Edit for 4.2: This buff can now be obtained any time of day during Hallows End by either faction by interacting with the piles of ash their Burning Wickerman (Ruins of Lordaeron and outside Stormwind).

This buff grants 10% additional experience from quests and mobs as well as a 10% bonus to reputation earned for two hours.

You don't need to kill anything to get this buff. Just go to the Wickerman to the west of Undercity and right-click one of the small piles of embers around the flaming statue.

Most people do not see how useful this is at any level. Sure you get 10% experience and that's not useful to an 80. However, the 10% reputation is what caught my eye and has helped me quite a bit over the last 2 weeks. 10% may not seem like a lot but it adds up if you are a devoted grinder.

This Buff stacks with the Human 10% more Rep racial Ability AND The Spirit of Sharing

From a Quest where you recieve 250 Reputation, You'll get 20% more. (250 * 1.20 = 300)
But as a Human you would recieve 30% more from the buffs. (250 * 1.30 = 325)

As you see, humans gets almost 100 more rep from that quest. So if you want to level up an alt (and get extra reputation) you should get Invocation of the Wickerman and then log off til the Pilgrim event is on.

Here's a pretty big list of quests/chains you may consider doing this with (and corresponding base reputations): (it's by no means exhaustive, but I think it covers the big ones)

Huge rep gain quests/chains:
Ally of the Netherwing (+42000 Netherwing)
Mending Fences and A Spark of Hope (+28600 rep each to Sons of Hodir) - This may go down to 22000 rep each if Blizzard realizes their mistake
The Old Hillsbrad chain starting with Old Hillsbrad (+6010 Keepers of Time)
The Black Morass chain starting with The Black Morass (+8750 Keepers of Time)
The Karazhan attunement chain and following quests starting with Arcane Disturbances and Restless Activity (+5925 The Violet Eye)
The chain of quests for Karazhan starting with Medivh's Journal (+4345 The Violet Eye)
For Horde, All of the one-time Tranquillien quests (+50000 Tranquillien, if Wowhead's column of rep gained is correct here, and it probably isn't) - this allows you to hit exalted with fewer quests
The Vials of Eternity (+3000 The Scale of the Sands)
Allegiance to the Scryers and/or Allegiance to the Aldor (+3500 rep to the respective faction) - only completable at neutral (or unfriendly?) reputation
A few quests here might work out to be really huge, but this is totally untested, and I'm quite possibly wrong due to the mechanics of how these reputation switches occur:
Perhaps Just Following Orders from the the Oracle/Frenzyheart Intro chain.
The dailies for switching between Oracles/Frenzyheart: Hand of the Oracles / Just Following Orders (this could be a lot, especially if you switch from being Hated)

And since the rep grinds for battlegrounds are quite long:
The Battle for Arathi Basin! (Horde / Alliance) (+500 for the respective Arathi Basin faction)
Take Four Bases (Horde) / Control Four Bases (Alliance) (+1000 rep for the respective Arathi Basin faction) - only completable at Friendly or higher reputation
For Great Honor (Horde) / Concerted Efforts (Alliance) (the first time turn-in for these quests grants some rep, though I'm not sure how much since Wowhead doesn't list it) - these quests are not available beyond level 70

One other notable one-time quest:
A Binding Contract (+1000 Thorium Brotherhood)

There are obviously many more quests that you may consider using this reputation bonus for, and I encourage you to do so, but these are some of the more noticeable ones. Enjoy! =)

Alliance version: Unburdened

This is buff previously known as "Invocation of the Wickerman", increasing experience and reputation gained by 10% for 2 hours.

The experience bonus applies to mob kills and quest turn-ins and does stack with heirlooms, rested experience, and guild banners. It does not appear to stack with the Fast Track guild perk.

The reputation bonus does stack with guild perks Mr. Popularity/Mr. Popularity and the guild banners (Battle Standard of Coordination, Standard of Unity, or Banner of Cooperation.). Here are some ideas for using this buff effectively. If you've been putting off these rep grinds, now's a good time to do them.

Mists of Pandaria

Huojin Pandaren - Equipping a Huojin Tabard will grant you reputation for these new allies when you run most dungeons.
Nat Pagle - Increase the speed of this grind by turning in Spinefish Alpha, Mimic Octopus, and Flying Tiger Gourami together with the buff.

Cataclysm

Therazane - In Deepholm, start the Therazane quest chain with The Very Earth Beneath Our Feet (available only after you've done the two other pillar fragment quest chains).
Avengers of Hyjal - If you can manage to keep alive, this buff is very handy while earning reputation in the Firelands.

Wrath of the Lich King

Argent Crusade Commendation Badge, Ebon Blade Commendation Badge, Kirin Tor Commendation Badge, Sons of Hodir Commendation Badge, Wyrmrest Commendation Badge each cost only 16 Justice Points but provide 520 unmodified reputation now.
The Sons of Hodir - the lead-in quest chain (which starts with They Took Our Men!) grants 22000 reputation each for Mending Fences & A Spark of Hope.

Burning Crusade

Netherwing - the opening quest chain ends with Ally of the Netherwing which grants 42000 reputation all at once.

Classic

Thorium Brotherhood - This reputation is now extremely easy and quite cheap even if you want to buy your way to exalted. For questers, start with To the Aid of the Thorium Brotherhood and work all the way though the Searing Gorge. If you just want to buy your way or just want to finish reaching exalted, buy Fiery Core/Lava Core from your AH - they should be very low cost because of the high number of Molten Core runs these days. These now turn in to Lokhtos Darkbargainer in the Grim Guzzler within Blackrock Depths for 2000 (unmodifed) reputation.
Argent Dawn - Largely this faction has been removed, but it still very easy to reach exalted quickly. Follow the details on the faction page for completing Fiona's caravan and the repeatable quests that become available.
Ravenholdt - For those going for the Insane in the Membrane achievement, this is -the- time of year to turn in your Heavy Junkboxes for Junkboxes Needed.

Does not appear to stack with Fast Track, for the exp benefit.

Comparing to Past Their Prime, which gives 1550 exp.

With 2 pieces of heirloom gear on, that should be 40% exp bonus.

- Shoulders - 10%
- Chestpiece - 10%
- Fast Track - 10%
- Grim Visage - 10%

However, the quest gives 2015 exp, which is 30% increase, rather than 40%.
If I take off the heirloom gear, then it gives 1705 exp, which is a 10% increase, rather than 20%.

For 5.0.1 you have to burn the wickerman during the "A time to build" quest in order to see the ash that gives the exp/rep bonus. To have this all day, simply burn the wickerman, pick up the ash and abandon the quest. DO NOT turn it in until the end of the day if you want the very nice rep bonus for this.

Buffs all of the rep gains from MoP dailies, anything that speeds up Golden Lotus grind is a welcome addition, even if only 10%.

Against the common knowledge that seems to be floating around, the Grim Visage buff can be obtained at any time, regardless of having the daily quest or not. The misconception here that most find is when the player's opposing faction does their daily quest to douse the Wickerman, it no longer produces ashes. The Wickerman Ashes are what gives you this buff, not the daily itself.

In order for the Wickerman to produce more Wickerman Ashes, the daily quest A Time to Build Up must be done. Or wait until Darkcaller Yanka reignites the Wickerman.

The Grim Visage 10% experience and reputation buff lasts only 2 hours, so watch the timer while you're doing your rep grinds.

Not only does the XP bonus from this buff not stack with the "Fast Track" guild bonus, it also doesn't seem to apply to the XP earned from turning in any of the the Hallow's End quests. I tried it out on an alt who wasn't in a guild.

EDIT: Note Effect #1 listed above: "Apply Aura: Mod Experience Gained % (mob kills only)". This buff doesn't increase XP gains from ANY quest turn-ins.
