Demoralizing Roar acts like a Warrior's Demoralizing Shout. It caues an AoE debuff to enemy Attack Power.

what other abilities over write this? that warlock curse of weakness? some warlock in my group was using it on some boss the other night, and i couldnt get this debuff to land. was i just having bad luck, or can they both not be on simultaniously?

i dont know why the lock was using that curse, but we didnt really have dps issues so i never said anything.

What bothers me is that very few druids ever use this ability when tanking, when it actually reduces the damage they take by quite a large margin. Usually by about 5-10%.

According to this Maexxna Beast Lore test, a fully talented roar reduces top end boss melee damage by 3.9% (=an additional 3.5%) and low end boss melee damage by 5.5% (=an additional 4.8%) relative to an untalended demo roar.

A fully talented roar reduces top end boss melee damage by 12.4% and low end boss melee damage by 17%.
A non talented roar reduces top by 8.9% and low by 12.2%.

Edit: This was true for the original Demoralizing Shout/Roar. With Cataclysm, Demoralizing Roar's effect was simplified to reduce physical damage taken by the caster by 10%. And with Mists of Pandaria, Demoralizing Roar was removed, replacing it with the present Incapacitating Roar.

4.1.0.13914 Patch notes: Prowl is no longer broken by enemies using Demoralizing Shout or Incapacitating Roar.

From patch 5.0.4 Demoralizing Roar (10% enemy physical damage reduction) is removed from game.
And replaced with Disorienting Roar.

Absolutely love this tallent. Its can be used as a small aoe cc. Very handy for new enemies, interupting spells, running away e.t.c. One other thing that's more for fun but really nice is that its useable in Flight Form, so if you have a gathering prof like herbalism and you catch agro while in flight form you can cast this, take the node/ herb uninterupted!

Like many talents, this was originally something else (Demoralizing Roar); it is now a Tier 5 Talent for Druids, along with Mighty Bash and Ursol's Vortex.

From my experiences, Incapacitating Roar seems slightly better than Mighty Bash due to the lower cool down (sure, it's 2 seconds less of a stun, but I look at it as an interrupt more than a stun).

Ursol's Vortex seems more appropriate for pvp, or at least fairly limited pve use. Maybe a boomkin / healer would get more mileage out of Ursol's Vortex than a melee cat or bear (I do not play either, so can only guess).

My bear tank loves Disorienting Roar, for obvious reasons, and my kitty seems to like Mighty Bash, but also doesn't mind the Roar. As always, your mileage may vary.
