One very annoying penguin. His peck will one shot you unless you keep making him slip on the floor and knocking him back.

As a Monk, I just kited him around the arena hitting him with ranged spells. Worked very well.

First* fight of Rank 2!

For any ranged class, simply spam instant casts. He will continuously fall, and will not be able to catch you.

One of my personal favorites. Has a single ability, peck. This peck will definitely instate a pecking order. It is a one shot kill, no exceptions. Dippy also moves very quickly, and continuously chases you, HOWEVER, Dippy has very poor footing. any single ability will knock dippy back and down for a second. Pets are a great help in this fight, to simply increase the number of attacks dealt.

If you are really struggling, try grab the Ghost Iron Dragonling from the auction house. Should be quite cheap and will come in handy.

Dippy has a hard time walking on stone. He casts peck and it will one shot if he hits you with it. Hitting him will make him fall down and interrupt his cast or you can choose to outkite him.

As a ranged dps, you don't actually have to kite him. You can simply stand still, but make sure you cast instants on him. If you do that, he won't be able to cast Peck on you, which is what kills you instantly. If you want to use casted abilities, do so right after you have interrupted Peck to make sure they go through before he casts Peck again. Whilst this method might be slower, it 100% ensures survival, which is ultimately what matters.

Make sure you don't hit him while he is standing with his back to a wall, he seems to stop slipping and kicks your butt. At least that's what just happened to me as a rogue. I was spamming sinister strike and he still got the cast through.

This adorable little bastard is harder than it seems. He has only one ability: Peck.

Does well over 400k on plate, and has a 1.0 sec cast-time, (or 0.5 not really sure) and if he casts this on you, you're dead. Simple as that.

He also has some problem getting his footing, any direct hits on him will make him slip and fall for about 1 second. Only DIRECT hits FROM YOU make this happen, dots don't count, neither do AoEs, or pet attacks.

Every time he is hit by any direct hit, he will fall down and be knocked back a little bit, if you are a ranged class, just spam any instant-cast ability you have and play it safe.

FOR MELEE CLASSES, THIS PART IS VERY IMPORTANT: While he will fall down every time he is knocked down, he will also be knocked back a little bit, and eventually he will hit one of the walls, when this happens HE WILL NOT FALL AGAIN AND WILL ONE SHOT YOU. To counter this, once you have him against a wall, run away as fast as you can, he will chase you, and once you have him far enough from the wall, continue your relentless assault. You must not stop hitting him at any moment, his peck is deadly.

For all classes: Do note that he is immune to pretty much all forms of CC and snares, and if you use a pet, he will ignore them and focus on you (confirmed only as a DK, used army of the dead, and he ignored their taunts and focused on me)

As long as you're constantly attacking him, you can (and should!) stand still and simply attack him. If he gets out of range, let him come to you.

Whatever you do, do NOT back him into the wall.

I have a Blood DK that went up against him with 476k life, and actually SURVIVED the peck. I believe that it does somewhere around 450k flat damage.

If you are tanking the brawls, you have a SLIM chance of surviving the first peck. My suggestion: Move away if you're out of instant cast abilities. =)

Ok, I won't link anything fancy, I will just tell you the best strategy that I came up with.

1. At the start of the fight, run/back peddle to the wall directly behind you and face where Dippy will come from.

2. When Dippy appears he will charge you. He needs to be in melee range to cast and hit you with peck. So don't worry, you wont be a sitting duck.

3. Once Dippy is at you, simply start hitting him. Direct hits will knock him backwards, preventing him from using his one shot kill attack. Because the arena is a rectangle and you are starting at the furthest end, you have the most possible time to attack/do damage to him before he hits a wall.

4. Once Dippy hits the wall, he can't be knocked back and he will be free to cast peck and kill you if you are too close. So right after you hit him before he hits the wall. RUN. Run to the other side where you started.
Use Displacer beast, Use sprint, use your lock teleport, use blink, use instant ghost wolf, use heroic leap, use priest feathers, use judgement sprint. What ever class you have, Use your abilities or even change your talents to be able to get away.

5. Once at the wall where you started at, just wait for Dippy to charge you again and start all over! It's so simply easy you will be smiling while you do it :)

Killed him on my rogue by simply standing still. He will move himself back in range and won't begin casting peck until you're hitting him again, trivialising the whole fight.

The easiest way to defeat Dippy as a Shadow Priest (my main) comes down to one ability: Mind Flay.

Each tick of Mind Flay causes Dippy to fall and be knocked back, so you should have no issue whatsoever defeating him.

The easiest strategy:

As soon as the battle starts, run backwards for maximum distance. Spam press tab or click where he spawns, and as soon as he is up, cast Vampiric Touch. After this, spam cast Mind Flay until the original distance is once again between the two of you, then cast Mind Blast followed by Pain, and back to Mind Flay. If you have Surge of Light, then cast Mind Spike whenever it gets triggered for the extra damage. Again, Mind Flay until you win.

If you are in decent gear (all blue, perhaps some epics), you should have no issues with killing him before the rain of fire gets triggered.

Dippy CANNOT be affected by Psychic Scream, so if he gets too close to you, you're probably done for. I didn't get a chance to try Void Tendrils, but I doubt they'd work to snare him.

This little pecker hit my iLevel 480 Lock for over 950k. The next attempt, I stood in one place and spammed Fel Flame. It sucks mana, but you don't need much health. So life tap away. It didn't matter if I had 425k or 1 health. I can't absorb 950k.

I got the achievement "Haters Gonna Hate (Season 2)". It's easy to hit me with rotten fruit when I stand still.

Hilariously easy as an Enhancement Shaman. Flat-out beat on him while repositioning so he's not knocked backed into a wall (not sure if necessary, but played it on the safe side). If you get uncomfortable at all pop Ascendance and laugh because lol30ydautos.

As a warrior I put my back to a wall and didnt move once. He would get knocked back and came right to me. I can see this working for any melee classes and a lot of ranged who have quick spammy instants.

Tips for melee players: Spam the -most- use-able skill you can that is not on a high cooldown, or make certain to, if you have access to range/throw skill (that means you, Rogues/Warriors) utilize those; stand in the center of the arena, as moving with Dippy to the edges of arenas prevents the knockback occurring that in turn prevents his oneshot, seeing as if you simply spam him every once in a while to keep distance while a few minor cooldowns come up, or if you simply need distance, you should have decent amounts of time. I believe it is that for every landed blow (glances and blocks do count, but parries/misses/absorbs, and perhaps even Damage over Times do not) that Dippy is knocked back, so that either a high hit-rate or something so spam-able as a throw every half a second should provide ample time for you to recover a 5 second cooldown during the entirety of the 1 minute fight (or enough to prepare your cooldowns such as Enrage and Bear Hug, Shouts and Bladestorms, etc). Fair brawling, fellow bloodlusters!

I was extremely disappointed by this boss fight from Brawl'gar Arena as a Moonkin Druid (Balance). I used incarnation, celestial allignment, then went ahead to use Nature's Vigilance, popped my Herbalist bonus ~~Lifeblood (for haste),~~ (Rest in Peace), treants for tangle roots, nature's touch, and the intellect potion sold by Paul North, used Starfall, and simply spammed the stuffing out of Moonfire/Sunfire after having had used Faerie Fire to bring down his defenses. With my alchemist trinket providing ~~4,300 intellect bonus~~ (rest in peace, dumb stat crunch, still believe they could have avoided it but... ahh, whatever), I basically owned Dippy. With so much haste, hitting him every second for SO much damage, he dropped in all of 10 seconds like a breeze. Wasn't even in a full heroic Pandaria dungeon gear set.

Dippy has only one ability called Peck. This ability has a 1-second cast time and will only hit you if you are still in melee range when the cast finishes. The damage it deals is so high that getting hit by it will kill you.

Whenever Dippy takes damage, he gets knocked back. You need to use this mechanic to keep Dippy at large. What matters is the frequency at which you damage him, so prefer spell and abilities that have a short cast time.

If you're a monk with a Brewmaster spec, you can spam Tiger Palm indefinitely (no cost). Between that and auto-attack, you should be just fine.

For ret paladins dont even think about going melee with this guy. One lag spike mixed with out long ability cds and higher GCDs is going to be deadly (remember immune to stuns). So tactic is to pick talents Long arm of the Law (speed when you judge) and Sanctified Wrath (3 sec cd on Hammer of Wrath+10sec on Holy Avenger). Start the fight in range, try to avoid melee at all cost and just rotate your range abilities on him (exo+judgement+ 3 sec hammers). He will go down really fast and every time one of these hit him he will get stunned and knocked.

For anyone having trouble with any boss in the Brawler's guild, you can use a trick to fix fights in your favor by using other people to kill any other brawler's guild boss to have you raise ranks.

Frost mage 513 GS. I started the fight without knowing the strategy. At first both penguins started to attack my pet. I targeted Dippy and DPS him down with no problem. After that I switched to Doppy. He seems being tougher and not CC-able (not confirmed). But looks like I had enough pets to keep him busy and killed him just before the timer. Overall not the most complicating fight especially for rangers.

The only one problem that can appears is when the boss is in corner / near the wall, the cast of Peck is not always interrupts even by FoK so you need 2 b rdy to use spring and run out.

Insanely easy!
Fought this little guy as a rogue. While he is immune to stun and hits like a truck, as long as you stay away from him you are fine. This is accomplished quite easily by throwing knives at him or using fan of knives. I also occasionally ran through him to use more powerful hits (just so the fight would go faster! LOL). He is easy to damage and throwing knives (or using fan of knives) makes him fall backwards.

WARRIORS - just stand in the center and let the penguin come to you. Every time it does, just hit it. It'll knock back and fall down, but DON'T FOLLOW, let it get up and come to you then hit it again.

This accomplishes 2 things:

1) You'll always have an attack ready to use, so you don't get caught with something on cooldown when it starts to peck.

2) You don't run it up against the wall - which is basically instant death.

After reading the comments here and trying in vain and getting killed every time I approached Dippy I think i am going to be at rank 2 for quite some time which says alot about my rading skills which sucks too regardless of playing the same class for 5 years 24/7.

First I tried kiting Dippy around the room, but could not get off enough instant spells while moving to keep him away from me. It took me several deaths and reading the above posts to figure out the mechanics that each time Dippy is hit with a spell or a melee attack he gets knocked back and his one-shot peck spell is interrupted.

This is the strategy that worked for me as a destruction lock.

I sent my pet to attack and and then turned on auto attack and cast immolate and conflag. By this time he had one-shotted my pet with peck and had turned his attention on me. This time I stayed in one place and let him come to me. Each time he got near me my auto attack hit him and knocked him back, then I alternately cast conflag (when off cooldown -12 seconds), fel fire (til out of mana), and incinerate. I continued this until he was dead.

Hunter - Marksman Lone Wolf - The easiest fight I've ever had...ever. Every time I hit him, it knocked him backward quite a distance. I didn't try my frost trap, although that would have probably helped as well.

Simply stand there and spam Steady Shot while weaving in some of your other instants when they're off cool down.

Just for good measure I used Lone Wolf: Haste of the Hyena and Rapid Fire

BM hunter is my main spec. I really don't feel proficient enough in MM to meet the enrage timer, but I still one-shotted Dippy in BM spec. I placed my pet in the center of the area ("move to") and kept him on assist. My pet did follow Dippy pretty close to the wall. Because of the damage Peck does, I shifted to Aspect of the Fox to rez my pet. In retrospect, I should have used Heart of the Phoenix, but I always forget it's there. Anyway, a decent pet-class is perfectly capable of beating Dippy.

TL;DR BM hunters: Position pet in the center with "move to", keep moving pet back to center, use instant pet razzes like Heart of the Phoenix or a casted rez with Aspect of the Fox.

Confirmed this is an easy fight for arms warrior. Just stand still and hit him with something ... anything and he will slide back. When he comes back in range just hit him again. Pro tip: Manage your rage.

Tips for warlocks:

As of 6.0.3, I strongly recommend going affliction for this guy. While dot ticks do not knock him back, the initial application of the debuff will. This allows you to just run around the arena avoiding his peck with the added bonus that Unstable Affliction is a fast enough cast to not put you in danger. Ranged pets will also be more likely to survive the initial pull and continue to dps the annoying penguin as well.

Just completed this with a Windwalker Monk. Let him run up to me then hit him, he slipped and fell backwards. I didn't move once. He just keeps running back up and can't cast anything before I hit him again. Recommend this tactic for everyone. Hit him hard with a spell while he's down/recovering then whack him again once he runs back up to you.

For those that want to kill every boss before they gone in the legion pre-patch and, like me, want to know if is needed to folow any tacticts to kill this boss: as elemental shaman 738 just nuke :)

Used Primal Fire Elemental with glyph so it is up every fight, Brawler's Draenic Intellect Potion, Ring, Ascendence, Elemental Mastery and Spiritwalker's Grace (in case you really need to move)

Hope this could save time to someone!

Windwalker Monks using SEF: Your clones attacks do knock him back, making it harder to keep him away from a wall, since if you get between him and the wall. The clones can continue knocking him at the wall.

Feral Druid tip, take Balance Affinity for this fight. The extended range from Astral Influence on your attacks means you can box Dippy into a corner and continuously DPS him from a safe enough distance to not get hit by Peck. No having to run back and forth across the area!

For shadow priest: Just hit mind flay on cooldown and keep sw:p up for the damage. If you keep hitting mind flay (recast it, don't channel it) you'll knock him back far enough to get a mind blast off and VT. Easy win and didn't have to move an inch.

NEVER PUT DIPPY IN A CORNER.

The deceptive thing about Dippy is that, while he lacks complexity, he plays to each side's weaknesses.
The Peck attack is a one-shot mechanic: he finishes it, you die. However, it can be interrupted by knocking him back; he can be knocked back by literally any direct-damage ability fired at him due to his Slippery debuff. The trick is to keep a consistent rate of fire on him in order to keep him from casting.
HOWEVER, Dippy will NOT be knocked back if there is no space for him to be knocked back; this prevents players from simply pushing him all the way into a corner and wailing on him.

Thus, the conundrum: For a melee player, he relies on you being able to give him the space required in order to keep knocking him back. For a ranged player, he relies on you being able to fire off a consistent rate of attack without giving him any downtime to finish a Peck.
However, it also means his weakness is a mid-range class, like a BM/MM Hunter or (in Legion) Balance Affinity Feral Druids and Clawing Shadows Unholy DKs.
