If you're having trouble with this quest, fly to Karazhan and then go up- there is currently an invisible wall on the southern side of Dalaran.

where start this quest for horde ? after i did the broken Shore Event i just get a quest where i should go to dalaran and help moving dalran to the broken shore....

Alright, so trying to play this, now that it's on Live.... I finished the Broken Shore quest, and then did the Invasion quest. Then nothing..

Weren't we supposed to get the Dalaran quest right after?

Are they gating it?

I went on to Dalaran over Karazan just in case, no Khadgar there, just a messed up Dalaran.

Also I noticed there was an abandoned Kirin Tor Camp in Deadwind, I don't remember that from before.. Is it new, was there people in it before Dalaran moved?

Is there a quest that comes before this one? This seems to be the only part of the new quest lines I'm unable to find/complete. I have done the starting experience and the broken shores scenario but I cannot find a way to start this for the life of me.

For Horde:

1. Don't go to Karazhan. You won't find anything there. You will be teleported by Khadgar later.
2. Go to The Drag (where Ragefire Chasm dungeon entrance is) in Orgrimmar. There is a portal to Dalaran at 45.43-62.53 there. Use it to go to Dalaran.
3. Go to Violet Citadel. Don't enter though. Archmage Khadgar is beside the entrance of the building. Talk to him.
4. Khadgar will bring you to the Violet Citadel. Then just follow the instructions from there to finish the quest.

If you are alliance the portal is in Stormwind keep, don't go to Deadwind Pass/Karazhan.

I was doing thunder isle questline just for fun on my demon hunter and when I finished the main scenarios I had Khadgars servant with this quest in Dawnseeker Promontory. Not sure if the servant spawns beside you at random times or what.

FOR ALLIANCE:

You go to Stormwind and go to Stormwind Keep.
It is in the first room on the left. You will see 2 Kirin Tor Summoners holding up a portal.

Enter.

You will be ported to Dalaran. That is when you go to the Violet Citadel. You don't go INSIDE. He is standing on the outside to the right of the Violet Citadel entrance.

(This quest is actually called Calling of the Council)

On an alliance toon today flying from the invasion in Azshara toward the one in the Northern Barrens I flew right over Ogrimmar and as soon as I was over the city a npc popped up in my face with a quest. He seemed to have hard time deciding between flying up by me or dropping down to the city.

I had to fly down to be able to accept the quest.

Full Walkthrough

1. Do not go to Karazhan or Deadwind Pass. Go to Stormwind Keep, like the quest says. When you enter the main entrance and go up the ramp to the main throne room, there is a room on the left. Go in there, and take the portal to Dalaran.
2. In Dalaran, go to the Violet Tower. Khadgar is standing outside and to the right. Speak to him. He will walk in and speak to Kirin's Tor's Council of the Six.
3. Speak to him a second time to start the debate about whether to seek Horde help in the fight.
4. Watch the events unfold. Once the quest ends, you can turn it into Khadgar.
5. Wait a second or two, and Brann Bronzebeard will run in with the quest to go to Ulduar , and meet with the reawakened Magni Bronzebeard.

I'm not quite sure what quest this is yet, maybe it's not part of the progression during the pre-patch. I got Calling of the Council, which in live is called "Calling of *the* Council," and has an objective to "Meet Khadgar in Dalaran at its new location above Deadwind Pass." That was offered at some seemingly random point after "Protect the Home Front" (Protect the Home Front, Defeat a Legion Invasion), which isn't in the database yet. THAT came after Illidari Allies.

I don't see where this was mentioned but thought it would be worth noting that I tried to use my Inscribed Signet of the Kirin Tor today to get to the new Dalaran location and it sent me to the old location. No Khadgar to turn the quest into. So you will need to use the portal in the city.

I abandoned this quest, then realized that I didn't know how to pick it up again. After completely exiting (logging out didn't work), Khadgar's Upgraded Servant reappeared to offer the quest again. Also, a few hours had passed. I don't know if that was relevant or not. Hopefully this will work for anyone else who somehow looses the quest.

Please note, that you HAVE to have done the Broken Shore Scenario on the toon you are wanting to do this quest on, otherwise Khadgar's servant will not pop up, no matter where in the world you are. Tried logging in and out on one of my toons who i have kept the handy 4 second cast time Org port and nothing popped up. Logged over to my "main" and there he was, just standing there looking smug.

If you have issues with Khadgar Dissappearing/Being invisible or the Quest not completing make sure you are not in a raid as it prevents progress.

One simple detail that, perhaps, can avoid you some frustration.

My DH got the quest from Khadgar servant as soon as I returned to SW after completing the Invasions and receiving the achievement; I flew to the Palace, found the portal (as you enter in the room to the left), teleported to Dalaran and ... no Khadgar anywhere I could find.

The spot was in my mini-map, but no Khadgar!

Read this thread and got the info that he was outside to the right of the entrance, but to the right of the entrance ... there was no Khadgar ... I reloaded, teleported back to SW and used the portal to Dalaran again ... no Khadgar!

Frustrated I flew to the high of the tower, landed in the highest balcony, entered the room and ... no Khadgar!

Mounted my dragon and slowly flew down doing a spiral and ... finally I found Khadgar!

He is to the right of the entrance alright, BUT not at ground level; he is in the first balcony at the entrance level of the Violet Citadel (after climbing the stairs).

Kindly refrain from laughing too much :D

You CAN go to Khadgar by flying there without taking the portal. Personally didn't even bother looking. Portal to Stormwind, since spawn at mage tower take portal to Blasted Lands, fly over to Dalaran. Simple. Why? Cause I like flying. And cause I can.

#Edit Actual reason i flew there. Upon accepting the quest the following is narrated as well as posted in the chat log: Dalaran has been repositioned to defend the easternd kingdoms. You'll find it over Deadwind Pass, just above Karazhan. Please join me there. # So i didn't even read the logs just straight up went to Dalaran.

0/1 Take the Portal to Dalaran over Karazhan in Stormwind Keep (this is optional but it doesn't say so)

So many posts about how to "not fly to Deadwind Pass/Karazhan"
You people... Just, what. You spent time failing to find him and still didn't actually read the damn quest lines? Or have you tried to complete the quest by flying and failed? If it's the first case, there's a huge ass freaking mountain above Karazhan floating in the sky. If it's the second case, I call bull@#$% cause I did it that way on 2 toons so far without taking the portal.
Stop misinforming people, please. Check yourself before you wreck yourself.

How to:
1.Spot the mountain hanging peak-down above Karazhan, provided you didn't get the keep portal. Fly up there, BOOM.! It's the new Dalaran.
2.Go to the Violet Citadel -exactly where the mark on your map correctly indicates- BOOM.! You found Khadgar. If you can't find him, type /tar archmage Kha
3.Talk to Khadgar, now do what he says.

Goodday to all of you

This is a chain-quest and starts in Stormwind (Alliance). If you're in Dalaran (I was with one of mine toons already in Dalaran:), you've to take the portal (Alliance) @Stormkeep to go to Dalaran. So don't go to DeadwindPass:)

The next quest is on the first balcony @ the right in Dalaran (Violet Keep), from there just follow the ArgeMage and the questline continues.

If you are like me i was not able to get this quest right off. But i was in my garrsion and saw khadgars pet had a quest for me and this was it.

If you can't find it look there!

Is this quest still accessible after Legion went live? Khadgar's Upgraded Servant is offering my alt "In the Blink of an Eye", the last step of the questline where you witness Dalaran teleporting. I'd like to actually do this quest instead if possible.

In Legion after finishing the quest Keep Your Friends Close (Horde) or Illidari Allies (Alliance) the Khadgar's Upgraded Servant no longer appears with this quest.

However, you can still get this quest and finish this quest chain, you will need to do the following:

1)Complete "Keep your friends close"(Horde) or "Illidari Allies"(Alliance)
2)Complete the quest Legion's Quest "In the blink of the Eye"
3)Find NPC "Archivist Elysiana", she is in The Violet Citadel
4)She will offer "I want to experience the return of Magni Bronzebear and Khadgar's adventures in Karazan". Upon clicking on it, you will get "The Calling of the Council" quest.

Calling of the Council has been cut from the questline in the live game. You can, however, still go through the questline if you wish. In the Violet Citadel in Dalaran speak to Archivist Elysiana, who is to the left of the entrance. She does not have any quest indicator over her head, the option to start the quest is a dialogue option. Be careful, as when you finish the first part of the quest and turn the book into Archmage Modera, Dalaran will disappear. Don't move, just use your hearthstone. If you move, you'll fall a loooong way to your death. You will have to speak to Archivist Elysiana once again for the next part of the quest.

I got this quest to prompt by talking to Archivist Elysiana, after which, Khadgar popped up with this quest. Not sure if that's helpful for anyone, but it might come in handy later if someone is trying to get it.

I accidently skipped past this quest and couldn't go back. I eventually discovered that there are two Dalaran portals in the cleft of shadow. One takes you to the initial legion dalaran. Silly but customer support didn't know either.

If you don't get a portal, just use other means of transport to the Deadwind Pass and talk to Kadgar in Dalaran hovering above Karazan.

I'm trying to do this quest to get the Orgimmar Hearthstone on my 120 character and Archmage Khadgar won't talk to me. Also the Dalaran Portal in the Cleft is gone. Does anyone know how to do this?

Speak with Archivist Elysiana <Curator> and it will enable the quest line and also Dalaran will show up over Karazhan. Please note Dalaran is not there until you speak to Archivist Elysiana <Curator>. This is as of Shadowlands patch 9.1.5

Don't bother picking this up before 30 (though you can). There is no way to get to Dalaran without flight.

Though maybe you can do it before 30 if you can get someone who has Dalaran phased and has a two-seater flying mount.

TO DO THIS QUEST AS OF SHADOWLANDS:

Step 1: Complete the introductory quest for Legion, which you can pick up from Chromie in Orgrimmar or Stormwind. (For levels 50+, see step 2c.)

Step 2: In Broken Isles Dalaran (Portal: Azsuna, then fly southeast to the floating city), enter The Violet Citadel (west end of the city) and turn left to find Archivist Elysiana.
2a: Do NOT use the portal for Northrend Dalaran, or you will be very confused.
2b: When entering Dalaran, you may acquire an autoaccept quest from your class hall. This is not the quest you need.
2c: If you are too high level for Chromie Time, Elysiana will give you the Legion intro quest FIRST, and you will not see the option for Calling of the Council until after you have completed it. You MAY be able to enter the scenario briefly, choose the option which says "I have already heard this story," and skip the scenario.
2d: Calling of the Council is a LONG SCENARIO. Prepare yourself.

Step 3: Talk to Elysiana and click the dialogue option which says "I want to experience the return of Magni Bronzebeard and Khadgar's adventures in Karazhan." If you do not see this option, you may have already completed it on that alt. See also 2c.

Though I am loathe to interrupt your fight against the Legion, I must request your help in a matter of... diplomacy. We face a grave threat, and we require the full might of Azeroth's people to overcome it.

The Horde must become part of the Kirin Tor once again. Some will not agree with this position.

Please join me outside the Violet Citadel in Dalaran. We have repositioned the city to defend the Eastern Kingdoms, above Karazhan.
