The last boss found in Blackrock Caverns, Obsidius will kill your companion, Raz the Crazed regardless of his health, leaving your group to kill him. It's a fairly straight-forward fight, he whirlwinds, spawns an add, and does some additional AoE damage, very simple. Interesting to note, he has the model and color of an iron dwarf with the texture of an earthen.

At the pull, he has quite a few adds, which are all killed by Raz. Raz is in turn killed by Obsidius, and that is where the fight starts.

Obsidius then summons two Shadows of Obsidius, which take no damage and put a stacking healing debuff on the tank. As such, they must be kited. Slows and stuns work, but not much else.

Obsidius is the last boss in Blackrock Caverns. This is the boss I know least about. When you start the fight he will have two shadows. These will take no damage. They will apply a debuff on someone that will reduce healing taken by 99%. Threat works a little differently on them. Instead of building up threat, they work like the dark nucleus in the blood princes encounter, they will go after whoever hit them last. The boss will switch places with one of them randomly, dropping all threat. He also places DoTs on random party members. A good tatic to use, is to have the tank tank the boss and both shadows. Whenever the tank needs to heal (50% is good) have a ranged pull off the shadows. Whenever the tanks is full, have him pull them back off. This is a pretty easy fight, but things can fall apart if the shadows do not get off the tank.

Best tactic is to have a DPS start with an AE effect to get aggro from the adds -> tank taunts the boss and the DPS kites the two adds. After some time, the boss changes his position with one of the adds -> taunt the boss again and win :)

If you're interested, the bosses also have a loot table now. Dropped two blues (279 item level). From now on, I will write down the loot from BRC and post it here :)

Only advisable to nuke it like that on normal right now though.

or for those who've played Mass Effect 2,he's like Harbinger, ahh if only blizz had added him the voiced quote "ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL" when he switches places with the adds.

Just did this on Heroic. We had a hunter kite all three shadows around in a circle, using frost traps. The mobs move about the same speed as a running player when not slowed, and are easily kiteable when slowed. Using this strategy, this was one of the easiest Heroic bosses I've done so far.

Confirmed that a frost mage's freeze effect can root the shadows. With frost nova, cone of cold and water elemental's freeze, I was able to keep the two of them under control quite easily.

Tank the boss where he stands and have someone kite the three adds in a circle away from the boss (behind the group is a good place). The boss will occasionally swap places with one of the adds, have the tank go get him and bring him back to where he was.

Interesting fact: You can skip Karsh Steel and manually clear the trash.

We had trouble on him tonight with some major lag issues.

Other two were tons easier.

I just found the best way to do this boss on heroic mode! so listen up ppl!

I'm guessing everyone knows the "CC is ftw" in cata so..... what you need to do here is actually very simple.....im a boomkin and the way we handled this boss is : the tank engages the boss and takes him to the left side of the room and kites him around there all the while ignoring the adds.
now comes my part : aggro all the adds with whatever spell i can to the other side of the room ...when they are all near me i just popped nature's grasp. when they all hit me once instant CC on all 3 for 15-20 seconds. with the adds out of the way i can join the rest of the dps on the boss. the result of this is a "tank and spank" boss. So basically any mass cc'er like a mage (frost nova) etc. will work for this. Hope this helps and GL farming this guy :D

Kited them effectively as a shadow priest, inner will, bubble, form physical reduction, and dots to keep constant aggro made this fight very easy for the rest of the party.

An extremely simple kite as a DPS DK - obviously as Frost it's even easier, but still very basic as Unholy. Unholy Presence is FTW.

Start the pull with a DnD for snap threat - no one else is going to touch them so don't worry about getting in melee range. The tank peels the boss off you while adds charge for you.

Tank keeps the boss in the center while you run a WIDE circle around it - as far around as you can go. If you're Frost, save HC for moments when you get Tclapped with the adds near you, otherwise keep your CoI ready for anything that comes close.

I like spreading the applications of Chains out a bit so it ends up with one mob quite a way away just ending the snare, one in the medium distance halfway through and one close to you ready to be snared.

If things get really uncomfortable as Unholy, ScS to get a patch of Desecration up and leg it.

Tell your healer to dispel you - they'll waste far less mana doing this than trying to keep you alive when mobs start beating on you.

Easiest heroic boss iv'e done so far, started the fight with mind sear on the boss which aggroed all 3 of the adds on to me and then I dotted them and ran them around with inner will. When he teleported, things got dicey when I had to pull the center add so I had to disperse. I dispeled and shielded myself whenever possible.

Shamans can kite the adds here very well. Use rockbiter, chain lightning pull, tank picks up boss. Drop earthbind to slow. Frost shock to slow/generate threat. Chain lightning to keep up threat. Unleash weapon to taunt. Ghost wolf.

This boss is extremely trivial with a frost mage in your group on heroic, since all their snares, slows, and roots affect the adds. Can easily just rotate pet nova, cone of cold, and regular nova on them, with a few icelances to pick up the new add when he appears.

Cakewalk as a rogue. Slap crippling on your main hand and FoK. All three crippled, all three useless.
Becomes a simple tank and spank.

The easiest boss in Blackrock Caverns by some margin. Someone kites adds, tank moves boss away from them if need be. Everyone else facerolls.

Here's a strategy that worked very well for my group doing this fight on Heroic - strategy works just fine on Normal as well. Made the fight extremely easy.

To do this, the party needs at least one Hunter with the following:

* Glyph of Misdirection (resets Misdirect cooldown immediately when used on your pet)
* A Ferocity pet with a talent point in Heart of the Phoenix
* A macro or some other method of quickly misdirecting to your pet repeatedly.

When you're ready to start the fight, put your pet on Passive and use "Move To" to put your pet in one of the far corners behind the boss. If you do this right, you won't pull the boss or the adds just by doing this. Then the hunter starts the fight by casting Misdirect on the pet, then using Multi-shot on one of the adds (the multi-shot should hit the other add(s), possibly the boss.) If all goes well, all the adds will start running to the pet. Tank should single-target-taunt the boss and pull him away from the adds. Hunter needs to stay on the adds and keep misdirecting them to the pet until they're securely there - they will always attack the most RECENT threat, not the highest, so if you miss the misdirect timing, they'll start running after you.

When the boss switches places with one of the adds, tank needs to taunt the boss back to him again, while the hunter starts misdirecting the adds back to the pet. If the adds come off the pet, this is a good time to heal it. Keep repeating this until the boss is dead.

It's likely that your pet will die in the middle of battle. In my run, my coyote died with the boss at about 50% health. This is why you need Heart of the Phoenix - use that to rez your pet, make sure it's still on passive, use Mend Pet to raise its happiness again if you can, and put it back in the corner. Then misdirect again and send the adds over there.

Here's the macro I've been using for my Misdirects:

Copy/paste that into a macro and stick it on your action bar. Then, when you're by yourself (or in a special situation like this), clear any focus target you may have and then just click it, and it misdirects to your pet automatically. When you're in a group and in a more normal combat situation, set the tank as your focus target, and the macro misdirects to him or her.

Hunters are probably the best choice for kiting the adds. Use multishot occasionally and drop frost traps and snake traps on cooldown. Frost traps last long enough that you can kite the adds through them several times and snakes from snake traps apply a slowing poisen. When the boss switches with one of the adds, you can use distracting shot to taunt the loose add. If you get hit by the bosses stomp, simply turn away from the mobs and jump-disengage. If disengage is on cooldown, deterrence.

If you're survival it's pretty trivial to also keep some dps on the boss with LnL procs from the frost traps, black arrow, and serpent sting. Not that you would need to because if you kite the adds the fight is trivial, but it might impress your friends :P

Frost mage destroys this boss. You can essentially lock the adds in place with our 300 different frost novas and freezing effects. When the boss swaps, its a simple matter of ice lance to get the add back. Hardly any dps is lost, I don't think the boss can get any easier than with having a frost mage in your group.

Shaman's can kite the adds with ease with earthbind totem and if they are elemental and have spec'd earth's grasp then its even easier.

Having only 1 kiter can be tricky if they lose one and don't re-acquire it. I would suggest everyone be ready to CC/kite when needed. If those adds get on the tank, they'll block all heals to tank.

I just completed this fight trying to kite as a resto druid.

It was pretty much the easiest EVER after i found out that it is actually, with no run speed boost or anything, possible to outrun the adds. You don't even need a snare or roots (although Nature's Grasp can come in handy). They are, on a sidenote, immune to Cyclone.

Since the fight has almost no damage at all, as long as you dispel the DoT (it's called Twilight Corruption for those who wants to set up their healing addon to show it like me), i could heal everything with instant heals (Rejuv, Lifebloom, Swiftmend) while simply running big circles.

For the pull itself i used Wild Mushrooms (one for each add) to gain initial agro. From there it was simply healing agro that did the rest. If someone gets an add by accident, Bear Form and Growl does the trick.

Nature's Grasp/Entangling Roots is amazing for handling the adds. Unless something breaks CC, a Boomkin can easily roots these guys and go full DPS on the boss until they wear off. Dash in an emergency is a plus, but most likely not even necessary.

My own 2 cents, as a hunter. As many have said, kiting all 3 really is the way to go. A couple things to remember as the kiter...
Try to keep the adds away from the group... while you can dps the boss, your priority is allowing the healer to do his/her job and heal the tank.
Aspect of the Fox can help to increase dps as you're constantly on the move.
Don't ever forget your traps... using an Ice Trap can buy you several seconds of peace from close pursuers.
Remember to pick up the add that switches with Obsidius - that add will reset it's aggro table when it switches.
I almost never have any problem (unless dps or tank try to hit my adds), I pull the group and the tank pulls the boss off me, it's great every time.

For anyone attempting to 2-man this on Normal to gear up a toon for the 75-79 PvP bracket, it's very doable. We did it with an 85 holy paladin on the boss and a 79 subtlety rogue on the adds. It took around 12 minutes with the rogue putting Crippling Poison on the offhand, using Shiv on both adds as they came around, kiting them across the room and using Throw on the boss until the adds made it back...lather, rinse, repeat. The pally kept Beacon of Light on the rogue and his main source of damage was Holy Shock.

The most important thing is to remove the Twilight Corruption DoT from the player who's kiting the adds. 4000 damage every 2 seconds is a lot to heal through, especially with the adds' debuff that reduces healing taken. The adds themselves do have an auto-attack but it's quite manageable, hitting ~3k on leather. Just about any class with a movement impairing effect can handle the adds. Good luck getting your OP gear!

I sneak up close to him on my rogue, raz jumped out and killed 2 extra elemental adds that are patrolling before going down. Can save u a minute of killing adds.
