This talent is somewhat addictive; a 4 second cooldown on Stealth is very easy to get used to, and hard to let go of. Very useful in PvP situations where you'll often be clacking your teeth while glaring at the remaining cooldown - especially if the enemy is heading towards you at the same time. Also good in PvE situations to avoid getting caught by patrols.

Does Quickening's speed buff negate Nightstalkers'? They obviously don't stack, but if I max Quickening, will that give me a 15% increase in unstealth AND stealth speed?

I know the names changed but before Cata the name of the talents were Fleet Footed and Camouflage; unless blizzard made nerf here Nightstalker and Quickening should still stack.

What it doesn't say is that Stealth in 4.1 will have no speed penalty (i.e. running speed = stealth speed), and will have a 4 second cooldown.

So…… no cooldown and u run faster stealthed than running……

So what? Rogues now get stealth that doesn't cause any sort of movement issues? And on top of that a 10% movement bonus? Talk about ninjas! Let's see how long this one lasts...
One more thing, did I mention that it's tier 1 sub. So it's available to all rogues.

At the moment, with talents, it's 96% speed in stealth. If you want the formula:
70(Base) x 1.15(Move affects multiply) + 15(Nightstalker adds a flat value while in stealth), which = 95.5%.(Quick+Night STACK. Quickening won't stack with any other normal move speed buff, ie move enchant, but Nightstalker has its own special slot.) So with both talents you currently run at 96% in stealth, almost normal.

After the patch, the penalty for using stealth is being removed, and Nightstalker is being nerfed to 10%. This changes the formula to:
100(Base) x 1.15(Quick) + 10(Night), which= 125%. You'll be at 125% while stealthed, while running without stealthed will still be at 115%.
125% move speed while stealthed, faster than NORMAL RUN SPEED? LOL. I'm lvling my Rogue right now. It's going to be awesome.

So this is 96% pre change(Almost normal), and 125% after.(FASTER than normal) Keep in mind that normal run speed, for most people, is 108%. (100 x 1.08)

With 2/2 in this talent and 2/2 Quickening, my rogue moves at 115% unstealthed and 126% stealthed. After stealthing, you cannont unstealth immediately (aside from using abilities) and restealth as Stealth has a 2 second CD.

Actually this talent stacks multiplicatively, not additively so take your movement speed with buffs and multiply it by 1.1, if you are a worgen take that final new movement speed and multiply it by 1.1 with a swiftness pot you move faster during worgen sprint than any movement speed buff available(Aside from engineer's boots).

EDIT: strike that worgen sprint is the top most multiplicative speed enchance and will trump nightstalking while active but you will still move at 210-220%

So a holy paladin using aura mastery is sill the fastest class, but rogue evens with the other fastest(while stealthed!)

EDIT: For some reason, this post is showing Fleet Footed when using the MoP domain but is showing the correct spell, "Quickening", in Wowhead's default domain: http://www.wowhead.com/spell=31209. Sorry for the confusion ^-^

Though slightly weak for both PvE & PvP, Nightstalker shines during soloing in combination with Burst of Speed. Explanation given on the BoS page.

Any DoTs still on the target before Vanish, are they increased when you turn stealth? I can't really tell.

Ok guys a little update on this talent for 5.4 and some clarification.

Firstly the speed increase stacks with night elf racial, Fleet Footed and even the shoe enchant.
Note: Once you gain Fleet Footed this overwrites any shoe enchant speed increase so you can't stack all 3 together.

The damage increase portion of the talent is straight forward. Despite what most info says from old patches and other sites this does actually work with all damage from stealth that I have tested. Ambush, Garrote, Rupture, Fan of Knives, Crimson Tempest, Throw, Evicerate/Envenom and your specs combo builder.

This is great use for single target and AoE situations and the speed is a nice utilty. For single target just use your normal priority attacks, but a tip for AoE is FoK from stealth build up to 5 combo points vanish then crimson tempest from stealth and carry on doing what you do :)
