Very situational skill. You must know beforehand that noone in the party requires additional healing during the ten seconds that this spell is channeled. With a secondary healer the problem is easily circumvented.

Long cooldown and situational use makes it more of a "fluff-spell" to many druids. Personally I've found it pretty useful in some cases when the party takes AoE damage. Coupled with the spell Barkskin you can also cast it uninterrupted.

One of the better and cool spells as a druid. Downside is when you get hit you usually lose about 1/3 of the time left of the spell and also its only party not a full raid if there around you.

This spell only heals your party, not an entire raid. You also have to learn when to cast it because I've seen alot of druids who think they can let their party get low health and then just use this -- wrong. I've found this is best used when nobody needs a huge heal, and when you would be wasting mana by healing every person individually. I find myself only using it after a battle where we need to heal up quickly, it is usually such a waste in mana though.

Probably one of the more insane healing spells out there. Throw this on w/barkskin and even with 90% of an instance slamming on you you'll out-heal them lol.

It's worth noting that this spell can affect party members outside of your LOS (line of sight).

This is extremely useful in arena, since there are several LOS obstructions.

Being able to use a heal of this potency while staying pretty well hidden is something that only a druid can pull off.

Realize that this spell only has a 30 yard range, as opposed to other heals (40 yards). You may want to move closer to your damaged party members before you begin channeling, otherwise you may waste quite a bit of mana >.>

If you are not Restoration and lack Swiftmend and Nature's Swiftness, this spell combined with Barkskin is surprisingly useful for healing a single target in emergencies, whether yourself or another, although with a high mana cost; it will top the player in question off far faster than any of your other HoT spells, and in my experience, for some reason people don't seem to use an Interrupt skill on Tranquility as much as they do Regrowth or Healing Touch.

This is a most potent healing spell, especially for 5v5 arena combat. Base, this spell will heal 6072 damage over 8 seconds to all party members, yielding roughly 30,360 health. That is base, without any +healing involved.

Remember, this can be used to full advantage assuming you use Barkskin. Make a macro;

/castsequence Barkskin, Tranquility

...which will cast Barkskin the first time it is pressed and Tranquility the second. With two simple button taps you can have an uninterpretable (except through stuns, which your party should be keeping away) juggernaut of a heal. This is a spell that Priests curse our name for =) Use this wonderful gift!

This spell is great! i'v saved my team for dieing with this about 5 times in dungeons and raids the 10 min cooldown is bad and the fact u have to clannel it it draws all agro to u then bam ur dead then group wipe :( other than that this spell rocks! :)

Combined with Barkskin, you can channel this spell without interrupt. You will have alot of threat, however.

As a tank, if you nee quick aggro. pop barkskin and this and you can heal your party and generate a large amount of aggro quickly. but be careful with it as you can easily end up dieing instead.

Can anyone confirm/deny whether this spells works during the zero-gravity phases in the Kael'Thas fight in Magister's Terrace?
When my druid healer used it it didn't seem to heal anyone, and he figured it was because none of us were in the ground. I suspect he was just not close enough to the group but I don't know.

It's good that the talent http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?spell=17124 reduces the cooldown now and will be able to use it more frequently instead of every 10 minutes. so it will be like every 4 minutes not that bad. less dying ;)

With 1800 spell power (level 80 blues), this heals for about 4500 a tick. It's nice in situations where your group pulls more than they thought they were going to, especially when you have the talent to make it threat-free and on a 4-min cooldown. With a few HoTs on the tank, wild growth, and then this, you can survive some pretty boneheaded pulls.

It has a 30 yard radius (not 40 yards like other healing spells, so you may need to stand closer), but it heals all your raid members too, even if they're not in your group. It costs about 2500 mana, which is pretty expensive til you do the math and realize this can heal (4500 health) (4 ticks) (25 raid members) = 450,000 health. Yes, you read that right.

As mentioned on lower ranks, barkskin first, especially if you don't have the "causes 100% less threat" talent, because without that, as you can imagine, healing for 450,000 tends to cause some aggro. Even if you do have that talent, and even if your tank is perfect and has control of all mobs, it's worthwhile to barkskin in case you take some aoe damage.

One day I just happened to notice the following... not that it's very useful anymore:

Tier 1 8-piece set bonus and Improved Tranquility.

Depending on how these work you might manage to get tranquility off a cooldown, or at least on a very short one.

Also, will add, terrific healing move. Good for those AoE mobs, keeps everyone alive. You just have to be back farther than the AoE can hit. =P

These kind of things are multiplicative, not additive, meaning if you had the talent and the set equipped, tranq. would have a cooldown of 120 seconds (2 minutes). Not so hot, considering the talent alone reduces the cooldown from 10 minutes to 4.
Oh, you got a druid and tested this?
Because when I equip 8/8 T1 and spec into 2/2 Improved Tranquility with my druid, then Tranquility has no cooldown at all.

In his defence, pretty much all other factors like this are not additive and as both are % values it seems very likely it would be a 2 mintue CD rather than none. But that is pretty cool, I reckon constantly casting tranquility sounds like a fun way of raid healing.

Considering it's base value is actually pretty good, having the tier 1 bonus would be great in certain situations.

Unfortunately, whenever something is situational it usually means it's only good against Loathlab, and I'm not sure it's worth it gathering T1 for anything more than fun.

How easy would it be for a druid to gather T1 out of interest?

Tranquility is fully covered by clearcasting in terms of mana cost - viz if you pop tranquility when clearcasting is on the cost will be 0. This can be very useful to know when you get cornered mana-wise (Gvezax) and it can give the extra heal that you need to make the kill happen.

A nifty trick:

For the ultimate faceroll heroic healing spec, get the full tier 1 Cenarion Rainment set. Its 8 piece set bonus is a 50% reduction to Tranquility's CD. Combine that with the 60% CD reduction from 2/2 Improved Tranquility, and you got yourself a Tranquility with no CD!

As for mana issues, there are none! You will constantly proc clearcasting, so you pretty much only have to spend mana to blow the very first one.

A friend of mine put this set together. I helped him enchant the hell out of it (it's all level 60, so WotLK chants work for it) and found some good trinkets to boost spellpower and haste, so he is able to heal the whole group for 5-6k (depending on trinket procs) every 1-1.7 secs (again, depending on trinket procs) on a constant basis.

We've only tested it outside of heroics on a few bosses in Naxx thus far, but this makes him an excellent tank healer (as well we anyone in party, usually melee). Think of something like Patchwerk, healing both tanks for that amount.

The one major problem we've run into is stamina. Self buffed, he had about 14k hp, which means death from some boss AoE. We got him The Black Heart and Essence of Gossamer, so he trades out some spellpower for survivability, but that's still about 5k healed per tick.

About that no Cooldown Tranquility.

Thinking about an average 10 man, with 3 healers.

One healer would main tank heal (ideally paladin to cover both tanks with Beacon of Light)

The other two healers, resto druids with this no Cooldown Tranquility. Put one druid in each party and chain tranquility. Now, mana shouldn't be a problem with all the clearcasting procs, and you can get out of the five second rule with the cast time, if you don't have too much haste ... but we want haste. Even with 0 spellpower and 0 haste, this should result in about 1.5k hps on each raid member.

Now, the plurality of our spellpower comes from our "weapon", and let's assume that you can get to either 1000sp or ,say, 25% haste.

1000sp - 3035 + 128.92%*1000 (wowwiki) = 4324 per tick = 2162 hps per target

25% haste - 3035 every 2/1.25 seconds = 3035 every 1.6 seconds = 1896.875 hps per target
(i think it would be doable with the 13% haste from talents)

Now ideally, i think we would want haste so the ticks come faster and faster, which is one of the reasons that lifebloom is so good, it ticks every second, making sure the tank recovers damage between boss swings.

Also of course, this type of healing would require a special spec, picking up improved tranquility at least, and probably getting the 3% haste from balance, since all we care about is chain casting tranquility.

Also, because of tranquility's cast time, we can throw up a wild growth in between tranqs, making this type of healing even better.

Also, as reaveald in Blizz Twitter chat 16, Tranq is being turned into a raidvide effect in cata, thus making it an insane ability on fites with burst dps evry few min, like bloodqueen and festergut. Having tranq thus on a 3min 12sec CD(Improved Tranquility) should make it formidable, especialy if used with many druids.

You should have spent less time playing WoW and more time going to school. Then again, given that I'm writing this in class that might not have been very effective.

i switched from feral to resto during S6 after playing resto all the way through bc and i can honestly say i've never used tranquiltiy for anything more than a joke. Ever. Its a useless mana sink. lrn2nourish and not overheal?

This spell can be elite if used right. In fact it is the best heal in some common situations.

First off its one of the few heals not effected by line of sight! Making this a last resort in intense situations where your party member(s) have got out of your view. Tranquility doesn't heal in a circle like its animation suggest. You are actually healing in a sphere with a 30 yd diameter.

Second, if you place the two talents into this ability no longer has threat. Druid healers are often the first target of incoming adds naturally. So if you are being targeted as a druid heal pop tranq if you have it talented. You can keep yourself and party members up while not generating additional threat. The worst thing you can do if your being attacked by adds is do more threat generating heals.

It heals the 5 people who have the lowest hp, and each tick of the spell on these people gives a stack. The target choice is dynamically updated for each tick of your tranquillity during channeling.

Note that as of patch 4.1.0, the heal-over-time portion of Tranquility does not give Symbiosis for HoTs cast on that target. However, Tranquility does benefit from Symbiosis. So casting Wild Growth before Tranquility can increase its throughput significantly. For bonus points, start with Tree of Life, giving you +15% healing, and up to 8 targets for WG, then Tranquility. In my iLevel 350 gear, where I've reforged for Haste, I still have 16% mastery bonus. So that gives 1.15*1.16=33% boost to Tranquility healing. Combine it with something like Theralions Mirror and you've got one heck of a boosted heal. (Though you'd probably be better off with an on-use spellpower trinket than a proc-based Mastery one.)

In the novel World of Warcraft: Stormrage, Broll Bearmantle tried to use Tranquility to hold back the Emerald Nightmare. It didn't work too well, but it did give us a little bit of lore of the spell. According to Malfurion:

"The secret of the tranquility spell is to call upon that most peaceful, most carring part of Azeroth's nature... of the Emerald Dream's nature..."

So the Druid summons the power of the Emerald Dream itself when channeling this.

In the upcoming patch 5.3, they're rebalancing Tranquility and other raid target spells like Divine Hymn and Revitalize so that in 25 man modes they'll target 12 people at a time instead of 5 each time they heal. This is a very nice change, obviously, and makes these spells' impact much more similar to the effect they have on 10 man groups when they get popped.

Just wanted to point out that this change did indeed take effect in 5.3.
'Tranquility now targets 12 raid members (up from 5) each time it heals when used in a 25-player instance. This change also applies to players using the Symbiosis version of Tranquility.'
