing Mario and wait for each smoke to clear before stepping forward to wait for the next. If you have a rogue, have them look at the left hand wall, just past the first smoke emitters and there's an "inconspicuous switch" they can trip to turn off the smoke machines. Move forward at your leisure.

I would like to comment that if you don't have rogue to see those traps that trigger Deathbound Ward in Icecrown Citadel, and no warlock to use the Eye of Kilrogg, you can use Crashin' Thrashin' Racer Controller. I used it and i was able to trigger the traps far in advance.

i believe in icecrown citadel the lich king fight will be like the ulduar one, you have a faction leader that wants to defeat the lich king to choose from,Darion,Saurfang,Muradin if not those last 2 then Jaina and Sylvanas.

I have a question regaurding raid progression that I can't seem to find an answer to anywhere... perhaps someone can answer it here for me.

When ICC was released, there were blue posts stating that each individual had to progress through the raid in order. IE you had to complete the Lower Spire before moving on to the Plagueworks, and so on...

What I'm confused about is whether or not this has to be done each week, or only once. For instance, I've finished the Lower Spire and have the Achievement, but next week do I have to do it again before proceeding to Plagueworks, or can I just join a group that happens to already be there? I have to pug everything because my constantly changing schedule prevents me from being in a solid raiding guild.

Along with this, I have a similar question....

Let's say this week I go through Lower Spire with one group, and we quit for the night.... in the same week, am I able to join up with another group for the Plaqueworks as long as I didn't move in to it with the first group?

Any help with this would be great.... I'd love to kill the Lich King eventually, but if I can't do the wings with different groups, I dont think that will be a possibility for me...

I realy don't quite get why these bosses are here, in ICC. I was really expecting some lore wise (although the Deathbringer/Saurfang the Younger was okay) characters like Kel'thuzad and Anub'arak again or something or Falric and Marwyn (In the raid instead of the 5-man). Those guys were more awsome and had more lore than the new characters in Icecrown Citadel... I mean ICC is too epic and had lots of lore on it. I know blood-queen lana'thel is the queen of the san'layn but there was nothing much about the san'layn, there are not too many of them and does not have that MUCH lore on them. Lady Deathwhisper is one of the co-leaders of the cult of the damned but that's it. Sindragosa is the consort of Malygos and probably the most strongest of the frostwyrms (unless LK somehow finds out how to raise Malygos as a frostwyrm! :O ) but that's probably it. Was really expecting more in Icecrown Citadel than this.

I've cleared 1st wing like 3 times already. And killed Festergut once. My question is, supposing im Raid Leader, everytime ICC resets i need to do all 1st wing bosses again or can i jump to 2nd wing directly, since i cleared 1st wing before (and have the achiev)?

to answer your question......

yes, you have to clear the place out every time, this raid works like any other raid, after the reset, all trash and bosses reset, and you must clear it from the start again.

progresion order is like this:

Enter the lower spire, kill trash, kill marrowgar, kill more trash, kill deathwisper.

Enter the elevator, kill more trash, do the gunship battle, and kill Deathbringer.

after this point, you can choose wich wing you wish to clear first, the choises being Plageworks (with festergut, rotface and putricide) or Crimson halls (blood-princes, and blood queen) or Frostwing halls (sindragosa, Dreamwalker)

these 3 can be cleared in any order, and once all 3 are cleared, you can go to the frozen throne and kill the lich king.

now, as you clear each wing, you get access to teleporters (as in if you wiped on the plageworks, when all the raid enters the instance again you don't have to walk all the way up there, just take the teleporter and get to the plageworks at once)

and this works for all wings on this site, however, these teleporters just like the bosses and trash, reset every tuesday.

this is the same mechanism for ALL raids that have multiple bosses, to prevent people from zoning in, killing the last boss and leaving.

in naxxramas you had to clear each wing (construct plage military and spider) before unlocking saph's wing and then only then you can enter kel'tuzad's room, and this must be done every time you go to naxx regardless of how many times u've cleared the 4 wings in the past (they nerfed it slightly, you can access saph's wing without clearing the other 4, but you still need to clear the 4 wings to kill kel'tuzad)

Likewise in ulduar you must clear the siege of ulduar, then the antechamber, then the keeper's ward, and then yogg's prison.

it would be really game-breaking that after clearing all wings of ICC; from that point foward you can just zone in and kill the lich king skipping all other bosses and trash.

if something like that was posible, then nobody would bother to kill the lower bosses and jump ahead to the last boss, thus breaking the experience of clearing the zone.

((of course, that being said, in a future expantion, older raids get nerfed, allowing the players to skip bosses if you want to, on SSC you can go straight at vashj, in TK you can go straight at kael'thas, so maybe in a couple of expantions into the future, players will be able to skip some wings of this place, just as it can be done in older raids))

blizzard has already stated that no more raids will be released till cataclysm.

Do take into consideration that from the release of Naxx40 (back on vanilla) to the release of the new expac Burning crusade, more than 6 months and a half passed.

and from the release of the Sunwell in TBC to the release of WOTLK more than 7-8 months passed.

we don't know how long will it be till the release of cataclysm, we DO know that it's on 2010 (Blizzard's CEO Mike Morhaime has stated that they intend to release the expansion sometime in 2010)

we can expect a waiting time of min 6 months or max 9 months till cataclysm hits the stores.

mastering ICC25 heroic will take more than that for the average guids, so there will be plenty of stuff to do in the meantime.

I do believe that more patches could be released from here to cataclysm, to patch gradually the changes to azeroth, but as far as raids and instances goes, Frozen halls, and ICC are the pinnacle of 5man and 10/25 man content in this expantion.

Edit: well I'll be damned, it seems blizzard loves to go back on their word, first they promise every expac will have a hero class only to have cataclysm have none, then they swear that ICC will be the pinnacle of raiding in WOTLK, and it seems that was a lie too.

Patch 3.3.5 is confirmed to host a new raid called the Rubi sanctum, a place in the same style as the obsidian sanctum where we face against the twillight dragonflight.

so yhea........ this will not be the last raid in WOTLK.

The only bosses to have a background lore before their introduction here were Sindragosa, Blood-Prince Council, Blood-Queen Lana'thel, and Valithria Dreamwalker. Lore-wise, Tirion's champions attempt to fight the Lich King, but are all killed by a single attack. Tirion saves them, and finishes him off.

I had a break in World of Warcraft during the ICC opening. Now I'm back and I found a guild that, tonight, will do Professor Putricide, The Crimson Hall, The Frostwing Halls and , maybe, The Lich King... I want to know if the bosses that I wrote give Emblems of Frost, and if them give I want to know how many. I'm asking this because I saw their drops but I didn't see the Emblems there...

Here's some predictions on how hard the bosses will be in Cataclysm. In general, it's likely going to be like Sunwell Plateau is now; significantly less difficult than before, but many fights will have mechanics that can wipe you.

-Lord Marrowgar: Raids that know how to get people down from the spikes and don't stand in the flames should be fine.

-Lady Deathwhisper: This battle will most likely get much easier, much like M'uru did, since the players are able to kill the adds more quickly. However, they may need to know which ones they need to kill, and should avoid Death and Decay (which, unlike M'uru's Darkness, doesn't spawn in a fixed area)

-Gunship Battle: The lootship will most likely still be the lootship, but considering that the cannons aren't affected by people's stats, they won't have as much of an advantage.

-Deathbringer Saurfang:Marks of the Fallen Champion will be significantly easier to heal through, although players will need to avoid recklessly AOEing the Blood Beasts.

-Festergut: As a DPS race, this will be much easier as long as the tanks don't fall prey to Gastric Explosion.

-Rotface: Players will need to kite the Unstable Oozes and not stand in the slime, but if they exercise common sense, they should easily defeat him.

-Professor Putricide: Players will most likely still need to avoid Malleable Goo and Poison Gas bombs, and may need to use the "abomination" (technically called a flesh titan) here.

-Blood Prince Council: It's likely that more than a few PUGs won't know to switch targets in this phase or how to tank Keleseth, and Empowered Shock Vortex will likely still be quite damaging

-Blood Queen: The bites will still be an issue, more for avoiding the mind control than maximizing damage. The raid will likely have the DPS to get through without a specific bite order.

-Valithria Dreamwalker: The Suppressors and Blazing Skeletons will still present problems, as will the unique nature of the fight, but if players give priority to them and use the dream portals, this fight will be much easier.

-Sindragosa: The Frost Tombs will likely be the main raid killers for those who can't spread out, particularly if the healers get frozen. The debuffs are more manageable, but it's somewhat unlikely that people could zerg through Phase 3 without resetting their stacks.

-The Lich King: It's possible that people could kill the Horrors in Phase 1 without Necrotic Plague, but they will need to deal with it appropriately, as no one will be able to survive more than two stacks. The Raging Spirits will likely be less powerful, but the Ice Spheres can still throw people off the platform. The Valkyrs will likely still be deadly for the same reason in Phase 2 if the raid isn't paying attention, and if people don't move out of Defile, they will likely still wipe the raid. Phase 2.5 and 3 won't be as difficult, and raids that get this far will likely get through them, too, but they still require care, especially with Defile.

We tried to get many week, but at the last week we can't earn the last achievement: All You Can Eat.
We really hope, the drake doesn't delete in Cataclysm, or
the remove time slide to end of this year, so we get chance to earn the achievement in this year. We hope we can earn the achievement, we're think this is really nice Christmas present. *<l:-)

Tried my hand at soloing in 25man normal as a lvl 84 prot paladin. It was going ok and I could kill The Damned mobs but I was unable to get past the swarm of new spawns so eventually I was overwhelmed (6 at once was far too painful), but not before killing 3 of them. Was trying for some boe epics but at this point Ill just try for the boss kills in 10man normal, im pretty confident I have a better chance at that but Im still skeptical. Should at least be able to farm the trash for rep and such though.

what happened to the videos? all across the board all videos that were linked to encounters were wiped clean when the site transitioned over to the cata skin...would like to see the vids put back if possible there are still ppl trying to at least attempt to go through this raid and others as well i am sure...i have been in several of these pugs and it feels like raid progression all over again for something that has been done thousands of times before

Can you walk straight to Lich King now after killing the 4th boss? (Deathbringer Saurfang)

I've heard rumors about it, however finding information has been a challenge. Most info out on the web is related to Tactics/Guides etc.

Does anyone notice that Icecrown Citadel (the building you see before going inside the raid) looks very similar to Mordor in The Lord of the Rings? Also that the Lich King looks very similar to Sauron?

There appears to be some erroneous information out there that characters under 80 can be summoned into the raid instance via warlock portal. A level 77 in my guild was convinced he could be summoned into the raid instance so to humor him my warlock and a couple of friends tried but of course, we got "invalid target".

For Death Knights working through the bosses in the various wings of ICC...do yourself a favor and grab a plague scientist. Here's your macro for 100% increased damage!

Anyone know how far you can get on a Paladin? I'm Ret currently, but with only 463 iLvl, and I got to Saurfang but couldn't drop him below 50% or so due to his healing and stacking buff, plus the fact that you can't bubble off his mark debuff. Maybe I can burn him down faster with a bit of gear, especially since I have a blue weapon still, but maybe there's a trick I'm missing as well? Thanks for any info!

If you're running ICC with an 80 twink mage then if you have a DK make him control Plague Scientist and give Plague Stream to the mage. To those of you who are unaware, 80 twink mages can reach 500-1000k DPS in ICC with this buff. Making bossfights even on 25m HM very easy.

Just tried soloing 25m on my DK.

Morrogaw was actually easy. He never got my health low and I beat him with my tank gear well before enrage so would have been easier as blood + DPS gear.

Lady Deathwhisper is very hard. One of the adds casts a curse which adds a 15 second CD to all of your abilities. Tried a few times focusing on those adds when they were up but couldn't kill them fast enough and kept getting cursed. Don't see how any class could do this as only mage can remove the curse. Switched to 10 man and killed with no problems.

I figured the boat was gonna be very hard so did on 10 man using the tactic Maulis425 posted. This was then very easy 10 man so will try again 25 man another week.

Saurthang - well this was going well but I couldn't beat the enrage timer was just under 50% on enrage using blood spec and DPS gear. The damage during this fight is considerable so I think a tank class with exceptional DPS could do this but not sure if locks / hunters could keep their pets alive for the whole fight.

I wiped many times on Festergut, with his 40m health and 5 minute enrage timer this fight is very difficult. You need 133k DPS to beat the enrage timer. The trick for doing this as a DK is to MC a plague scientist before you start the fight. The plague scientist has an ability which buffs your damage 100%. Festergut puts a stacking buff on you (10% damage increase) but if you reach 10 stacks you will die. DKs can avoid by cast Anti Magic Shell as he casts his 9th stack. If you time this right your stacks will reset. I wasn't able to kill him but I know it can be done.

Compared to Festergut Rotface was easy. You can MC a plague scientist for this fight as well and with the 100% increased damage I got him on my first attempt.

This is as far as I've got to date would love to hear from others how their soloing of 25 man went.

If you're still struggling to find the entry, here is the easiest way to do it, even on my low graphics with no view distance spare laptop I can find it:

1) On the NW corner (52.70, 83.50) there is a long set of stairs leading to a gargoyle mouth at ground level. Fly (at low distance view) with the ground visible until you find the stairs.

2) Don't bother landing but rather fly up while travelling South West

3) You should arrive in the area of (50.85, 89.40) where there is a middle-tier platform. From here you can easily find ( 52.14, 89.38 )

The dungeons are easily soloable at 90 for infinite dust.

Patch 5.3 seems to have broken the way lockouts can be switched from 10 man to 25 man heroic. Previously, when farming LK 25M H the lockout switching from 10 man normal (11/12) to 25 man heroic was able to be switched while outside the instance. Upon attempting to do this after patch day for 5.3 it had not worked. After some research and testing you can now get it to work by doing the same thing with the exception of setting it to heroic while outside. Outside of the instance it should be switched from 10 man to 25 man and then once you zone in on 25 man normal you can switch it to heroic which will then give you a 25 man heroic lockout that is 11/12.

ICC is, from all of the raids that I have done, is my favourite. The architecture is epic, it features the Lich King, and the loot is great. Also, the achievement mounts are the best mounts ingame. The only raid that compares to this one is the Molten Core, and that is only because I love gearing up in raid gear.

Some good advice on here but be careful. If you want to try & solo this raid as a 90 make sure you are; a) A Tank & b) Very well geared.

Of the 1st 3 bosses the gunship is the toughest, mainly because it is the actual ship that is the Boss, not its commander or Mage. If you don't get the sequencing right in terms of; cannon fire, portal clear out, Mage kill, you will come a cropper.

Saurfang is a tough fight for pure dps units, but the Upper Tier Bosses are far worse. Forget the dragon that needs healing unless you can perform this function (simply click one of the green orbs & move on).
The 3 Princes are also a damn hard battle. You need to make sure you keep targeting the correct one as they swap stats at intervals during the fight.

Frankly if you're pure dps it's gonna be very hard to complete. Most of our group are ilvl550 & not 1 has got past the Crimson thingy wing.

As a small 3 man group this raid is doable as just dps characters, but really it's Tank or nothing unless you have some good tricks.

Edit: Actually, this turns out not to be a tough as the 1st run proved. Beat down everyone 2nd time around. Lich King was not so bad as I thought, just stay with your back to his throne (on or at bottom of steps) to avoid the big knock back. There is a wait until frozen ally finishes him off, so don't get impatient after getting him down to 10% (you have won).

As of 6.0.2 this place is almost obscenely easy to solo. So far I've solo'd through Festergut/Rotface on 25 man.

The only one you can't do on 25 man is the Gunship Battle. I tried 6-7 times before switching to 10man and beating it easily. Everything else has been a cakewalk so far though.

For some reason after killing all bosses except lich king on 10hc, everytime I switched to 25 player it switched back to 10 mode automatically.
So Invincible farmers beware!
