In terms of 1v1 dueling, it is also one of the most essential skills that a Rogue may have.

With it, a Rogue will always have a chance against every class in every spec. Whilst some may say it is overpowered, only by effective timing of it's usage may a Rogue use it to it's full potential.

A fun skill for any PvP Rogue.

Still an amazing ability, despite the minor nerf. Best to be thought of as a "super emergency vanish" in my experience. This is because if you have reduced cooldown on vanish you probably won't need to re-use it all that often except for in rare circumstances when you can pop this baby.

Another addition is that in Duels you can restealth without the use of vanish. Imp Gouge, blind and even just getting stunned (Hammer of wrath, repentance) while the opponent heals, can all remove combat from you. At which point you get the ability to restealth, as it's a non-combat ability. Therefore, you can completely destroy the opposition by restealthing to either deal burst damage (Ambush) crippling dot's (Garrote (after level 61 so it silences)) or to gen combo points (Cheap shot).

Therefore, reserve this baby for when you need it. When you've got the flag in WSG or Eye of the storm is an example so you can vanish-grab the flag to escape a snare, or when you have some serious agro on you and vanish is on CD or you just need an extra long evasion to do that final, decisive blow.

As of 2.3.2, Prep has been nerfed to death, making it a waste of a skill point in PvE. Still very useful in Arena though.

Means this no longer finishes cooldown on Blind and Adrenaline Rush.

And ye, as mentioned in World of Roguecraft, you could beat anyone with a bunch of avoidance/crowd control this used to provide.

This skill saved my ass a lot of times.
An angry level 70 is coming to kill you? Vanish is on cooldown?
Preparation > Vanish > Escape > Profit

Cooldown is being lowered to 8 minutes, due to the fact all abilities that have 10 minutes and higher cooldowns will no longer work in arena as of patch 3.3.

This has been datamined to be a baseline rogue ability learned at lvl 60 for the 5.2 patch.

Since Dismantle is being removed as of 6.0, wouldn't it be nice if Blizz replaced it with another ability so Preparation doesn't lose and "punch".
Perhaps Shadow Walk would be a good option.

How about each of the abilities Preparation resets gets to be used twice before going on their individual cooldowns, instead of all being reset at the same time. All in favor say aye!
