Great Spell espacially at higher levels when the invulnerable time is increased to 12 seconds. Because of this spell many paladins do what is called bubble hearthing. where when outnumbered Paladins will pop their Divine Shields and hearthstone escaping death.

With patch 2.0.1 the handicap on attack speed can be lifted with a Protection talent that reduces your time between attacks by 100%(basically the same as normal attack speed).

It appears that as of 3.0.2 this no longer suppresses threat for the duration. Can anyone verify this? Ive looked around at wowinsider/patch notes/maintankadin and havent found anything to verify.

as far as ive tested it appears you can use this for invinicible tanking now.

this is so bull!@#$ at PTR patch note 3.0.8 this skills no longer 100% immune but instead going to 50% damage reduce, think about how holy paladin will be disadvantage of this skill seriously. All healing class got Heal Over Time except Paladin also Shaman and Priest have fear resist buff ( fear ward and tremor totem). How you heal tank when you got fear in boss fight? Druid doesn't have fear resist buff but his Heal Over Time will help him a lot when he got fear. I wish Blizzard will considered what they doing, why they don't make like Crusader Strike makes Divine Shield to reduce 50% damage instead of 100% for the penalty since a lot of people complain with this because Retribution Paladin can go everywhere kill people with this skill.

The nerf that this ability is receiving in patch 3.0.8 is heartbreaking. /wave goodbye to bubble+hearth. /farewell to the legit soloing practice of bubble+bandage. You can't bandage if something is attacking you.

Besides, what is going to be the point of having redundant skills Divine Protection and Divine Shield? This is seriously cutting into a Paladin's soloing survivability.

EDIT: Nevermind, I think I may have jumped the gun a little bit. After re-reading (and re-re-reading) the change, it does appear that instead of removing complete immunity, it reduces your damage output. I think Blizzard should re-word this change a little more clearly.

Sounds like it will still stop 100% of incoming damage, just your hits will do 50% less damage. It shouldn't affect bubble-bandage or bubble-hearth.

Sounds like its still heartbreaking to me.

Blizzar should just remove the whole forbearance effect from the whole game :S

edit. since they'll put the limit to the spells that cause forbearance,that they cannot be used within 30 seconds of each other..

Damn even is paladin i was looking forward to the 50% dmg reduction. As tank the talent Divine Guardian would off become a lot more meaningful. But then I'd miss BubbleHS<3

This spell actually makes you immune from the Trespasser! buff which teleports you out of your opposing faction's quarters in Dalaran, thus enabling you to walk straight pass their guards.

While I don't know about Alliance, once inside, Horde players can stay anywhere in "A Heroe's Welcome" without being kicked out, even after the shield fades.

All this is also true for Hand of Protection. Bring your friends and family!

I giggle at the fact that only paladins can fluck other paladins during bubble with Hand of Reconing...a taunt ability to boot lol that only the holy damage can penatrate it :D it helps with all my paladin on paladin ganking and they jus cant seem to find out that they have to run like the other peeps now :D
butthis bubble is awesome with Hand of Sacrifice, when ever i bubble i jus auto hand of sacrifice my tank for a breather.

What the hell is it with everyone about the "Bubble + Hearthstone" combo? I have played the Paladins ince TBC came out, and I NEVER have bubble-hearthstoned out of PvP or otherwise, (except I DID one time in IF) nor have I ever seen a Alliance Paladin hearthstone away from me/someone else, true I don't play on a PvP Server, except I have as of late with friends, still haven't seen a Pally Bubblestone out.

this spell got a sever nerf, back when it halved your attack speed, it doubled the damage your weapons dealt (untallented), now because it halved damage output, it completely lowers the damage the paladin deals

Paladins get multiple bubbles... Why exactly?
It's called forebearance! The debuff that keeps us from using them within 2 minutes of each other. Please know a little something about the class you're discussing before you post stupid crap! The more powerful bubbles (i.e. full immunity DS) have alonger CD. This is nearly negated by sacred duty, which evens the CDs out so they are very close to forebearance. Forebearance is removed on death. If you can come up with a reason why this system is flawed, please come up with a new one and post it on the WoW suggestion forums. Don't go paladin is OP. We really need that stuff to close distance. How else are we supposed to even fight a kiter class? Against a mage we can't do anything really. One bubble to heal or close distance, after that our HoF gets stolen and we won't survive the next shattercombo. A skilled hunter can kite a paladin all day long AND has a pet. We CANNOT kill a resto druid.. It sounds like a L2P issue to me if you have a class that can do some kiting, since pallies are the laughing stock of all kiter classes. Yes we can destroy warriors and DKs in close combat, but really anything ranged can eat a ret pally up. Warriors and DKs both have far better options to close distance then pallies do, honestly.

IF you want to talk OP: take a look at the options a frost mage has to escape or snare/root; Feck they even steal our hand of freedom. Or hunters deterence/trap/disengage. We can't get back in melee against a hunter worth his salt. Or how about druids instant flight form: it's back to kiting after a cyclone. It's not OP actually, i don't think any class is OP since that would mean it's a killer against every other class which no class is. Not even frost mages!

really people, killing a retpally is not that hard if you know your class. Just survive the first burst and then laugh away as you kite us back to the stone age. Or see us coming and laugh while we struggle to get in melee range

I'm wondering will the Warlocks Felhunter spell Devour Magic will remove the Paladins
Divine Shield and i believe i have grounds to ask this question cuz i've noticed that the Divine Shield Buff says its magic and Devour Magic goes after buffs not the player it self so i would think that it would remove it

This is the most pointless argument I've ever heard. "Give paladins a berserkerable pet"? That's the best you can come up with? Ret burst is currently pretty high, holy paladins are impossible to kill and your class is so pathetically easy to play it gives a whole new meaning to facerolling.

Shattering throw really needs a shorter cooldown.
First of all high five for saying that in such close to perfect structure.

What annoys me most on the bubble (apart from general overpowerness of itself and paladins in general) is, that the slightly enlarged and gold rimmed buff icon suggests, that it COULD be Spellstolen - although in fact it cant. That would be mage's revenge :)

Pre-4.0, on the original divine shield comments page, I had a comment. It was a joke, a good one, since it was uprated to like 85 before 4.0 came out. Then the patch came, wowhead did its datamining, deleting that version and reverting to this one.

Now my joke doesn't even apply. It was a bubble hearthing one. I wanted to retell it, since the entire entry for that version of divine shield was deleted, including the comments. There's really no point though, since like I said, the joke applied to bubble hearthing...

Blizzard managed, somehow, to even nerf my joke. That sucks, man...

I've come to terms with the duration nerf on Divine Shield. However, I was under the impression that both Divine Shield and Hand of Protection couldn't be dispelled. I guess I thought wrong.

Here is a macro useful for canceling Divine Shield when you no longer desire it to be up and don't want to go chasing your buffs to click it off.

#showtooltip Divine Shield
/stopcasting
/cancelaura Divine Shield
/cast Divine Shield

Clicking it once will cast Divine Shield, while clicking it a second time will remove Divine Shield from you.

Edit: Added /stopcasting because an "oh !@#$" button is a bit useless if you die because you "can't do that while casting".

This spell description doesn't mention anything about Lay on Hands, but the Lay on Hands description mentions inability to cast Divine Shield on yourself after Lay on Hands.
Does that mean you can cast Divine Shield and then cast Lay on Hands on yourself; but you are unable to cast Lay on Hands and then Divine Shield in this order?

The same is for Hand of Protection.

How to drop a FC surrounded by his team.

Step 1. Divine shield, build up 3 holy power under it. Zealotry.
Step 2. Crusader Strike. 3 pt Inquisition. (Save your Art of War Exorcism procs)
Step 3. Repentance the healer -> he trinkets -> you HoJ.
Step 4. Divine shield fades. Free action potion. (Free Action Potion)
Step 5. Blow up FC with Avenging Wrath -> Hammer of Wrath. Exorcism. TV with Hand of Light procs.
Step 6. Profit?

* Forgot to mention the part where you get mass dispelled and globaled ;) But hey if you do this fast you can get some lolretburst moments, enjoy it because there are very few moments like that now. Think I'ma roll a fury war, I hear macroing a bunch of I win stuff to crit ppl is hard.

One a more serious note, can this be cast while stunned/feared/silenced? Or any other form of cc for that matter, I'm pretty sure a counterspell effect will prevent DS, not sure about the rest though.

A pretty useful macro to get quick healing after using Divine Shield:

#showtooltip
/cast Divine Shield
/cast Dense Embersilk Bandage

Please note that:
1. You should have First Aid @ 500 minimum to use this macro (very easy to do)
2. Bandage usage doesn't share Global Cooldown with Divine Shield so you getting heal straight after hitting the macro
3. This macro saves you lot of mana (more than 50 % of your total pool)
4. You don't need to press "healing" button multiple times as you do in case of casted heals

Hope this helps you fellow paladins!

Though this spell has been nerfed it doesnt mean it is not useful anymore
I think all paladins should have a cancelaura macro of this which shadowaninja said already.
It is extremely useful for dispelling debuffs or CC on you, even some debuffs that are not normally dispellable such as bleeds, and just to name a couple off the top of my head Malevolent Strikes from Halfus in BoT, and from Nalorakk in Zul Aman (which is nearly 90% of the damage he deals to you in bear form) or sigils that the Archons put on you before they you if your tanking. Debuffs/DoTs that stack to a undispellable point such as Flame Buffet from the dragonhawks in Zul Aman, Even in pvp it has more usages than just running in with it precasted to gain holy power, try using it to get out of any CC, dots, bleeds, poisons, colossus smash. Disregard the fact that it it is so easy to be dispelled off you and use it not as a emergency when your low health, but before to prevent yourself from getting that low health in the first place.

Basically, anytime where there's bad stuff on you that you want off, when your too lazy to run out of stuff your supposed to run out of, or when you just want to run into stuff that your not supposed to run into....

Just remember to taunt first if your tanking, because it will drop your aggro, taunt only works because of the little "forces the target to attack you for 3 seconds" after that, you better have cancelauraed it or the rogue right next to you is gonna be really angry

Ok guys, here is a tactic that I have found that works. I haven't tried it lately, but if you are leveling a Paladin you can get a http://www.wowhead.com/item=68809/veterans-hearthstone. It has around a 5 second cast time. You have to be level 80, exactly level 80 to get this. It's from the Warchief's command board in Dalaran. If you wait till 81, then it's too late.

Not sure if they have changed the cast time on it since 4.2, but the last time I checked it worked perfectly fine :D

It seems that our beloved Bubblehearth IS BACK! In Mists of pandaria a paladin glyph has been added! "Glyph of righteous retreat" ! This will allow you to invoke your hearthstone at 50% of the time while your divine shield is active!

Saved my butt MANY, MANY times. I just love my server: no Cata, so I can bubble the crap out of the Alliance. I love this spell since wc3, even if Arthas became evil. And don't cry about our bubble, paladin is pretty much screwed up with holy power, it just makes things even worse.
