Old Hillsbrad

Andormu at the Caverns of Time has asked that you venture to Old Hillsbrad and speak with Erozion.

Description

To the west is the timeway to Hillsbrad of the past - 7 years to be exact.

Forces are working against the Horde warchief, Thrall, attempting to prevent him from ever escaping Durnholde Keep.

If Thrall never escapes, this world - as you know it - will cease to exist.

Gather a group of adventurers and take the timeway to old Hillsbrad. Two of our agents await you inside.

Speak with Erozion on the other side.

Old Hillsbrad is the first instance you are allowed to enter in the caverns and is very insightful as to warcraft lore. If you go to the southshore inn you will hear a story of the origins of Ashbringer. But mainly, Old Hillsbrad is for rescueing Thrall from the orc internment camp known as Durnholde Keep. If you do not rescue him, the world will cease to exist.

In Old Hillsbrad despite it is only 7 years ago you see Whitemane and several other bosses from SM as young children. Apparently we've been fighting kids in SM this whole time. Even adding 7 years to what they look like in Old Hillsbrad none of the bosses in SM should even be legally able to drink in the U.S.

I can't believe a 14-year old wiped my whole party. :-(

If you are looking to get out of the instance, for whatever reason, you need to go where the Yeti caves are. It is directly north from southshore and west of tarren mills.

Just some random notes: you can repair in the instance at Tomas Yance - I was horde and he talked to me - you can do the Thrall escort in parts if you die - after taretha or whatever we died and started back at the inn in Tarren Mill - also, you have to fight about 4 groups of about 4 on the way out - at the entrance to the keep is a boss pally, kill warders first they heal - and Trall rides the pally's horse! in TM Thrall runs through a few buildings that you help him clear out - 4-5 68elites in each - then after Taretha you fight three groups of about 3 of these dragonkin - not too hard - then a big dragon comes - again not too hard for 5 70s whole thing took a couple hours tho.

Fun little note, NE Druids (don't know about Taur, but I assume it works for them too) can enter the water, change into aquatic form, and when you exit, the Human Illusion spell will not re-activate. It will come back again if you change forms. Do it now, before Blizz fixes it!

Seems like they used old or rejected models for a lot of the towns folk. Lots of new human faces, and knee-length skirts.

Man, I wish I knew more Warcraft lore. There's so much cool stuff to see and watch.

Just to warn anyone wanting to help Thrall escape, once you get to Thrall make 100% sure that all party members complete the quest Taretha's Diversion by talking to Thrall and DO NOT PROCEED FURTHER (i.e. tell everyone in the party to not accept any quest from Thrall).

Only once everyone completed the quest "Taretha's Diversion", and sees Thrall with an exlamation mark proceed further with the escort. I don't know if you need to accept the quest and then talk with him again, or it starts automatically (so if anyone knows better just reply to my post).

I just had to abort an instance, one guy being so dissed that he just logged off (so we couldn't even reset the instance) because someone in the party was very mouse-click happy and decided to ruin it for the rest of us.

Also, there are other bugs with this quest, so make sure to read with the very valuable feedback people left for each and everyone of the quests in this quest line!!!!!

Since the addition of Don Carlos in OH, you're able to reset the instance at will on heroic mode. You still have a raid ID in /raidinfo but the instances is indeed reset.

What I want to know is, does this open the door to farming heroic Old Hillsbrad for badges? If so, I think I'm going to have to create a farming team.

This chain and various other CoT quests do count towards the Loremaster of Kalimdor achievement.

I wonder why Blizzards own LFG tool claim that OHB is a level 64-73 instance, when an attunement is required, that you can't start until level 66?

Don't attempt this quest in a cross-server group! When you speak to Thrall in the dungeon for a second time, he will NOT share the escort quest. Thus, only the person who spoke to him will get credit.

Blizzard needs to fix this.

OK, I read through several of the notes and still could not figure out what I needed to do to run this instance. I pretty much had to figure it out on my own and since I did, I figured why not let everyone else know in a simple and easy way how to do this. How thoughtful of me :)

A quick note before getting started with this instance, I've been doing Loremaster for awhile now so I'm not sure if there are any prerequsite quests for but if there isn't you wanna grab this before doing this instance. Pretty easy fight just tank and spank Don Carlos and he drops dead leaving you his hat. You get the quest in Gadgetzan from none other than Don Carlos and also turn it in to him, how clever.

#1 Get the quests needed to do the instance. starts the chain of quests for the instance. "Andormu" gives the quest she/he is just outside of the entrance to the instance.

#2 OK this part was very confusing to me because no one explained it in a straight forward manner in all the notes I could find for the 2nd quest. As soon as you enter the instance you'll meet up with "Erozion." You hand in the 1st quest to him and then accept the 2nd one . If you read what "Erozion" says then this part really isn't too hard to understand but when you're workin towards Loremaster you usually don't take too much time for that.

#3 OK, so you accepted now talk to "Erozion" again and tell him you're ready then he tells you to ride "Brazen" to Durnehold Keep. Now talk to "Brazen" to ride him/her to Durnehold Keep. Gratz! You've dicovered what took me an hour to do.

#4 Now there are some tough mobs, lvl 63 elites all through out this place so be prepared. You'll want pots, good heals and a decent tank, or just be an epic geared 80 DK, this works too.

#5 "Erozion" gives you some neat little bomb thingys to place inside of some barrels in the prison holding cells . The barrels that you are supposed to place the bombs in will stick out and be a bit richer in color than the other barrels in the area. It has been noted that if there are people in your group that have completed this quest before that they can not place the bombs in them selves because it will glitch and not work properly. I don't know if the problem still exists as I soloed this, so to be on the safe side have only those who have not completed the quest do this errand.

#6 AFTER all 5 Bombs are placed then go into the basement of Durnehold Keep and speak with "Thrall" turn in the quest to him. Then accept the quest from him.

#7 is an Escort quest, if this was not previously known now it is. Thrall doesn't waste any time getting his Orc booty outta Durnehold Keep, if ya know what I mean. So you definitely need a group if you're only lvls 63-72 or so. Bring pots because if healers run outta mana it's going to be a wipe.

#8 Basically you'll have a one boss on the way to Tarren Mill, just be ready. It's pretty much tank and spank with these bosses. The action gets pretty thick once you get back to Tarren Mill and the attacks start up again. So save pot cd's for those last battles. There's a little time for cd renewal from Durnehold Keep to Tarren Mill so you can pot on the 1st main boss. The last boss is a fairly decent fight still tank and spank style combat but the dragon thing has alot of hp around 100k, so be ready.

#9 Hand in the quest to the old Wizard guy (Erozion) after he mourns about Taretha having to be teleported to some other dimension or something like that. He then gives you the last quest which is simple enough to do as the title explains it all. Just exit the instance by goin to the old Yeti caves and continuing until you leave the instance. Upon exiting you will see Andormu waiting to give you your well earned reward.

I have done the quest in ordinary mode. I tried in heroic but Andormu just ignores me so I can'tr get started. Any suggestions?

Where do you turn in this quest? Thrall disappeared, there's no question mark on the map anywhere to turn it in. It's very frustrating, can someone please help?
