Description

While my brothers and sisters of the other elements have demanded that you perform various tasks, I will not ask anything further of you. I think that you have done enough to 'atone' for the accident of your ship falling to this place from my skies. I can see that you have all the wisdom within you already to use the element of air wisely.

Take this portion of my being back to Farseer Nobundo so that he might help you fashion your totem. And when you're ready, I will fly you back down to the Exodar.

Swift Wind is a one-time buff given to you when you hand in the quest.

Swift wind buff increases movement speed by 40% and attack speed by 30% for one hour. You get the buff when you turn in the quest. This is not a shaman spell that you can cast.

Nice buff, I also started Jame's Alliance Levelling Guide at 30. For those that don't know, he wants you to basically grind in thousand needles from 30-31, so try to make good use of this buff while grinding.

Also easy questline, I was happy it wasn't some 2 hour adventure like other totem quests.

Monkeyspeed says 96% with Swift Wind in Ghost Wolf form.
In normal form it's also 96%. Thus Ghost Wolf is still same, doesnt stack up.

Because shaman has already 40% speed in Ghostwolf, the buff is only good for normal form ... and attack speed, but you have also more speed in Enchantement talents. There is 30% possible in Flurry.

Not real pain to miss the buff. :)

Get an Air Totem is this time very easy. For Fire and Water, you must fight heavy. But Air is just walking ... and free 3K exp... whoa.

Consider this before you turn in this quest

I realize that you have just hit level 40, are excited about your new skills, and that you're eager to go and level up. If this shaman is your first and main character, than you may disregard this. However if this shaman of yours is an ALT and you have some time and money to spare, than please consider what I am about to advise you to.

#1. I advise you to go respec to Enhance (with shamanistic focus and flurry as a must) just for this period of time. I know elemental is a pewpew spec, however, when you get this buff upon turning in this quest, it will have a limited duration of 1hr. Meaning during this time you must kill as much mobs, with the least downtime possible. If you are elemental you will spend more time drinking then enhance, also you will have casting time interruption (in one way or another, at one point or another). Also, while you are chain pulling non-stop, if you pull a little too much and need to heal yourself, and you run out of mana, you could die, and lose your buff. Also, there is not much great +spell dmg leather gear at this level, but quite alot of leather pieces that include stam, str, and agil. You could use cloth, but you would take more dmg, meaning you heal yourself more, use more mana, drink more, and have more downtime.

#2. Twink your shaman. Some people dislike twinking, or you may think it's a waste of time twinking when you're not in the 39s, 49s, ect. I'm not telling you to twink from head to toe, but try to get the best pieces that you can, and try to get a decent weapon. Something that hits like a truck. Your goal is to kill as many mobs possible in an hour. And twinking can help that.

#3. Put your shaman in a inn or a big city and go play something else. Forget about your shaman long enough that it will have 2 levels worth of rested state. Your goal is to kill as many mobs possible, but all of that boils down to getting the most xp in an hour.

#4. During this time, prepare consumables. Stack up on Health pots, mana pots, bandages, food buffs, ect.

#1. Do not do this during the day. You do NOT want to be ganked, and you do not want the place to be crowded with other people questing to steal your mobs. So do it when all the people are tired of questing and run off to bed.

#2. Make sure you know where to go, and what mobs you're going to kill. Make sure the mobs don't STUN, or do some sort of kicking action, or knock back. Find an ordinary group of mobs. Also, mobs that are 1-2 levels lower than you are still yellow, give good xp, and will be killed faster compared to same level or 1-2 level higher mobs. The idea is mass fast slaughter, so pick something that you can chain pull without much difficulty. I grinded on Worgen in the woods in Darkshire (Just make sure you don't stop in between to get the next quest, it's wasting precious time.)

#3. Don't forget to set your hearth, so that once you get your quest, you don't waste time getting to that spot. Don't forget you have ancestral recall as well.

#4. Don't forget to use WINDFURY Weapon. Grind, don't over chainpull. When you're at 60% ish, bandage. Don't forget you have Gift of Naaru, use it whenever the cooldown is up. Don't forget you have totemic call. Don't put down all totems, just the mana totem. If you're pulling more than 1, Set down stoneclaw, then magma, and whack one down asap. Earthshock is good, and try to use it when you have the focus buff. Don't bother using lightning shield. Consume mana, and melee down as much and as fast as you can. DO NOT DIE. Use pots. Use gift of naruu, use heal.

#5. Use Lesser Healing wave rank 2. If it crits it will heal as much as rank 5, and if you're just topping yourself off, it's faster, and uses less mana. Also when you have more mobs than intended, faster healing cast time is a plus.

I had a few blues and greens on my shaman, and was using Manual Crowd Pummeler from Gnomer on my shaman. I wasn't fully twinked but it was enough to do the job. (210 AP, 13.28% crit). I was fully rested, and got 1 level and 7bars of xp in an hour. I'm sure you will be able to do better.

Some people might think this isn't worth it, but it was fun, fast, and the best grind you'll ever do alone.

i belive that in some game expansion, shammys will be able to cast a buff similiar to swift wind..

I think it bugged, in that the buff to fly me down moves ad walking speed, and then ended in mid-air.

As I got ready to plummet to my doom, I started swimming down, through the air.

I for one am glad that there's no epic quest to go on. After the first 3, I am pretty tired of killing green-to-me mobs for a macguffin just so I can cast a class buff. There's only three ways it could go: "go to this other zone half way across the world and kill them until you get X macguffins, then come back here", "go to these instances for boss drops and come back when you have them all", or "go kill grey mobs in azuremyst/bloodmyst for some reason and come back". None of these is very fun or interesting.

This quest was removed in patch 4.0.1 along with a large amount of other class-specific quests.
