Where is the Gelvas dude. I went there and couldn't find him. Also, why does the quest say to hurry, but when you get there, the carnies say the faire will open soon?

When it is in Mulgore - coords are 35.34, just near Thunder Bluff.

Alliance can get the quest to visit the Mulgore Faire. The tricky part is getting into Orgrimmar to find Kruban Darkblade. I strongly suggest turning off scrolling quest text. Several times I was killed by guards before I was able to click "accept."

Thottbot verifies it is a level 60 quest.

Thats really a lot of trouble to get five vouchers. I would suggest just waiting for the faire to arrive in elwynn if your an ally.

You get the vouchers before the faire actually starts. This is really annoying if you have QuestHelper, which marks up your map before you can use the vouchers, and misleads you into thinking the quest is good too soon.

We often have horde visit the faire in Goldshire on Lightbringer. They are usually peaceful and enjoy the faire more on Alliance side since it seems none of the horde want to visit the faire. Occasionally, someone visits to stir up trouble and are quickly put down but most players on both sides frown upon pvp'ing in what's supposed to be a carnival atmosphere. As an Alliance player I quite often come to Thunderbluff because the horde hardly play.

The main thing to avoid is trying the human cannonball. It's very risky to get to the cannon in the first place and the landing zone is much narrower than the alliance lake. If you miss the target in Stonebull Lake you either lose major health or just flat out die. It's very shallow as well. Landings almost have to be perfect. Also, there's the long trek back from there to Thunder Bluff.

In short, only do the TB cannonball as an alliance IF you can survive a trip up the lift, to the cannon, a landing in a shallow pond and don't mind travelling so far back to go again.

I have heard, however, that the Horde can't visit the faire when it is in Elwynn Forest; it seems that it is too close to Goldshire and they get attacked by the guards -- can anybody confirm this?

It's pretty much false. The problems with guards may arise from chasing the little boy for the frog because he does run a pattern down the middle of the street where the npcs will attack. Leave the frogs for Thunder Bluff and it should be safe enough. O, one more npc that might attack, there is a guard kneeling behind a tree that the horde may not know about. You'll pass him on the trip back from the human cannonball. It's easy to avoid him and it's not necessary to engage in battle with him. Just run in circles till he gets tired of chasing you. He's part of an alliance quest so he's permanently fixed there. Not much to do but beware of his location.

Basically stay on the faire side of the fence and away from the wagons on the side of the road. Horde should have no problems enjoying the faire in Goldshire... unless they come for battle. >:-(

Typo on the quest objective. It says 'Gelvas Grimgate' when it's really meant to be Gelvas Grimegate.

Hmm..
According to wowhead, the Alliance version of this quest rewards more XP (650 for the Alliance, and 250 for the Horde)!
It's a conspiracy!

Is it possible to take this and the Alliance version at the same time? I noticed that the Free Ticket Voucher is the same for both quests and Unique, so I would assume not.

If not is there a level of Reputation where this becomes unavailable? Or is it still available if you've done the turn-ins the maximum number of times?

I couldn't find this NPC, but there I got the quest from a Darkmoon Faire Mystic Mage, a bloodelf NPC on the upper section in the middle of Orgrimmar near the flight master.
She gave me the quest, and could also teleport me to the area.

It looks like this quest was not reset for patch 4.3, so if you did it already you'll be out 5 tickets. This also means you must manually get the Guide from either the faction-locked mob in the area outside the portal or Selina Dourman at the entrance of the Faire across from the token vendor.

Word of caution for Death Knights: Make sure Path of Frost is OFF before launching yourself, otherwise, you land really hard and possibly fatally!

yet another incredibly confusing quest that offers peanuts. What is the Faire, where, SPECIFICALLY is it? How SPECIFICALLY, does one find it? No one seems to know, no one seems willing to explain the convoluted cryptic nonsense this quest assumes players have. What a waste of time.

As a summary :
1. you have to be level 6 or higher and not yet done this quest.
2. you get this quest from the Darkmoon Faire Mystic Mage in the major cities (see below for the Horde cities).
3. the Darkmoon Faire Mystic Mage can transport you to the staging ground for DMF (for a price dependent on level).
4. if you have already been to DMF and picked up a DMF Adventurer's Guide, you must destroy the guide in your bags or bank to hand in this quest.
5. the DMF staging area for Horde is in Mulgore, near the Thunder Bluff main lift. For Alliance, at Goldshire in Elwyn Forrest, southeast of Stormwind.
6. after handing in this quest, you can immediately purchase a Darkmoon Storage box (for one ticket) from the NPC you handed the quest into. this gives you a 16 slot bag.

Didn't find him but to get the guide gest speak to any darkmoon faire mage he will give the book.
