Aha so this means that if you have a 1.000.000 health monster. And you have around 200.000 hp you can you instantly kill it when it's below 20% health. This sounds a bit overpowered but 200.000 crit's may be normal in Mists of Pandaria. For a Monk tank that stacks stamina it means more damage. I am not quite sure about this but it does look awesome. Of course Bosses will have a lot more health than 1.000.000 and i don't know how much health end game Monks will have. But this isn't a QQ button since it is only available on NON-PLAYERS. This may help a lot with the last 1 or 2% of a real boss fight. And it doesnt make Execute lose it's potential. Basically the more health a boss has, the longer it takes before you can use this skill. I like it.

This sounds Overpowered, but it isn't ...
In raid situations, stuff that gets down to your health pool is killed the next second by everyone.

Extra monster one shot while farming something every 1.5 minutes is nice, but not overpowered like it sounds...
How long it takes for you to kill your level mob with same hp as you? 5-10 seconds...

I wonder how this will work with stuff that is immune/has reduced dmg taken by 99%/shouldn't die when hitting 1 health.

For solo leveling this is a nice addition :) Other that that I don't see any useful/overpowered ways of using this...

At the moment it requires 0 energy and 4 chi, making it mostly useless for leveling.

Ecit: also, it looks at your current health, not maximum.

Even with the 1.5 min CD it is still a very powerful ability. From what i have seen, it takes into account every HP buff in the game, gaining a 100% damage increase with Fortifying Brew.
Overall this ability will not be OP in MoP. In raids it won't even matter, mostly due to the fact that, even now raid groups are doing that amount of damage in a second.
In my opinion this is a "flavor" ability, just to give players a huge number on the screen, as stacking stamina as dps just to get huge hits will be counterproductive.
A way to make this a very good ability in end-game raiding would be to make a glyph that changes the ability to do half your HP as damage to the enemy and make it usable regardless of the target HP.

Has anyone in the beta tested this against an elite-type enemy or against a boss-level enemy?
If so, what is the effectiveness against them? If not, try doing so.
I have a feeling that the move might not be effective against bosses and/or might not be (as) effective against elites and/or bosses - that is, in the form of some sort of modifier (a different HP-to-HP comparison, such as 1:2 or 2:3 or something of the like) or innate resistance (does not work at all). There is the Touch of Death/Expel Harm Notification Driver, which will most likely notify the Monk when/if Touch of Death is usable against the enemy.
I'd like to see testing results, personally, before believing that it will work against raid bosses or the like.

Love the idea of the ability, but the name could use an update. Propose: "Forbidden Strike." "Kiss of the Dragon."

"Touch of Death" makes me cringe a little.

It seems like, judging from the wording, using this on a player's "Pet" (Hunters, DK's, Mages, Locks, ect.) would work. This seems like it could be pretty powerful in pvp, being able to insta-gib them.

This can be used on Warlock demons. If the Warlock has Soul Link on, then they'll get hit too.

So the ability to cast on pets will probably be taken away.

It is not unusual to have more hp than your run-of-the-mill mob while leveling. Does this basically mean that you can one-shot a normal enemy any time this ability is available? That does sound a little overpowered to me. Don't know how big of a hindrance the 3 chi cost is

This seems not that really crazy for leveling as everyone may know
a rogue can 2 shot a mob also if he has the cooldowns( premeditation + shadowstep) ambush + evisirate
and also they need 3 chi not sure if its kinda like 3 holy power or 5 combo points but you wont be able to do this that many times not sure how this will work out in pvp as for a rogue if your on 10 % hp you still have a huge chance of winning the current fight

Well, it will make it easy for monk characters to catch up with old raids, just dps until you reach the required amount of hp and then just instant kill the boss. Rinse and repeat.

If the spell works on bosses at all that is.

When your enemy can be target of Touch of Death you automatically get the buff Death Note, which can be a reference to the Worldwide known Manga and Anime of the same name '' Death Note''

Found out last night that Touch of Death bypasses C'Thun's 99% damage reduction shield.

Saved me around 20-30 minutes on the solo.

EnemyWarrior <10% hp, but >hp then you
EnemyWarrior cast Intervene on EnemyPlayer1
You cast Touch of Death on EnemyPlayer1
EnemyWarrior dies.

Although one small warning I've discovered at least twice in the Brawler's Guild:

Touch of Death CAN MISS. So be prepared on the off chance that it does. It's RARE, but it can happen.

As well as your Action Bar having the traditional bright yellow rotating border AND the colour of the calligraphy in the icon becoming an illuminated red, you will also receive a complimentary icon in the top right of the screen. It is this "buff" that AddOn authors will need to look for: Death Note

The cooldown is 90s (1m30s) without the glyph and 210s (3m30s) with the glyph. The tooltip says 1.5min which i find missleading. I would prefer 1m30s

Just thought I'd give a little background on the actual "Touch of Death".

According to Wikipedia:The Touch of Death (or Death-Point Striking) refers to any martial arts technique reputed to kill using seemingly less than lethal force targeted at specific areas of the body.

The concept known as Dim Mak traces its history to traditional Chinese medicine acupuncture. Tales of its use are often found in the Wuxia genre of Chinese martial arts fiction. Dim Mak is depicted as a secret body of knowledge with techniques that attack pressure points and meridians, said to incapacitate or sometimes cause immediate or even delayed death to an opponent. There is little scientific or historical evidence for the existence of a martial arts "touch of death", although mild trauma may cause disproportionately catastrophic consequences when applied to known pressure points under specific circumstances.

Popular references to this mythical technique can be seen in movies such as Kiss of the Dragon; in which Jet Li kills someone by simply sticking a needle into the back of the bad guy's neck, and more humorously in The Men Who Stare at Goats, in which George Clooney states that one man who got struck by the touch dying "about eighteen years later".

Well the tooltip talks about a "tough target" for one of the criteria and a regular mob for the other criteria. So how do we know if we aren't that good at identifying a boss? Thankfully Blizzard have saved the raid! We get a Death Note buff on ourselves. Please Blizzard, just press the button for us. Pretty please!
