its excellent in a tanking rotation as well because it spreads frost fever, reducing the amount of attacks you take.

Tanking Perspective Post - Very important in AOE Tanking

(short range pull a mob with) Icy Touch -> (Mob is on you - GCD) Plague Strike -> (He friends are there too) Pestilence (Spreads both Diseases)

At this point you have one frost one unholy one blood free -> Death and Decay -> mobs just ain't ain't moving unless you have a nasty dps with bad targeting. You may choose to DnD first but i have found that in most cases i don't need DnD at all, yet i use it anyway at lot of time. For this reason I cast it last because i want the full time and affect on the mobs. If you are always going to use DnD you may want to use it first to get those runes back faster.

I have been in some groups where i just MUST use DnD first because of the way the healer and dps are playing. The healer casts heal when i'm at 99.9999% health, the mage runs way off to the side and wants to Blizzard on a pull.

Here is a decent thread on rations. Note that I said thread not post as i think the debate that follows is very helpful too.

Edit: I don't do this so much anymore. As frost, howling blast glyphed (Frost Fever) is enough. Almost never use this spell, i did however need it once, when i started, that may have been gear, knowledge, i don't know. But i don't use it much anymore. Perhaps I was not frost when I wrote this.

Ebon Plague is automatically applied to a target with any of your diseases on it which for me is either Blood Plague (caused by Plague Strike) or Frost Fever (caused by Icy Touch). This means that if any of your diseases successfully hop to the next target (they can be resisted), the target will automatically get Ebon Plague as well if you are specced for it.

My Pestilence seems bugged currently.
I have Blood of the North and whenever i use Pestilence, BOTH bloodrunes convert into deathrunes.
Anyone having the same issue?

Seems this spreads diseases to stealthed enemy units too. I was dueling a rogue when I pulled a mob accidentally. Applied diseases to the mob and hit pestilence - It broke the stealth and rogue was infected with both diseases.

Current description of this spell is not accurate, because it also spreads Ebon Plague (link to sufficient talent, which causes this disease).
Also i noted that if another DK is fighting something and they infect target with their own diseases, your pestilence won't spread them. Only yours.

A staple ability for Unholy AoE-DPS. Your diseases, along with everyone's favorite exploding plague-spot and (since we're in the age of 3.3 now) the second T9 set-bonus plus the Frost Fever Glyph will do most of your job for you.

If you're not lvl60 and tanking: dots,pestilence,blood boil helps.

Pestilence is ur friend! Dont forget to go blood presence if u tank. :P

Maybe it's obvious to most but I had to do some testing to be sure.

If you apply frost fever and blood plague to target A, use pestilence to spread your diseases to target B, then when the duration of your diseases is almost over you cast pestilence on target B to spread your diseases back to target A, the new diseases on target A will still tick for half the damage of diseases applied using icy touch and plague strike.

Or in short, your diseases will never tick for less than 50% of their normal damage no matter how many times you spread them via pestilence.

Wtfhax Aoe.

Trust me. if your unholy. And fighting a VERY large group of enemies "one time i saw about 50 enemies that could aggro eachother." This is much loved. Its one of your most prominent AOEs as a death knight.

This spell spreads your diseases to all enemies within 10 yards relative to where you're standing, not your targeted and diseased enemy to whom is being spread.

Blood boil for unholy DKs seems to be bugged atm with 6.1 , casting it with a death frost doesnt transform the rune back into death but simply reverts it to frost.
