Now this is an odd one, I imagine this is to help counter the likes of Warlocks. Not sure why though, I can easily beat most of them as ret on live. But perhaps it's because a lot changes in MoP for both classes. (Not in beta...yet)

This ability is very useful for the tanks on the first two bosses of Mogu'shan Vaults, as it reduces damage taken from Rend Flesh on Stone Guard and the various DoTs (Lightning Lash, Flaming Spear, Arcane Shock) on Feng.

5.2 patch notes state:

Hand of Purity now reduces all incoming damage by 10% in addition to its other effects.

That makes it a ton better, and really competes to the other talents in the same bracket on non-DoT fights now.

Also a good cooldown for Megeara when players get the cinders debuff. Can also be used to clear up ice.

Just to point out that, during talent respec, Hand of Purity's tooltip will display a 6 second cooldown - this is incorrect, as HoPurity always has a 30 second cooldown.

Hand of Purity now (5.4) reduces DoTs by 80%, and reduces unpreventable DoTs by 40%.

I've long been a fan of this spell, and I'm glad to see it buffed. When your tank swap goes wrong and the bear druid is on fire, Hand of Purity is there. When the Brewmaster main tank in LFR doesn't know where the Purifying Brew button is, Hand of Purity is there. When you just need that extra oomph to cheat through Hazzikostas's latest monstrosity, Hand of Purity is there.

Maybe someday this spell will be baseline for Holy Paladins at 90-100%. Until that day, I'm satisfied with eighty.

I highly overlooked ability on my part. This will be great for the butcher fight as well as Kargath for impales, and the cleaver. As a tank i see no reason to get the other two in this tier. Perhaps clemency for some fights but i'd say Hand of purity finds its use in 75% of boss fights
