This is another one of those 'accept and complete' quests. There's nothing to it.

If you're using the Bodyguard Away addon, the "!" will show up but you won't be able to interact with the bodyguard to accept the quest. Remember to type "/bga off" to re-enable her dialog panel.

Yeah, this seemed to me to be a spell that I could cast when I chose to, but after scouring my spell book under all sections, I was unable to find this spell ANYWHERE. Apparently, as stated in the first comment, it's an ability she uses when she feels it necessary, and perhaps the taking of reduced damage by 50% applies to her only, not both you and her or just you. I don't know yet, as I've yet to see her use it, but she hasn't nearly died yet since I got it earlier today. I'll try and remember to post a more definitive answer to this once I find out more as this all seems vague speculation to me right now.

Update: OK, so had a chance where I was in a fight just now where Defender Ilona was my bodyguard and both HER health AND mine were getting quite low (below 20%), and I didn't see her activate anything like Illona Ability: Guardian of Ancient Kings - no Guardian of Ancient Kings spawned visually on my screen, nor was there any mention of the spell activated or the Guardian himself in my combat log anywhere that I could find, and I certainly didn't have a -50% damage buff and again nor was it mentioned it my combat log being cast on myself or Defender Ilona herself.

So, to me, there's no evidence that she cast this herself, at least not before she died and I nearly died, nor have I found any way to activate Illona Ability: Guardian of Ancient Kings myself. So to me, it's a mystery. I don't know how, or if, it works properly as of now (11/14/15). Beats me what the deal is right now!
