I can confirm that Nalak flies around at the stage 3/4 in The Isle of Thunder.
I saw him at 62.06 , 21.36.
I do blieve that he isn't killable since he flies around the air and he's LoS.

I could see him fly over the Thunder Forges while my realm was on Stage 1. Couldn't attack him though.

Stages Complete: Players unlock one of the new world bosses, Nalak, as well as an easier entrance to Throne of Thunder.

Nalak CAN'T be done before ALL stages have been completed.

Actually Curse.Com has a new Add-On called "Weekly World Bosses" that will tell you exactly Who has killed Who, I now have 6 90's on the same server and have SO much trouble keeping track.......

This add-on has really helped with that.

You do NOT need to complete Stage 5 to unlock Nalak. On Illidan he has currently been downed multiple times, and we are progressing through 5.

Can be attacked and killed without doing any personal progress on Isle of Thunder. Just need to have all stages complete on the server.

He's an awesome boss.
If you're on a high pop server and about to unlock him. Be sure to stand right where he spawns.
Otherwise you'll constantly have to run back to him due to the server crashing.

General Info:
Nalak the Storm Lord respawns around every 15-20 minutes, just like Sha of Anger do.

Your own faction doesn't need to have completed stage 5 for him to come down and be attackable.

Just like with the other world bosses you don't have to be in a raid group to get the tag, as long as someone from your faction has the tag.

Drops:
Nalak drop tier 15 normal gear and season 13 PvP gear. He also drops the mount Reins of the Thundering Cobalt Cloud Serpent

Abilities:
Arc Nova: He will make a big AoE around himself, basically just run away ASAP or you will receive a lot of damage and get knocked away. Prioritize this over Lightning Tether if you are melee and maybe also ranged depending on if you like to stand close to your target.

Lightning Tether: Stack under him to avoid taking damage you don't have to.

Static Shield: There is not really any way to avoid this, just try to stay near a healer or use defensive cooldowns.

Stormcloud: Try to spread out, either use common sense or use DBM's
/range 10 to see if there is anybody near you. (If you have DBM it should do like this by default tho.)

Speach:
Before he comes down Nalak himself will yell:
"I am born of thunder!"
and
"Can you feel the chill windblow? The storm is comming."

During the encounter he will yell:
"The air crackles with anger!"
"The clouds arc with vengeance!"
"The sky weeps for your demise!"

And when he is dead he will yell:
"I am but... The darkness... Before the storm..."

Want hilarious DPS? Get the Charged Moganite PVP daily and do Nalak while you have the moganite on you. The buff does damage listed as 'Voice of the Thunder King' and procs seem to be based on your targets HP...which means you don't notice it much when questing, but vs Nalak we're talking 12 million plus per proc!

Edit:- erm...wait a bit for the tank to get aggro though...I just did this on my frost dk, waited a few sec, ran in, hit boss, Voice procced for 13.8 million hit, I took aggro and died ;p

We did this last night with a group of 23 so will share some quick facts.

You will need to do some Thunder Isle scenarios to get to him. I wasn't finished but I had completed everything up to slaying Shan Bu and I was fine while others who didn't do a few couldn't get to us/see nalak. Our CRZ friends who we summoned didn't have to do this (some didn't even start the scenarios but could see nalak) but those belonging to the realm had to open the door before they could get to Nalak.
Have for the cloud. Basically this attack is like most cloud/posion/bad-stuff-that-hurts-others debuff so just run back to the walls until it is removed.
Run out of the bad stuff on the ground. Your healers will probably let you die if you just stand there like a pleb.
When tethered run in a little but not under Nalak. I've been reading posts on running right under Nalak, don't do this just run a little in to reduce damage. Why? because his ridiculously powerful AoE is casted shortly after tether and if you have peeps taking damage and are stacked under him it's likely some or most won't run out in time to avoid the AoE so the double damage will kill them. So just run in a little to reduce damage then when the AoE is cast run out, even when tethered, to avoid the massive damage AoE.
You can't miss any of his attacks. The bad stuff on the ground looks all sparky, the cloud looks like a cloud, the tethered is a massive bolt of continuous lightning & the AoE is a giant circle of electricity.
As soon as Nalak starts casting the AoE nova run! It's fast and keyboard turners & generally slow runners will get stuck.
For second chance loot you will need not .

This is for raid leaders to just cut and paste for the group....

/rw Don't stand in the bad stuff on the ground.
/rw If you get a cloud on you, run away from everyone till it's off you. Don't be bad and hurt your friends!
/rw If you are tethered run in a little to reduce damage. Don't stack under Nalak.
/rw Giant lightning circle, everyone including tethered peeps GTFO! Run to the walls till over.
/rw There will be constant minor damage, don't freak our healers are good.

... if you have a solid group who follows those directions you won't wipe. It's a very straight forward fight.

Now that Nalak is live on most servers, it is time for some general facts about him:
- He is very easy to kill, much like Sha of Anger. You should be fine with 25-30 people.
- His spawn time is between 15 and 20 minutes.
- Your server needs to have the whole island and all stages unlocked for him to spawn. However, only one faction needs to complete stage 5.
- You do NOT need to complete any personal unlocks (solo scenarios) in order to kill him.
- You can loot him on any server as long as you have the tag. (This change was done on april 22th. 2013).
- You can use a Mogu Rune of Fate in order to gain an extra roll.
- You can only loot him once per week, and may only use a Mogu Rune of Fate on one kill per week.
- He is faction tag, so you will get kill credit even if you are not in a group. Just attack him, and you will get loot.

Drops:
- He can drop ilvl 522 tier gloves and pants. (Tier 15).
- He can drop ilvl 493 Tyrannical Gladiator's bracers, neck, back, pants, gloves, belt, rings and boots.
- He can drop a rare mount Reins of the Thundering Cobalt Cloud Serpent. (Probably around 1 % drop chance).

His hit box is huge, so as a melee you can hit him from quite a long range - which helps a lot for running out of Arc Nova.

If you are killing him for the legendary quest, Spirit of the Storm Lord, some advice:

Throw your spear at ~8% to be safe. I tried throwing at 10% exactly once and nothing happened.
You can throw your spear if your faction does not have the tag. If you can sit in stealth and wait for the opposing faction to bring his life down, you can throw at 1-2% and kite the add away. Don't run into the guards, however, as they will kill you for some reason
Don't try to dps the add, just run away, and in around 20 seconds it will despawn and you will complete the quest

The boss has large melee radius so you don't have to stand right next to him. Go as far as you can to avoid deadly lightning attack much more easily.

Here is an ultra quick guide to this fight.

Abilities
There are 3 abilitiesArc Nova, Lightning Tether and Stormcloud

Arc Nova - A large circular lightning ring appears under and around the boss. Run out of it ASAP

Lightning Tether - Puts a dot on you. Ticks for more the farther you are from Nalak. Stack up on Nalak to take minimal damage

Storm Cloud - Puts an area DoT on you. Damages players within 10 yards. Spread

Additional Info

The boss has a health pool of 310 million. Given the current damage people can do its quite a short fight, even with less than full raid groups. He does a 4th ability thats unavoidable. This falls under normal raid healing. The boss is unlocked after the final stage of the Isle of Thunder. He spawns every 15 mins.

People reporting issues with the macro not working with Oondasta, I've located the NPC on WoWHead and the ID of the NPC is different than the one posted... you can try this one although I haven't tested it as I changed the ID of Oondasta to the one shown on WoWHead.

As of the hotfix april 22th

"Players coalesced from a different realm are now eligible to receive loot or use a bonus roll after defeating Oondasta or Nalak."

So you can get loot from cross realm raids now.

This boss can be lured into the room that contains the ToT entrance so the Booty Bay powered guards (there are 10) will help your raid kill him . This comes at the cost of the raid having a smaller space to fight him and the potential to be knocked into the ToT portal by Arc Nova. This may earn the ire of people zoning in from a previous night of ToT raiding at the same time as the raid fights him.

Folks the macro to test for the boss kills has an error. I was getting reported that I had not killed Oondasta, despite killing it 3 times. A GM kindly corrected the macro. It should be:

Has anyone else encountered phasing issues with Nalak as of 13th June?

I was just in a group doing it - I got summoned to the stone, and couldn't see anyone, but I can see everyone on my map. Then when the boss was pulled it was as if there was only like 1/5 of the raid fighting it.

Solo with my lock. Not a lick of damage.

0. With voidlord as minion...
1. Run underneath Nalak.
2. Throw lance.
3. Run up stairs towards the monks.
4. Wait about 20 seconds.
5. Collect quest.

Voidie died in the action, but I brought him back from the dead, good as new. I'm not sure if it was voidie keeping his attention away from me that gave me the time or not, but it worked. So maybe this is harder for those who have no pets, but I was pleasantly surprised. Was it the pet who helped me here, or was it my running up the steps? Anyone know? I'll need to do this same Q with a few other toons with no pets, so I expect I'll see then, but...

Neat hunter trick, semi unrelated - if you use Eagle Eye on the uppermost tower in the middle of the outside of ToT, you can see another Nalak flying around the back portion of Throne of Thunder.

As of patch 6.0.2 the Shado-Pan Enforcers' level was increased to 100. I just soloed him easily as an ilvl 549 Discipline Priest by kiting him to the entrance of ToT, getting 8 guards attack him (you can pull the guards by his aoe lightning). I spammed PW:S, Penance and holy nova to keep myself alive(Remember to stand out of Arc Nova). It took about 5 minutes for the guards to kill Nalak. Enjoy!

Edit: It should also be easy to do the Black Prince's quest this way, just remember the add hits hard so don't let it near you.

The spawn timer on Pandaria world bosses seems to have been lengthened considerably, now that we're level 100. Nalak was not present when I arrived on the grounds, and waiting for an extended period of time, there was no sign of him.

I have no idea how long the spawn time is now, but looks as if Blizzard is looking to limit the number of mounts that people are able to farm with them. So if you see one up, don't be greedy: take advantage of that 'all factions can tap' and get yourself a group to share the wealth!

Soloed a few nights ago at 653 ilvl without any help from the ToT guards and using a spirit beast to tank him. It's a lengthy fight (my kill took about 16mins) but pretty simple solo, just need to stay at max range so you don't take damage from Static Shield and if you run out of range before he finishes his cast of Lightning Tether it won't be applied to you. I actually managed to coin roll the mount too which was awesome :D

Killed Nalak using the Shado-Pan Enforcers to assist me, and was not awarded any type of loot, thought i was able to bonus roll. Raid info did not list me as locked to him either. Slayed him again, and still no loot. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
