All ways to avoid it:

Be dead (obviously)
Levitate
Jump (mind your ms, you are more likely to jump too late then you are too jump early)

If you're a drood, you can shift shapes to break static cling.

As of 4.0.6 Resto Druids have "Disentanglement" that allows their shapeshifting to break roots Static cling (whereas other druids lost this ability)

Remove Corruption no longer dispels Static cling. This was tested by spamming Remove Corruption (with resto talent) on myself when I got rooted.

Anecdotally I've heard second hand that a priest couldn't dispel Static cling either.

We all eventually had to keep jumping around to avoid it.

Fury warriors can use to dispel the debuff if they get caught.

Hunter's should be aware that they could break Static Cling using Master's Call

Mass Dispel definitely dispels it. I'm not 100% positive that the regular dispel does as well, but I missed the hunter with Mass Dispel one time and used regular dispel, and it went away... but that could just be coincidence and he may have used Master's Call at the same time.

However I can in fact confirm with 100% certainty that Mass Dispel does indeed dispel it.

edit: Of course, if you can communicate to your group that they should jump, it's a lot better on your mana pool :)
