A BRIEF HISTORY:
Many centuries after the Old Gods were chained beneath the earth, a race known as the Sithilid began to appear in areas as remote as the Barrens. Intrepid adventurers eventually discovered the history behind the War of the Shifting Sands, and determined the best course of action would be to stop the impending invasion before it began.

With the aid of many allies, the leader of these heroes was able to reassemble the Scepter of the Shifting Sands, and, in a single resounding moment, forced the insects to begin the invasion into the waiting armies of Azeroth. Once the invasion was routed, these adventurers went into the ancient Temple of Ahn'Qiraj to discover, to their horror, the Old God C'thun lying in wait.

These agents of the Bronze Dragonflight were able to finally vanquish C'thun, but only about a year of rest was allowed before whispers of awakening pointed towards the revival of the Old God Yogg-Saron. Once the Northern Expedition (including the floating city of Dalaran) was successful in combating the servants of the Lich King in Naxxramas and in stopping the crazed antics of Malygos, leader of the Blue Dragonflight, they turned to the whispers of corruption and maddness seeping from Ulduar.

Eventually, these adventurers discovered the corruption of Loken, and his treachery and lies leading to the enslavement of the Keepers of Ulduar, and the corruption of the various wardens of the Titans. With the aid of Brann Bronzebeard and the Kirin Tor, these heroes were able to break through the defenses of this Titan City into the prison of the Old God. After a titanic effort, and using the aid of the freed Keepers, the champions of the Kirin Tor were able to vanquish yet another Old God - this Beast of a Thousand Maws.

The agents of the Kirin Tor may have ended Yogg-Saron's reign of terror - but these same adventurers still have many challenges yet to prevent the destruction of the world.

Okay, let's clear up some of this confusion about the Old Gods. As someone pointed out earlier, the history on them is rather sketchy, and has been retconned several times just since the release of World of Warcraft. The original lore regarding the Old Gods was that they were the first rulers of Azeroth, along with their elemental servants. The Titans, in their crusade to bring order to the Universe, defeated the Old Gods and banished them deep beneath the surface of Azeroth. 5 of them are known to exist, three of which were imprisoned, and two of which were thought to have been killed. C'Thun is one of the latter, who escaped death and imprisonment but was left nearly powerless in the barrens of Silithus. The beast slain in the Master's Glaive was *assumed* to be the other missing Old God.

Wrath of the Lich King changed up lore a bit. Rather than the Old Gods being first on Azeroth, they came after the Titans had created the mortal races and claimed it as their own, bestowing the "Curse of Flesh" that made the mortal races the way they appear today. The Titans returned and that's when they banished the Old Gods. It has not been established in WotLK how many Old Gods there actually were, so the number is still assumed to be 5, but it is unlikely they killed any of them, as there appears to be some reasoning why the Titans left the Old Gods alive. With that knowledge, and considering how important the Old Gods have become in lore, I severely doubt the beast slain the Master's Glaive ends up being an Old God, even if that was originally what he was meant to be.

So let's take a final tally.

1. C'Thun - killed in WoW, presumed dead in lore.
2. Yogg-Saron - appears to be killable, unknown if lore will hold that up.
3. An Old God appears to be responsible for the Nightmare affecting the Emerald Dream.
4. An Old God is presumed to have allied with the Naga, who gave them their current appearance. He is likely located within the Maelstrom.
5. Neltharion was likely driven mad by one of the Old Gods. Whether this was one we know about or not is unknown. Considering he now dwells deep below Grim Batol in caverns unknown by the dwarves, he could be having tea and crumpets with that Old God as we speak.

So is that our five? Hard to say. It's long been held that one of the Old Gods lived deep within Azjol-Nerub, but more than likely that's just Yogg-Saron pre-retcon. One could also be imprisoned within Uldum, but there is no evidence of that, it just makes sense considering its sister-site Ulduar is a prison. More information that one needs to know? Of course, but I was bored.

Neltharion is not an old god. Neltharion(aka Deathwing) is one of the Dragon Aspect so while very old and powerful not an old god. He has yet to be writen into the story(yet very likely will be abd killable). The one Darkshore is likely not an Old god due to the other 4 not killed obviously the Titans did not have the power to kill them but mearly contain them. What is Algalon, a titan that was the "jailor" of Yogg or was he something else? Anyway with 2 down I am sure one has something to do with Malestrom(probally the next logical expansion), one might pop up in 3.2 with the release of Gilneas (land south of silverpine forest) and probally one later in the emerald dream that causes the nightmare that resides there and created the nightmare dragons.

They're no 100% reliable evidence of that being an Old God. Most descriptions tag it as being a servant of the old gods. And in case you're referencing the quest "The Master's Glaive", Onu only refers to it as one of "the old, old lords of the earth. Lords defeated long ago.", which could just as easily apply to the elemental lieutenants of the Old Gods. The Devs in general don't seem interested in telling us what the creature in Darkshore was (same thing with the massive naga-like skeletons in Desolace).

Phase 1: Sara

The green clouds in the room will spawn Guardian of Yogg-Saron by themselves randomly, or by a player stepping into them. They will cast Dark Volley on the raid, which must be interrupted

* Dark Volley - Hurls missiles of dark magic, inflicting Shadow damage and wounding nearby enemies, reducing the effectiveness of any healing by 25% for 10 sec. 1.5 sec cast.

Sara will cast a several random buffs and debuffs, the most annoying being:

* Dominate Mind - Dominates the mind of the target, temporarily placing them under Yogg-Saron's control. Also reduces Sanity by 4%.

Guardian of Yogg-Saron explodes for heavy AoE damage. Killing them near Sara damages her. It takes 8 Guardian of Yogg-Saron in order to kill Sara to enter Phase 2.

Bloodlust/Heroism at the end of Phase 1 in order to help quickly clean up any left over Guardian of Yogg-Saron.

Phase 2: Yogg-Saron

Yogg-Saron emerges and cannot be damaged.

Yogg-Saron's Abilities

Each player in the raid will gain a sanity buff that begins at a stack of 100. If at any time this stack reaches 0, the player will become permanently mind controlled by Yogg-Saron and obviously must be killed. In order to endure the fight, you must use the Sanity Wells that appear around the room - these are large columns of green light.

* Sanity Well - Standing in the well brings you back to your senses, regenerating 20% Sanity every 2 sec. Damage done is reduced by 50% while you remain in the well.

Yogg-Saron will use the following abilities throughout Phase 2. They will not be casted on players who are in Yogg-Saron's Mind.

* Psychosis - Inflicts 7500 Shadow damage. Also reduces Sanity by 9%.

* Malady of the Mind - Inflicts 5000 Shadow damage and causes the enemy target to run in horror for 4 sec, then attempts to jump to another enemy within 10 yds. Also reduces Sanity by 3%.

* Brain Link - Links the brains of two enemy targets. This is the main threat to a player's sanity. Afflicted targets suffer 3000 Shadow damage and lose 2% Sanity every 1 sec. whenever they are more than 20 yards apart. Lasts 30 seconds. When the two players are too far from each other, the beam turns read; However when they are close, the beam turns yellow indicating what the debuff is doing. Either player entering Yogg-Saron's Mind will safely break Brain Link.

The /range window built into Deadly Boss Mods is a must for this fight for Brain Link and Malady of the Mind.

***Yogg-Saron's Tentacles***

Immediately following the transition into Phase 2, Yogg-Saron will begin spawning various types of tentacles:

* Crusher Tentacles - Channels Diminished Power on the raid, causing the raid to do 20% less damage while un-tanked. It gains a stacking buff which increases it's damage every time it is hit by direct damage. The tank should run in and out to avoid putting extra stacks on it themself, and call for DPS to stop once the damage is too high in order to let the buff fall off.

* Constricting Tentacles - Randomly spawn under a player, picking them up and immobilizing them, preventing them from casting most spells. The player also suffers damage over time. It must be killed in order to release the player.

* Corruptor Tentacles - Have moderate health and casts random, dispellable debuffs on players in the raid. Atrophy, a movement snare; A short duration Curse of Doom; Various Mana Draining, Health Draining and Stunning poisons. All casts can be interrupted, they can also be stunned.

Ranged DPS should kill Crusher Tentacles while melee kill the Constricting Tentacles, and especially the Corruptor Tentacles in order to interrupt and stun them to prevent them from casting their plethora of debuffs.

Yogg-Saron's Mind

Periodically throughout the fight, a raid warning will alert you to portals opening which send you into Yogg-Saron's mind. A group of DPS and a healer should be assigned to enter these portals.

Raid Warning: "Portals open into Yogg-Saron's mind!"

Once inside you will be in one of three events in Azeroth's past that Yogg-Saron has influenced. (Stormwind, Wyrmrest Temple or Icecrown Citadel). You must kill the tentacles which are the NPCs until a raid warning states "The illusion shatters and a path to the central chamber opens!". While destroying these tentacles, the group will take aoe damage from beacons located around the room as you pass them. These will also reduce your sanity by 2%.

After the tentacles have been taken care of, the path to the central chamber, "The Mind's Eye" opens, which contains Yogg-Saron's brain. Also, all tentacles in the normal realm (outside of Yogg-Saron's Mind) become stunned and will stop attacking and using all abilities for a short time.

Raid Warning: "The illusion shatters and a path to the central chamber opens!"

Yogg-Saron's Brain has 6,860,000 HP and begins casting Induce Madness as soon as you enter his mind.

* Induce Madness -Drives all nearby targets insane, reducing Sanity by 100%.

Portals outside of his mind are spread around his room. You must be quick to dispose of the tentacles and shatter the illusion so as to get as much DPS time in on the brain as possible, so you can take the portal out of his mind before he finishes casting Induce Madness.

Once Yogg-Saron's Brain reaches 30% HP, his shield will fade and his HP will drop dramatically (from around 55,000,000 to a more manageable 18,000,000). All tentacles will cease to spawn, and the raid must clean up any remaining tentacles.

Phase 3: Immortal No More

Immortal Guardians will begin to spawn every 10 seconds, which have only drain life as an ability. They also spawn with a buff stack which increases their size and damage done. As they take damage, this buff will decrease making them vulnerable to Thorim's "Titan Strike" ability which kills them. Otherwise, as suggested by their name, they cannot be killed.

When an Immortal Guardian becomes low on health, Yogg-Saron will begin to channel Empowering Shadows:

* Empowering Shadows - Empowers friendly units within 20 yds. of the target, causing them to regenerate 750,000 health over 20 sec. Instant cast.

Once this spell finishes channeling, the target Immortal Guardian and any friendly units to it within 20 yards, including Yogg-Saron himself, will heal for a hefty amount. The adds must be tanked so that Yogg-Saron, and preferably other adds, do not benefit from this buff. You must kill Immortal Guardians before Empowering Shadows is finished casting.

Yogg-Saron will periodically channel Lunatic Gaze:

* Lunatic Gaze - Looking into the maw of madness unhinges your mind, inflicting 5700 to 6300 Shadow damage and reducing Sanity by 4% every 1 sec. for as long as you are facing the caster.

The Immortal Guardians should be tanked so that DPS can damage them while facing away from Yogg-Saron while he channels Lunatic Gaze.

Due to the 15 minute berserk timer, adds may need kept busy to focus Yogg.

Unknown 3 would be the only one which from lack of lore would be a greater guess, though I will make one ^^, most lore says that most have gone insane and evil:O (inc massive logic jump) so this must mean 1 or more isnt? the old god linked to the maelstrom appears to me to be 1 such old god, its likely that the last Old god is in the region of the south of the eastern kingdoms, or at least the eastern kingdoms.

On a side note BFD is close the barrow dens that druids use to enter the emerald dream no? is it not plausable that IF an old god is responsible for the 'nightmare' that it is the Old god that is eluded to be in BFD?:o

Uhm, i don't believe that the death's quote of YS is referred to the fact that there is something worst then them, remember that:

The Titans determined that if the Old Gods were destroyed, it would devastate Azeroth. Instead, the Titans kept the Old Gods alive and imprisoned them beneath Azeroth.

The final yell of Yogg-Saron before his death is possibly linked to this: defeating (killing) the Old Gods the world will be destroyed (we don't know in which way, maybe the disappearing of the Curse of Flesh would be so deadly?), so maybe defeating them we are unconsciously making their game? Only the time will answer us.

Well, now we'll wait third titan's instance - Uldum (entrance in Tanaris, there is a questchain about it, starts in the end of Uldaman). Quite interesting what will be there (plus that hole in the front door, maybe some God escaped >.> Not very big though ^^)

you can actually hear Yogg-Saron's voice with Neltharion's when he talks thru this scene, similar to the transition to phase 2 with Sara. Leads me to believe it was Yogg-Saron that influenced Neltharion into making the dragon soul

As someone who has actually done the yogg-saron fight id like to mention that in the Arthas vision, you an see arthas strangling a human, and when 'him' is mentioned a shadowy figure of an orc appears and salute arthas. my theory is that the human is none other then bolvar and the orc is Saurfang the younger, both of whom are presumed dead in the betrayal at the wrathgate.

and i'd also like to mention that all of the visions are something that yogg was involved with, too some extent yogg is probably corrupting arthas, as well as the corruption from nerz'hul

During phase 1 the adds come in intervals.

First add is at 10 seconds from the start of the encounter. The next 3 come in 20 second intervals, after those 3 the next 3 begin to spawn in 15 seconds intervals, after those 3 the rest of the guardians come in 10 second intervals.

To clarify: 10 seconds into the encounter > 30 seconds > 50 seconds > 1:10 minutes > 1:25 minutes > 1:40 minutes > 1:55 minutes > 2:05 minutes > 2:15 minutes > etc..

The Titans did not kill the Old Gods when they came back because the Olg Gods latched on Azeroth like parasites, and were attempting to consume all life in it, and created the "Curse of Flesh" to facilitate the process, weakening Azeroth's mortal races and creations of the titans.
This is most likely the "assimilation" mentioned in the Tribunal of Ages event. Because the Old Gods were now bound to Azeroth, killing them would in no doubt kill the planet as well.

Yogg-Saron's corruption in Northrend is hugely noticed. To battle the "Curse of Flesh", the Titans created the Rune dwarves and Rune Vrykul, which were immune to this curse, but Yoog was able to slightly corrupt ther minds. He's also responsible for de corruption and, because of that, destruction, of Voldrassil, Northrend's giant tree, found un Grizzly Hills.

Yogg-Saron is a reference to two different Old Gods from Lovecraft's mythology:

Yog-Sothoth, the god of time. (the similarity with the Old God's name)
Shub-Niggurath, the "Black Goat of the Woods with a Thousand Young" (similarity with the "nick", let's call it that way, follows its name)

With C'thun (The Great Cthulhu), the Greater Gods are mentioned, more gods should appear maybe,

Not sure if this is confirmed, but regarding the vision with the Lich King, the prisoner he is torturing is most likely Bolvar Fordragon (the voice greately resembles his), and apparentely a dark orc sillhoette appears in the end of the vision, hinting that "Him" is most likely Saurfang the Younger. If this is the case, then the background voice is him.
As I said it's more likely that he is refering to Arthas (or maybe even Ner'zul?) since you can hear someone say me when the lich king says him. But with the new lich king book, though I haven't read it, it seems like Arthas is the one in controll making it possible for "him"/"me" to be either Arthas or Ner'zul or (but propably not) both. But if this was the case there would have been someone who would have taken controll over them both so I don't find this very propable.

Edit: just re-read your post and realised you meant that Saurfang the younger was the one who said me. It's not impossible but I don't think this is the case. But everything's possible

there 2 major spottable things about C'thun and Yogg-Saron.

Namely, several sense organs and one internal organ.

for C'thun, there are eyes and a stomach
for Yogg, there are mouths and a brain

these are essential for an organism to live and recieve stimulus, aren't they ?

Now.
there're 5 Old Gods total. 2 are examined.
Logical speculation would be, that the 3 unrevealed Old Gods have others set of sensor organs with an internal organ.

3 remaining primal senses are hearing, smell and touch, but as we don't know what future brings as we lack the sense of forecast xD the details of unrevealed Gods can be far more different.

Major Internal organ that could be used are Heart, Lung... uhmm can't figure out the last one.. for human its kidney.. blah nvmd it.

What i'm trying to depict is that 2 revealed old gods with their organs might be a part of one corrupting uber-organism.

Time will tell.

And about the Elf discussion, I'll try to make a clear explanation:

The Night Elves (aka Kaldorei). Their race is ancient and one of the first races on Azeroth.

The Highborne (aka Quel'dorei). A compact group of Night Elves. They were some of the best magicians of Azeroth and considered themselves vastly superior to the other Night Elves.

The Naga. While the Well of Eternity was getting destroyed, Queen Azshara and many of the Highborne became the Naga with the help of an Old God.
The High Elves. The Quel'dorei who helped Tyrande and joined the forces fighting against the Legion. After the Legion was defeated, the Quel'dorei left the Night Elven lands and sailed until they reached the Eastern Kingdoms. When they found the kingdom of Quel'thalas, forgot the Night Elfish Cult of the Moon and started to revere the Sun, their appearances became as we know them today. Today there are few remaining High Elves, most of them being the ones who left Quel'thalas long before the destruction of the Sunwell and who found some other ways to feed themselves with magic (eg. the Moonwell in Stormwind is placed there to feed the High Elves who visit/live in Stormwind).

The Blood Elves (aka Sin'dorei). Blood Elves are the High Elves who became addicted to magic after the Sunwell's destruction (now, as the Sunwell was reborn by the spark of M'uru, this is not the case anymore). 90% of the High Elves became Blood Elves. The main difference between the High Elves and the Blood Elves today is that the first race is part of the Alliance and the second is part of the Horde.

The corruption of Teldrassil is not entirely to blame on any Old God. It simply did not receive the Blessing of the Dragonflights like Nordrassil did, as Neltharion had split them all apart, thus leaving the tree vulnerable to the corruption.
Corruption of Teldrassil is entirely to blame on the hubris of Arch Druid Fandral Staghelm. After the World Tree Nordrassil was destroyed at the end of the third war, he proposed to create a new world tree to restore immortality to the Night Elves.

The dragonflights chose not to have anything to do with Teldrassil due to mortal arrogance, and the corruption that occurred there was the same corruption occurring everywhere else in Azeroth...due to the aftereffects of the Burning Legion.

From a Hunter's Point of View...

This fight is currently not very pet friendly during phase 2 in the sense that sending in your pet to attack a crusher tentacle will kill it in one hit. Sending in your pet to kill a constrictor tentacle means you have less DPS on a crusher tentacle and as a result a Hunter is only doing 80% of their damage when all cloth casters are doing 100% on a crusher tentacle for ranged DPS.

However, hunter pets really shine during Phase 3 as they're immune to Yogg's Lunatic Gaze ability, so they can freely attack him the whole time. Make sure you keep your pet alive or have Heart of the Phoenix ready when phase 3 starts!

No. Actually it implies that Night Elves derive from Trolls. The Trolls and the Nerubians were the first races to have their very own Empires. While they fought each other, one group of Trolls decided to settle along the shores of the Well of Eternity. The Well influenced the group of Trolls making them more smarter, more attuned to arcane magic and also changed the physical appearance making their skin more purple, and the eyes beeing silver lined. Later they called themselves the Kaldorei (the Night Elves).
That's a theory.

Blizzard likes to make the history of WoW be as misterious as possible, so that it resembles the real history (was man created by God? evolved from monkeys?) -> (were Night Elves created by Elune? did they evolve from trolls?).

As you can see, both the (real) human and the night elf creation have a mystic theory and a scientific theory.

If you pay attention to the lore and read the quest texts, you will find quite a bit of those paradoxes. Some say Arthas still lives within the Lich King and fights Ner'zhul. Others say that both Ner'zhul and Arthas are dead and from their souls the Lich King we are fighting was born.

Some say that Gnomes evolved from Dwarfs (can't remember where I red this, in some early quest anyway). In Northrend we find out that Gnomes were created by the Titans (they must've been bored :P).

Those twists within the lore are just Blizzard's attempt to make the game more intresting, and at least for me it works ^^

Edit - Reply to Volcan: Yh, I see the irony, but in WoW magic is not such a big bad deal like in the real world. It's like some kind of science, a science who constantly evolves and shifts.
So, at least from my point of view, being evolved with the help of a incredibly strong source of magic sounds more scientific then being created by the big good shiny Godess of the Moon. ^^

It is known that hakkar was a creature who was mind controling, that is also what drove the trolls of Zul'Gurub into madness. But it was never said that he was a god, also said by the trolls on the freindly island that he was a fake, he was surposed to be the one saving the trolls from a greater evil, foretold by a prophet but the trolls on the island discovered that he was merely a fake god who was mindcontrolling the Gurubashi tribe.

That be said, no one knows where hakkar and his serpent minions came from but, as mentioned earlier in the comments, the old gods where older than most races on azeroth and where banished by the titans, and c'thun and another old god the olny ones who escaped the crusade of the titans. thus they would not openly expose them self with the conviction that they could not be harmed. Now Hakkar and his serpent minions could very well be of the same concept as the nagas and the night elves just with trolls instead and another one of the old god, but hakkar is NOT one of the old gods.

The count is more like

Known: C'thun(escaped the Crusade of the titans but was left in tanaris deadly injured where he corrupted the bugs and gave them knowlege and inteligence and inreturn threated him as a the god he was). Yogg'saron(was imprisoned by the crusade of the titans in ulduar, a fortress built for the sole purpose to keep him locked away for eternity, but the God somehow corrupted the gaurdians of ulduar creating a giant army to help him with his evil plans.)

Unknown: There was 3 other old gods(could have been alot more but we only know of the 5)
One is said to be imprisoned in the emerald dream by the gaurdians of cenarious and the druids who after 10 of thousands of years forgot what the emerald dream was for in the first place, there fore some how the emerald dream was also corrupted, becoming a place of destrucktion and horror in stead of life and peace as it was before)
Another is said to be imprisoned/hiding in the malestrom where it mutated a group of night elves into the nagas as we know them today, very little is known of this beast other than that the nagas who stayed in the depths of the malestrom is said to still be worshipping him)
The last one there is very limited information on but there are some hints that he might be hiding in grim'batol, corrupting neltharion, or being imprisoned in Uldum, and last but not least be the dead monster in darkshore in the master's glaive. it is unknown where the 5th old god is but it very likely that this part of the lore will be continued.

now for finishing there is alot of lore to build on about the 5 gods who untill now where thought to be dead, but with the discovering of Yogg'saron they might still be arround hiding in the world of azeroth. and it is very likely that we are soon to see more of the 5 gods if it's in wow or WC4 or something like that doesn't matter. point is we haven't heard the last of the last 5 old gods.

Just a comment on the above regarding the creature at the Master's Glaive:

Some Warcraft reference material identifies the creature as a dead 'Forgotten One', so it might just be one of the Old God's servants rather than one of the big guys.

Also, something transformed the ancient night elves into the naga, and that something is likely an Old God located underneath the Maelstrom, in the ocean between Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms.

The bones you see there are the remains of an Old God, for it was Sargaras who killed him and became corrupt from the energy that came free. This is also why the Old Gods must not die. Entire Azeroth exists because of the existance of the Old Gods. Thus no Old Gods: No Azeroth.

It was Queen Azshara who made them and herself Naga.
From wowwiki.com: When the black waters of the Well of Eternity poured into the palace, she created a magical shield that would protect her and the remaining Highborne from drowning.

Someone mentioned that Yogg-Saron could be responsible for the assassination of king Llane by driving Garona mad. I looked in The Last Guardian and found this "Let me show you my world, Garona," said Medivh. "Let me drive my own divisions and doubts into you. You'll never know who you serve and why. You'll never find your peace." This was done when Khadgar and Garona went to kill the Sargeras possessed Medivh. It is my belief that this lead to Garona following Gul'Dans orders again which would lead to her killing King Llane. Now as someone else said Sargeras could have been corrupted by Yogg-Saron, who then possessed Medivh, who then corrupted/confused Garona. So maybe Yoggy did infact end up killing Llane in some wierd way. But who can say for sure.

It has just occured to me that while Garona was confused due to what Medivh did to her Yogg could have more easily influenced her into killing the King. What the Old God would gain from this is unkown, to me atleast.

In WC3 RoC, in the Human Campaign, during the Culling of Stratholme, something happened to Arthas. Quote from WoWWiki: "Something snapped in Arthas that day, his inability to stop the plague sent him down the cold lonely road he would soon follow." And at the end, he wonders deep in Northrend and stayed there for some time, being "driven mad by some voice in his mind". Another quote from WoWWiki: "Slaying the dreadlord, Arthas fled into the frozen north, leaving his troops to fend for themselves. Arthas soon lost the last remnants of sanity." It could be only the Lich King but he couldnt have wispered him during the Culling. So with that in mind, maybe Yogg-Saron really did all that and spiced up the lore.

I noticed somthing in general Vezax's room, there's windows with picture on them.
As i got closer i noticed that those picture had 1 big monster on them, with tentacles and many eye's.
These windows probebly refer all the old gods.
Some of these windows are broken so mabye those broken windows means those Old Gods are dead.
There's also some with an ocean on so mabye that shows the location to some of them.

I dont know if this is relevant to the old gods.

-The Trolls become Night Elves,wich became Highboune,wich had 2 followers:Naga and High Elves(Blood Elves)
The Nerubians became Faceless ones and Forgotten Gods.

-Yogg-Saron is responsible for Garona's faith,but not responsible for Deathwing.Deathwing went mad after being exposed to Sargeras's Taint in time of his summoning.Sargeras and Deathwing are the only ones who can totally finish off a Old God(I'd Wish that Deathwing could be allied with us,not against us).

-And the 5 Old Gods's location:Shiltidus,Storm Peaks,Maelstorm(100% chance),Grim Batol(25% chance) and The Emerald Dream ( 100000000% chance)

-Deathwing will be a boss in Grim Batol,with a high chance being the last and hardest of the bosses in the game,and after that,only 2 Dragon Aspects will remain sane: Alexstrasza and Nozdromu,because Ysera will go bye-bye because of the Nightmare.

-Teldrasill was corrupted because of the Nightmare...being the second World Tree,and in a future patch,Malfurion will come out of Moonglade...

-The Elemental Lords were only theoretically the Old Gods's Generals.

-New Expansions(Only Hope):
1:The Third Land (Pandaren)
2:The Emerald Dream
3:The Maelstorm
4:The Space...for the Titans.

Seems that we'll wait a long time to see a Titan...

If you have to tank on P1, do your self a favour and turn the particle density up a notch. Going from minimum to the middle made the Clouds apear twice as big(!) and they became a lot brighter thus where extremely easy to see and follow.

Honestly, I can't imagine how we managed it last week with me being such a liability other than dumb luck.

I was under the impression that the explanation for why they didn't destroy the Old Gods was still that to do so would destroy Azeroth. I might not be up-to-date on all the new retcons since Wrath came out, but it was my understanding that the Old Gods were still the original "Gods" of primordial Azeroth, lording over their elemental slaves/creations in an endless cycle of warfare and butchery, and that the Titans came along, bribed/threatened/argued the elemental Lords into working with them, defeated and imprisoned the Old Gods because, as the makers of Azeroth, destroying them would destroy the planet, restricted their initial creations, designed primarily as foot soldiers in the Old God war, like the Vyrkul, giants, stormborn and forstborn to Northrend, appointed the Half-Titan Wardens, and then moved on. The curse of flesh, as seen in the Vyrkul cut scenes revealed in the Alliance quest lines of Howling Fjord, came after the Titans had already left, but before Loken's corruption became obvious and so is likely the result of some Old One plot to escape imprisonment, as was, in all likelihood, the premature awakening of the Earthen from their stasis in the vaults under Ironforge, Ulduman, and perhaps Gnomeregan.

The life forms that have been clearly stated to be Titan born so far are the Dwarves, Tauren, humans, and gnomes. I'm not aware of any source that has definitively stated whether or not the Titans created the Trolls, Murlocs, Nerubians/Silithids, or other Beastmen species like the Harpies(though this could be the result of my own ignorance) so it may be that these were originally created by the Old Gods as playthings or soldiers in their war against the Titans and then later modified by the Titans after their victory, (as the Gorlocs claim to have been), or, like the Centaurs, they could be later creations of the Elemental Lords after the Titans left and they began to run riot again. The strong traditions of worship towards the Old God and the Elemental Lords seen in the Nerubian/Silithid species and the numerous Troll tribes would tend to bare this out. One can assume that the Troggs may be a reverse of this; Titan-made dwarves corrupted by the Old Gods.

first of all the titans and the old gods aren't equal in power, its just that the old gods infected azeroth so much that, if the titans destroyed them, they would destroy azeroth
second: teldrassil was corrupted becouse the night elves grew it to become immortal again and didn't get the dragons blessings
third:naga are fallen highbourne that were turned to amphibians by the maelstrom old god, or something
fourth: why the hell would there be and old god underneath the maelstrom? it was made by the explosion of the well of eternity!and i doubt an old god was hiding underneath there

fifth: there is no fifth statement , i just wana make it 5 >.<

A very important note for phase 1 is that totems can activate the green clouds floating around the room and thus spawn a very very high amount of Guardians which most likely will just wipe your raid again and again due to the heavy amount of AoE suddenly on your raid... Don't use totems before Phase 2... and no, it wasn't anybody who was cloud jumping which was the cause of our first 10 wipes... must reroll a blacksmith soon. Good money to be made when there's new raid instances!

C'thun / Yogg'Saron are accounted for.

C'thun was left for dead, there's an 'Old Lord' physically "dead" in Darkshore.. (but may exist within the Emerald Dream?)

Three Old Gods were imprisoned: Yogg'Saron, whatver was held within Uldum (? - something seems to have broken out, and is notated by a blue post according to a Wowwiki article on Uldum), and an Old God is perhaps thought to have corrupted Neltharion, but is no longer present in Grim Batol (there are several zones in Kalimdor/Azeroth that have no names - bear that in mind).

Oh, a notation on the Grim Batol bit: notice the coin fished from the fountain in Dalaran that refers to the prisoners of Grim Batol: prisoner could mean Neltharion, the Old God, or those under his influence?

5. Neltharion was likely driven mad by one of the Old Gods. Whether this was one we know about or not is unknown. Considering he now dwells deep below Grim Batol in caverns unknown by the dwarves, he could be having tea and crumpets with that Old God as we speak.

Unlikely. Neltharion was corrupted by a "chorus" of evil voices. His corruption being a vision in the encounter makes it seem as if either

A. Yogg-Saron had a hand in Neltharion's corruption, or
B. Yogg-Saron was the sole Old God corrupting Neltharion (since Yogg-Saron has so many mouths, and is the 'fiend of a thousand faces'.)

Just to elaborate on Yogg-Saron's vision and what, if anything, he had to do with Deathwing's corruption.

Now that WoW: Cataclysm has been announced and we know that Deathwing will be the primary antagonist, I think we can finally rule out that Yogg-Saron was the Old God responsible for his corruption. As we are slowly learning more about Deathwing, it is becoming firmly established that whatever has corrupted him lies deep within the earth, and that it was Neltharion's connection to the deep places of the world that made him particularly vulnerable. Yogg-Saron has been trapped in Ulduar since the War with the Titans, quite literally placed in the "roof of the world." If Neltharion dwells within the deep places of Azeroth, Yogg-Saron would hardly be qualified to be that corrupting force. After all, for a being as powerful as Neltharion, it would have taken very close proximity to drive him so completely mad. What this suggests quite simply is that this Old God resides in or below Deepholm. I'm sure as time goes on we will learn more about who, or what, this creature is.

Now, as for Yogg-Saron's visions. It is clear to me now that these visions are not showing events Yogg-Saron directly influenced. After all, there is absolutely no evidence Yogg-Saron has anything to do with the Lich King, and that if anything the two are enemies. So why the vision of the Lich King? Garona Halforcen is now a character in the comic books, and nowhere in there has it been suggested that she has received any whisperings from any Old Gods. So why the vision of her assassination of King Llane? Simple. They are simply acts of evil and/or treachery, designed to try and corrupt the player by showing the evils of the world. Just like how in movies people are brainwashed by being shown horrific scenes to bring out their violent nature. Remember folks, Yogg-Saron is not attempting to destroy the player, it is attempting to 'corrupt' them; to destroy their sanity.

So can we put to bed the "Yogg-Saron corrupted Neltharion" theories and accept that a new Old God is likely the driving force behind the events to come in Cataclysm?

after you beat the tribunal of ages, a boss in halls of stone, you choose to either skip the cut scene or listen, most people skip it, but i chose to listen, apparently, the titans created all things in a metal form, then came along the old gods, who made the "curse of flesh" and things devolved from metal, to stone, to skin. and the reason why the titans can't kill them is because, the curse is linked to the old gods in some way and, if they all die, the hosts of the curse die too. which pretty much means, if us loot crazy players go on killing the gods and kill them all, then bye-bye everybody. this also explains the earthen and humans, who supposedly devovled from the vrykul. the dwarves, came from the earthen. so, please, leave at least one old god alive if you actually want to use some of that epic loot :)

If your fighting Yogg Saron: Here's how the Keepers are helpful during the YS fight.

Mimiron: Speed of Invention — Increases all damage done by 10% and movement speed by 20%. Increases player size by 10%.
Destabilization Matrix — Mimiron channels a beam of titan energy that destabilizes the molecular structure of certain Saronite based creatures, reducing attack speed by 100% and casting speed by 300%. Cast on all tentacles outside in the encounter.
Freya: Resilience of Nature — Increases all damage done by 10% and healing received from all sources by 20%. Increases player size by 10%.
Sanity Well — Freya conjures a Sanity Well that regenerates the Sanity of anyone who stands within it. Two of these green beams will be up the entire fight at the sides of the room.
Thorim: Fury of the Storm — Increases all damage done by 10% and total health by 20%. Increases player size by 10%.
Titanic Storm — Thorim channels a storm of titan energy that periodically strikes at enemy targets with bolts of lightning strong enough to destroy weakened immortal creatures. Without Thorim the Immortal Guardians in phase 3 are unkillable.
Hodir: Fortitude of Frost — Increases damage done by 10% and reduces damage taken from all sources by 20%. Increases player size by 10%.
Hodir's Protective Gaze — Allows Hodir to save a friendly target who sustains fatal damage by encasing them in a nearly impenetrable block of ice for 10 seconds. Hodir must rest after performing this action.

For three keepers: Leave Mimiron out. The tentacles will be easy to kill, if you have a good group.
Two keepers: Hodir. His ice block is a trump card. If a tank is dead, let the off tank pick up add/YS.
One: Freya. Thorim is needed if you want to do 1 Keeper. As said, without him, the Immortal guadians are unkillable. Just don't look at Lunatic Gaze.
Zero: Without Thorim, the Immortal Guardians are unkillable. Don't look at Lunatic Gaze, and just like P2 in Kel'Thuzad, pick up the Immortal Guardians. Straightforward fight. Also, if you have 3 Keepers or less, YS will cast Bellowing Roar, which gives a healer a chance to throw the fragments into his maw, reforging the Legendary Hammer.

Garona was corrupted by Sargeras in the body of Medivh, driving her mad. Unless Sargeras has any major ties with Yogg-Saron, I doubt that Yogg is responsible for the assassination of King Llane. And I don't think that Yogg has any ties with Sargeras, as Sargeras is a titan who actually helped defeating the Old Gods and was later corrupted by the Nath'rezim.

First, you didn't explain the vision of the Lich King. And I can tell you as a point of fact that Yogg-Saron has nothing to do with the Lich King. Your failure to explain that renders your points about the other visions null and void..however, I'll bite.

Read "The Last Guardian"...please. You wouldn't make statements like that if you actually knew any lore. Wrong. Deathwing was already corrupted when he created the Demon Soul. It was his intention all along to use it against his fellow Aspects..it was not the beginning of his descent, but rather the end.

His craziness and evil was caused by the Old Gods. He's not that on his own accord. Now yes, he's probably fallen off the deep end by now, but he is most certainly working toward an end goal. Given that he opened the way into the Four Elemental Planes which contain the servants of the Old Gods, he seems to still be working toward the Old Gods' ultimate goal: chaos. And really...do you honestly believe Blizzard isn't going to introduce another Old God in Cataclysm? They introduced Yogg Saron in spite of the fact he has absolutely nothing to do with the Lich King (the subject and namesake of the expansion), and yet you think they'll leave the Old Gods on the sidelines for an expansion about something they're actually intricately tied to? Please. This is Blizzard we're talking about. Any and all figures capable of being raid bosses WILL be raid bosses.

Your utter lack of knowledge about lore is surprising considering your tone. You attack other people for not having a clue, and yet persist on a subject of which you obviously know little about. Well, WOTLK bring a bit of explanations:

Humans are somehow "cursed" vrykuls - About 15 000 years agon some of the vrykul children were born "small and weak". Even if king Ymiron ordered to kill them, some mothers hide them and protected.

Dwarves and gnomes are creations of Titans cursed with "curse of flesh". Dvarves (and Troggs) were some sort of earth elementals (earthen) in service of Thorim, gnomes were machines made by Mimiron.

Case of elves is a bit unique since they connection to Elune. But who really is she? There are no other "true gods" in WoW universe: Holy Light and Earthmother have no personifications... but there are voodoo loas worshipped by trolls. They are mostly animals, but in rare cases (Zanza the restless for example) powerful leader can be turned into god-like character. Maybe the same happened with elves and Elune? Maybe she was powerful and respected enough during her lifetime as troll that she became worshipped after her death and strong enough to change a tribe of trolls into something different?

Most of the info here is lore and speculation on other old gods.

Could we get some more boss fight tactics or personal accounts? I saw a bit about hunter pets, and tentacle kill orders ( both useful ), but honestly, most of the 150+ comments are not very helpful for killing this guy.

Unless the only way to do things is the way Wowhead outlines the abilities, which tells what do do, and why you have to do it, but not much on how/when/who should.

I am interested in knowing if my guild jumping into ICC/ToGC will help much ( ie. will better gear make this cake ). We are a pretty relaxed bunch of raiders, it takes us 2 nights to clear up to the last 2 boss's here, and I know we will need all the help we can get in this last one.

10 man raid btw.

The Trolls and the Nerubians were the first races to have their very own Empires
Just to nitpick, this isn't quite right. The Nerubians only became Nerubians after splitting from the Aqir (the remaining Aqir becoming the Qiraji). The Amani and Gurubashi troll nations essentially united to fight the Aqir, before resuming their usual in-fighting once the Aqir had split off towards the North (Nerubians) and south (Qiraji).

If you can call the Dragon civilisation an empire, it's certainly got a claim to be the oldest. Civilisations after that would have to list Azj'Aqir and the Trolls first.

You mixed up a little the "loss of Host" was refered in killing the Necrophotonic Parasit also known as "Curse of Flesh" that the Eathen got, it is rumored that the parasite was created by the Old god: Yogg-Saron but the old gods arent the parasite they created it in order to leave Azeroth defenceless, by making it's first protectors (and Shapers) the Eathen vulnerable, how? the parasite turned on their skin meaking them weak, that's how the Dwarves were created, they are the earthen inflicted by the curse of Flesh, also the name of the curse is a reference to it's purpose, what's the dwarven skin made of now? Flesh, exactly. So the Old gods plan of retaking Azeroth were going preety well, until the Titans arrived and fixed everything again, they discovered the Earthen could not be healed as the death of the parasite would mean on their loss (loss of host) and so they remuved the parasite, but the curse remained, and the dwarves were born, that's why the dwarves racial is "rocky skin", it's the remnants of their ansestors the earthen, just as the humans ansestors were the Vrykul, then again cursed and weakened to become humans (the riddle in that is that even when you weaken the body the spirit remains, or that's what i think =P) so we could say that Blizz decided to go looking for the sasquach in northrend, and i don't mean the thing i mean the lost links of the only races which way they came to be was never written in the books implemented in the game. Going back to the Old god's plan, the titans removed the parasite and implemented new protectors: the Drag. Aspects, the storgiants, the watchers, the new earthen, Loken, Aesir and Vanir, etc. Yogg then took advantage and took the mind of the first in command, Loken, as the great machine (Ulduar itself) couldn't be mind controlled in the absence of a mind of it's own, so he used Loken to free him, take over Ulduar, leave Azeroth defenceless and taking over it's armies,with trichery and mind controll, from there "Ulduar: Defiance"

Ummm let me order those for you... "Trolls predated titans" ummm nope this is wrong, trolls where born long after the Old Gods were vanished and their Generals (Elemental Lords) exiled to the elemental plane, it was a peaceful begining.

"Titans came to Azeroth, fought the old gods and imprisoned them" right, that's the beggining... "Dumped the Well of Eternity in the middle of Azeroth" as it follows... "which some Dark Trolls found and started worshipping. Those that didn't give in to the "corruption" are the few remaining Dark Trolls, which aren't seen in WoW for some reason." ummm right at the first frace, but let me add "dark" trolls weren't really "dark" they were a kind of exiled clan that didn't want to be with the other's they are kind of "the trolls who gave up to the Voodoo" also i wouldn't say "corruption, it's more like evolution. As it goes: Anyway, Arcane Magic (and its spinoff, Fel Magic) basically chained an INSANE amount of evolution over twenty-thousand years. Dark Troll -> Night Elf -> Highborne Elf -> High Elf ->
Blood Elf -> Wretched/Felblood Elf Then kind of meanwhile this was going on:Old Gods corrupted Stone Vrykul, Earthen, Giants and Mechagnomes into Flesh Vrykul (which they then turned into Humans), Dwarves, Storm Giants, and Mechagnomes to "better facilitate assimilation". Basically Stone creatures couldn't be MC'd, but Flesh ones could. In a matter of fact they used the Necrophotonic parasite (alias: Curse of Flesh, probably made just by Yogg without the help of the other's as he was the nearest and also the one who could find it more "useful") to not to MC cuz your statement above about that is wrong, if it was true then Loken and Thorim coul not be MC'd as they are STONE watchers, it was to "better asimilate" let's say that giants made out of stone were like the worst nightmare of the old gods and fleshy little brats could be smite and eaten preety easier and instead of bringing lot's of atention to them by just making a total siege to the stony guys they could just kill them easily and stealthier. Anyways the Titans found out about the curse of flesh: Yada, Yada, Yada....
built the five Watchers and Loken, defeated the great proto-wyrm Galakrond (possible a servant of the old gods?), made the 5 Dragonflights out of his ribcage (yet he seems to have them all in Dragonflight...), yep you also forgot about the "reforging the earthen" thingy, so well Yogg MC'd Loken - Took controll of the earthen and Ulduar's defences - set the two factions (Aesir and Vanir) against each other leaving Ulduar completly defenceless - Freed himself - <bunch of other thing happened> - Brann found out - Kirin Tor siege Ulduar and take credit for defeating Yogg and saving Azeroth on your Raids face, and here we are...

i just dont get 1 thing : why god of death? why not god of maddness or god of corruption? maybe god of chaos......but god of DEATH? It kinda.....doesnt go.....he has moves more that affect your mind and some tricks to confuse the raid rather than insane damage moves or instand killing moves(atleast thats my image of a death god). "maddness will consume you" is that what a death god sais instead of "your death shall be inevitable" or something like that?

The only boss i can think of as an execption to the rule is Onyxia. While you do recieve her head as a quest reward, she's being brought back for the 5th Wow Anniversary. I think she is classed as dead Lore-wise though.

She was technically killed in the WoW comic by the two seperate aspects of Varian Wrynn (immediately prior to the re-joining of the two disparate halves of his personality). While the others living status may be up in the air (depending on the in-game or out-of-game effect on other lore, such as The Lich King's death affecting the two plagelands zones), Onyxia is most likely definitely dead lore-wise.

Yogg-Saron (or C'Thun, but most likely Yogg-Saron), or a statue of his, can be found at Darkshore. Enter the Shore from Ashenvale, and keep looking left (map looking). It's made by white marble, and has some humanoids around it. Notable is that a scythe, probably the Master's Scythe, as called, is stuck in one of his tentacles.

I know that Yogg-Saron is supposedly based on Yogg-Sothoth, from H.P Lovecraft's books, but could it also be a reference to the "Voice in the Darkness" from Starcraft?

Similair things:

-The Voice is a Void-based entity. It can "convert" other beings.
- Yogg-Saron is able to mess with peoples heads, and make them go mad/join his side, right?

-When a being is converted, their eyes and mouth expel a black liquid
- Yogg-Saron secretes a liquid that goes by the name "Saronite", and "Black Blood of Yogg-Saron."

Yogg-Saron, and the Voice in the Darkness are both imprisoned beneath the ground, the Voice by the Xel'Naga, and Yogg-Saron by the Titans. Both of these are extremely powererful beings.

Yogg-Saron and the Voice both refer to themselves as gods.

He's a much more interesting character, and obviously more powerful.

I didn't care about some spoilt brat of a prince - possessed by some dead shaman.

The anti-climactic ending didn't help either... "There must always be a lich king" was a slap in the face.

Regarding the old gods.... In cataclysm there will be a new old god called n'zath, it is belived he is responsible for the emerald nightmare, and could very well the the same old god who corrupted deathwing, although this has not been proven yet

Just want to say that as of Cata 4.0, this fight is still 100% coordination and 0% having OP hit points.

In P1, we had ranged DPS, healers, and melee stay in an outside group that dodged clouds. Unfortunately, not everyone knows how to move, so with 1 keeper up (we chose thorim) sometimes we would get extra adds. More than 20 adds will easily wipe up the raid, as the tanks in the middle can't see where clouds are, and DPS can't DPS them down either.

In P2, we left more tentacles up than we should have, generally crusher and corruptor are OK to leave up as long as no one is near them. Constrictors are 2 shotted, and always spawn near the group of raiders stacked up. Constrictor>Corruptor>Crusher. Crusher tentacles barely do anything, except for their debuff, they do minimal damage and can be ignored. Corruptors put out many debuffs and THEY CAN ALL BE DISPELLED. Make sure that dispels happen. For the portals, we never could get it quite right, because DBM would usually screw up the timer. What i do have to say however, is that YOU HAVE TO GET OUT OF THE PORTALS WHEN THERE IS AROUND 10 SECONDS LEFT. To exit the portals, there is a small portal in the back. But it is very far away from the actual entrance to the brain room, and if by the 10 second mark, you are not already heading towards it, you won't have enough time to get out, and you will probably wipe the raid.

P3 is a 100% burn phase. Generally we could ignore the guardians, because Yogg-Saron had around 2 million health left. With 6 level 85 DPS, that goes down really quick, regardless of healing from the guardians.

NOTE: Kill tentacles before entering the portals. If the tentacles are not dead by the time the portals are spawned, you might get 2 people inside, but debuffs will slow you down tremendously.

Inside the brain room, there will be skulls everywhere, and it is impossible to be facing one direction that is opposite of all of them. Just take out your tentacle, because the brain will quickly disappear. Shadowpriest and warlock are perfect for the brain room, because they can do damage and walk towards the end portal at the same time. As for portals, I had one person clear each side, and if we got more than 2 people in, had the other two go straight for the middle. The mobs inside have 8k health each, but make sure you don't bypass them. If even one is up with 100 health, you can't get inside the brain room. If you are alone in the brain room, you are technically insane. It is nearly impossible to take out all of the mobs, then get to the portal in time.

The brain itself has around 1300k health, but it takes around 600% more damage than Yogg-Saron will outside. IN OTHER WORDS: Doing 100k to the brain is around 2 million outside. Getting Yogg-Saron to 3 million (from 10 mil) triggers P3. Generally we could get to P3 in two shots, depending on how many we got in the brain room.

BEST COMP FOR PORTALS: Have a DK DnD some of the adds, especially if you get in the room with adds bunched up. Heart Strike is insane here because it will take out an entire bunch of adds.

DEMO LOCKS: Pop Demo and Hellfire. Make sure that your adds die though.

Warrior: cleave and intercept are great, because you can take out multiple mobs at a time. Hit one, then cleave the other two (if you get in that room).

The worst room is definately the one under wyrmrest, because you can't AoE any of them.

3. An Old God appears to be responsible for the Nightmare affecting the Emerald Dream.
4. An Old God is presumed to have allied with the Naga, who gave them their current appearance. He is likely located within the Maelstrom.
5. Neltharion was likely driven mad by one of the Old Gods. Whether this was one we know about or not is unknown. Considering he now dwells deep below Grim Batol in caverns unknown by the dwarves, he could be having tea and crumpets with that Old God as we speak.

If its anything like the lore of H.P. Lovecraft its unlikely any of the Old Gods ever actually die, including the supposedly dead C'thun. Their mortal representations, like Sargeras mortal body, can die but their essence persist and can simply reform at a later point.

Possible evidence to this is that the Titans imprisoned the Old Gods instead of destroying them, perhaps because a final destruction was impossible and incarceration was the only means of preventing them running amok.

That being said since the Titans smacked down the Old Gods millennium ago and their just now showing their tentacles again, its possible it takes an Old God a substantial time to return or regain enough power after a substantial defeat to be a threat.

Solo'd this within a few tries as a blood DK in 382 ilvl dps gear.

Only frustrating part of the fight is bad tentacle spawns, if they're relatively together then you can plow through them without much trouble. Drop a DnD right before the tentacles spawn and blood boil your way out of the one that whips you around. Make sure you get in the brain portal as soon as it spawns. You need to push the brain into phase 3 in one portal length.

In phase 3, bring the guardians next to remaining tentacles and cleave them down with heart strike, same goes for when you are on yogg himself and he's doing his lunatic gaze. This way you lose no sanity and still keep steadily bringing yogg down.

Such an intense fight. My guild did that Realm first on Deepholm-EU. We did around 100 pulls and only then ppl began understand this encounter.

Doesn't seem even potentially soloable on 25. Sara spams you with Psychosis, each hit removing 12% sanity. All keepers, no keepers, doesn't matter - you just get MC'd within seconds.

Tactic:
This fight requires good EQ, because of the phase 3.
P1: Sara cannot be attacked directly. The only way to damage her is the AoE damage from dying Guardians of Yogg-Saron. In order to end the phase, you have to kill 8 Guardians close to Sara. You can speed up the appearance of adds by touching green-yellow clouds. Some dmg can be avoided by using Twilight Ward.
P2: In this phase, you will need a bit of luck. Quickly kill any remaining Guardians from phase 1. Your Sanity will drop to about 30. Before the appearance of portals to the Mind's Eye, you'll have to deal with two waves of tentacles. The first wave will consist of Constrictor Tentacle (/tar macro is useful here), Corruptor Tentacle and Crusher Tentacle. The second wave will consist of Constrictor Tentacle and Corruptor Tentacle. Corruptor Tentacle is a priority. If it manages to cast Black Plague (24sec debuff, which periodically stuns for 2sec), you probably wipe it. Before the appearance of portals, all tentacles must be destroyed. Remember to avoid the green beams. After using the portal, your task will be to put Corruption on every neutral NPC while not facing Laughing Skull. Your minion has to be close to you, when going through the portal, otherwise it will not pass through it. Then you have to destroy Brain of Yogg-Saron, before it finishes Induce Madness cast. In addition, you need 1000 Demonic Fury for phase 3, so you have to be very fast in this realm.
P3: Nuke phase. Go to the back of the Boss and let your minion to tank adds. When Lunatic Gaze is casts, you have to turn away from the Boss. Watch out for Sanity, because if it drops to 0, you will become insane. Pop up all offensive cooldowns and pray that you do not become a victim of Black Plague. Yogg-Saron must die before Immortal Guardians will start to heal. Good Luck and Have Fun!

Well, after spending a week going thru Ulduar, I've finally managed to solo Yogg-Saron. As this was my 1st time thru Ulduar ever, I used all 4 keepers on Yogg-Saron. Took 9 wipes but I finally made it. Many thanks to all the posters below as their info was invaluable.

Re-gemmed most of my stamina gems to strength. Glyph of Harsh Words enabled so I could use Word of Glory offensively - used this through-out all of Ulduar as it gave me a 40yrd range attack.

Only bosses I couldn't solo were Thorim due to mechanics and Mimiron as I just couldn't get all 3 parts down within the 10sec limit and Algalon the Observer. This is definately harder to solo than ICC 10 - that was a cake-walk compared to this.

Server reset tonight so hopefully get my final Sigil of Wisdom for my sword and then it's Ulduar 25 *gulp*

I just finished two-manning 25 man zero-light Yogg as a Protection Warrior along with a Fury Warrior friend. There's only one thing to say: RNG!

This took a lot of patience and coordination between us due to the fact that after Yogg appears in phase 2, any number of things can go wrong and wipe you. We always stacked in the same spot as a Constrictor Tentacle would immediately spawn when Yogg came out. We always stayed together due to Brain Link. We prioritized Constrictor > Crusher > Corrupter simply due to the fact that a lot of the Corrupter Tentacle's abilities will miss you, but you'll still be affected by debuffs regardless. Constrictor's had to be taken down asap for obvious reasons and Crushers can really hinder your dps if you ignore them too long. It's a pretty complicated strategy to type out chronologically, so I'll just give some bullet points for phase 2:

• Always move together; never split due to Brain Link.
• Brain Link will be dangerous past 20 yards and Malady of the Mind will spread if players are within 10 yards of one another. Therefore, when you see Malady affecting your friend, get about 15 yards away and it won't jump (we did /range 10 to help with this if you use DBM).
• Don't be tempted to run across the room to DPS a tentacle. Any number of bad things can happen and it's better to wait until phase 3 to clean them up. Manage the area you picked and deal with it.
• Right as the portals come up someone will get constricted. Break him out before you enter.
• Warriors: We agreed on how we were leaping and charging things as to not get separated and have Brain Link drain our sanity, so make sure if you are doing something similar to have that cleared up.

This strategy is also dependent on a quick brain phase inside. Our fury was able to dps the brain down to 30% with as little as 25 seconds remaining on the Induce Madness cast, and I'd help by shattering and dropping my Skull Banner with sunders of course. We decided for him to NOT use any 3 minute CD's in order to burn Yogg in phase 3 better which is why we needed a bit more time on the cast. Here are some things to keep in mind in the three possible rooms you can get:

• Stormwind is your best bet and is fairly easy to avoid Lunatic Gaze from the skulls.
• Icecrown is decent as well but the middle group of tentacles can be nearly impossible to avoid skulls.
• Wyrmrest can be the hardest due to skulls but we have seen fast clears when RNG is good.
• The first attack made on a tentacle simply reveals them. You can do 23958723 damage as your first attack and all it does is unmasks the tentacle; the second attack is what counts. Each Influence Tentacle only has about 50k life each.
• We decided that I would take care of the majority of tentacles while my Fury friend would be in position to get immediate dps in on the brain. Sometimes I would do all the work myself depending on his sanity level; key is to communicate.

In phase 3, we would clean up any tentacles from phase 2 before we would dps Yogg. I would get aggro on the Immortal Guardians and tank him about 25-30 yards away from the boss to prevent him from healing. The internal cooldown to Yogg-Saron's Lunatic Gaze is 10 seconds. DO NOT get greedy and face him past this timer! Unless you got extremely lucky and kept a ton of sanity, this isn't recommended. My second wind healing in addition with T15 2 piece would keep aggro off my friend for the most part, but keep an eye to taunt and even use Mocking Banner if necessary.

The fury warrior spec'd into Vigilance as an external CD on me. I spec'd into Disrupting Shout to interrupt Drain Life and glyphed into Rude Interruption for the 6% damage to help keep the Immortals' health pool down. I would time my dps cooldowns and defensives for Empowering Shadows. Second Wind healing should get you by as long as your are being smart with defensive cooldowns. I would re-position myself due to Immortals attacking me from behind right after a Lunatic Gaze cast.

With all that said, RNG will kill you. A lot. You will have to go into brain rooms with 2 sanity. Sometimes you'll go insane before then. Your friend will get constricted and you'll be affected with Malady + a stun with Brain Link = GG. Phase 2 is the true hump. Once you can get through that, it's more straight forward.

Why did we 2 man it? For the challenge! And Mimiron's Head, which I already have but after beating our heads on this for 3 hours it actually dropped for my friend our first time and we'll never have to do it ever again!

Easily soloable with Freya out to help with Insanity, one thing I noticed on my first venture here was that if you do not take care of the tentacles you WILL get aggrivated and proabably die..or either be too slow to make it into the portal.

Run out of Freyas lightbeam when @ full sanity and take care of the tentacles, kill brain ? profit.

I'd also like to allude that empowering shadows on a Faceless hits me in Defensive stance for about 35k..so just about enough to eat through Second Wind. For rogues and other squish classes I'd suggest you burst him the second you destroy his brain.

Soloable as a very well geared prot pala (540+ but less is possible, on a scale dependent on the RNG you experience in the fight).

For those unable to be in such gear, fear not, as it's also possible with a small group of 2 or 3 people -- 1 tank and 1-2 DPS. And here is how: -

Phase 1
Pretty easy, trigger some clouds and burn the adds on top of Sara. You want to end this phase with having all adds dead or just 1 alive that you kill before the tentacles start spawning.

Phase 2
This is where the real fun begins. I STRONGLY recommend you bring along a mage, a paladin and/or a feral DPS (symbiosis) for immunity abilities on the entire party. Why? Because Sara's chain-casted Psychosis beam, which depletes 12 sanity is programmed to stop on a target when it falls below 30 sanity; however, there is some delay in recognizing this change and determining that a character is no longer meant to be a valid target. Using an immunity when you drop below 30 sanity will ensure she targets other people, allowing you to enter the portals with as much sanity as possible.

Now, regarding the tentacles. You should aim to kill as many Corruptors (600k that chain-cast debuffs on people) and interrupt Apathy and Black Plague (the rest are not important), especially Apathy since it slows you for 20 seconds by 60% and only dispellable by magic/immunity.

Additionally, Constrictor tentacles which spawn every 15-20 seconds or so, should be DPSed down instantly (100k => paper). You should not need to kill Crusher tentacles but if all other tentacles are dead, you may as well. Tentacles will keep spawning until phase 3 so just try to stay on top of them as best you can.

For this phase you must also stay as a group, especially important for the Brain Link. When someone gets feared from Malady of the Mind, move away from them but stay in the Brain Link range too. I noticed that this fear usually only goes out once when I 2-man it; the mechanic *might* be the same for 3-man but I've not tested that much. So be aware of it.

After 1 minute into phase 2, portals open (3 at each side, 1 at the room entrance side). A Constrictor tentacle will spawn at this time, so BEFORE entering, free the gripped person and also make SURE to hit a Crusher tentacle just before the last person enters a portal. That way you will lose one of the -20% damage debuffs, which will help you clear the adds in the brain room quicker.

Portal Phase
Inside the brain room, split up and DPS the adds down as fast as possible. It's also VERY important that you face away from the purple skulls while moving around and DPSing because you cannot afford to lose sanity since you don't have much to work with.

Once the adds are dead, nuke the brain. Decently geared people shouldn't need to use CDs but don't hesitate to do so if you're not sure you'll make it. Once the brain hits 30%, phase 3 begins.

Special note: if you have a ton of DPS, one can exit early and clear up any remaining tentacles before bringing the brain to 30% since they will be stunned until that point.

Phase 3
Begin the phase by going around the room and clearing all the tentacles as fast as possible. Kill the Corruptors first then the Crushers. Stun them and interrupt as many casts as possible (Apathy or Black Plague only).

After that, the tank should focus primarily on holding the adds and moving them away from Yogg, so that Shadow Beacon doesn't cause the boss to gain healing stacks when it lands on the Marked Immortal Guardians. After it lands, the tank is free to come closer to the boss and let rip with some Vengeance buffed pewpew. But he needs to be mindful of the Beacon and move the adds well away before the next ones go out.

The other DPS can just focus on killing the boss.

Oh, and face away from the lightning (Lunatic Gaze, 4 sec channel) - don't go INSANE!

When the Titans came to Azeroth, they found five Old Gods waging an eternal war with each other. The Titans banished their elemental servants to the Elemental Planes and sealed Yogg-Saron in Uldaur and C'Thun in Ahn'Qiraj. They defeated N'Zoth but it is unknown where he lies; perhaps in Ny'alotha, the Rift of Aln or perhaps somewhere in the Emerald Dream. As for Y'Shaarj, they defeated him in Pandaria and his last terrible breath spawned the sha. The Titans believed that Y'Shaarj was 'very, very dead', but recent events, like the discovery of his still beating heart, have suggested that Y'Shaarj survived his encounter with the Titans, but is very, very, very, weak. Weaker than any Old God we've ever faced, but still alive.

So that gives us;

1. Yogg-Saron; killed beneath Uldaur
2. C'Thun; killed beneath Ahn'Qiraj
3. N'Zoth; Imprisoned or hiding somewhere
4. Y'Shaarj; Shattered and near death
5. ?

Nothing is known about the fifth Old God; but, Theldurin the Lost speaks of a dread name, Ryun'eh. Perhaps Ryun'eh will be the fifth Old God.

Just 2 manned it at level 90 with ~537 gear.

Did it as a fury warrior with a Holy pally. Would have been easier with a prot. pally instead.

Its very RNG based on the second phase. All the tentacles spawned close to each other on our kill. The closer the better. killed as many as we could before the brain phase.

Did the brain phase in one go, with out using any cooldowns. Both of us had 20+ sanity.

On the last phase (the one we wiped 60 times on) we killed the remaining tentacles, had the holy pally run to the edge of the room, faced away from the boss and used healing agro to keep the adds away. i used my cooldowns when the boss was sub 20%, and the pally used lay on him self when he got low around 8%.

The fight was stressful, had multiple <10% wipes, but we did it. It looks like the fight ends at 1.5%.

The mount dropped, running it again till we both have it.

Soloable as retribution paladin with iLvl 497 on 25man with all keepers up. P1 is a breeze, but P2 is the hardest one. P3 wasn't very hard after finishing the leftover tentacles from P2. When your sanity drops below 40-30, the only things that can lower your sanity should be the green beams, skulls inside portals and Lunatic Gaze in last phase. Managed to kill him with 2 portal phases, on another of those I used bubble to get quickly out of Constrictor Tentacle to get into the portal. Nuked the Constrictors with Judgement, Divine Storm and G91 Landshark otherwise. Try to build up some HP for DS before getting grabbed. Interrupted and used stuns on the debuff tentacles when I had time for them. Save DPS cd's for nuking the brain. Have defensive cd's up for the start of P3. After killing the tentacles it gets easier as you can go replenish your sanity and nuke the adds while doing that.

You just need to know what do in the fight and you have really little room for mistakes on P2. :)

I solo'd 10m alone in the darkness as an ilvl 517 assassination rogue. The faceless creatures were high enough for me to use glyph of deadly momentum. Run through the clouds for more of the faceless to spawn. With the extra 1% bonus to recuperate from my pvp gloves, I didn't have to worry about the damage even with the debuff, but it is always good to feint the nova the faceless guys do when they die. When yogg appears, you will be instantly grabbed. I use fan of knives to get out and kill the rest of the tentacles and wait for the portal. The tentacles inside the brain room have separate health from their disguises such as the suit of armor from the vision of King Llane. Try your best not to face the skulls inside. Yogg's brain has under a million health so I save my cds til the final phase. If you overkill his brain you will be kicked out the chamber. His immortals hit me for around 34k so I used combat readiness, pop vendetta and shadow blades, turn every time he uses lunatic gaze and boom he is dead.

Soloed this in 10m with all protectors present on a 506 Ret Paladin. The advice given here is very accurate and helpful, although in my experience, the fight was extremely RNG dependent.

It is possible to have a very punishing P2, with many casts of Black Plague which can make getting to the portal so difficult that the Induce Madness timer is impossible to beat even with very high DPS. However, you can also get the opposite situation, where even if you aren't able to clear the room in P2, you face almost no CC and can walk straight to the portal when needed. The fight can be difficult and frustrating, or confusingly easy. The time I beat it, it felt like a cheesy lore quest from Twilight Highlands. I needed almost no strategy at all, no well timed bubbles or clutch CDs.

So if it's draining your sanity in real life, hopefully you will eventually get a favorable P2, in which case it is a simple fight.

This fight is currently bugged in 5.4 The fight no longer transitions to phase 2, Sara remains at 1% and the adds spawn endlessly.

The bug where Sara doesn't transition seems to be, as far as I can tell, completely random. Touching clouds or not didn't seem to affect it for me and my friend, as we've had it both fail and work when avoiding couds as well as after spawning multiple adds from clouds at the same time.
If it does happen, the best solution is to simply spawn as many adds as you can to get yourself killed, then try again and hope it works properly.

The good news are that, once you do transition, the random raid damage going out in P2 no longer drains sanity.
Obviously you still have to deal with all the other mechanics, but this makes it a lot smoother to solo or do with few people, and doesn't require everyone to have a way to end the sanity drain like some classes were able to before the patch.

Note, however, that the skulls inside the brain room as well as Lunatic Gaze in P3 still drain sanity.

The only time you can lose sanity is when you look at the skulls in the brain room and the staring ability in the last phase.

It seems that as of 5.4 Psychosis only deals damage and no longer drains sanity. A relief to many players still farming Mimiron's Head, as they won't need extra raiders as sanity sponges.

Very much soloable as Monk, but still very difficult to execute correctly. Brewmaster spec pretty much mandatory for P3, unless you can keep the crusher numbers low enough and drop the immortal guardians health, after the full heal, incredibly fast. Which is very tricky, so I recommend Brewmaster. Windwalker does make P2 an awful lot easier though.

Use Xuen for maximal brain damage, and get Diffuse Magic to dispel the slow effect right after entering the portal. In T2 Chi Wave should be the best, Zen Sphere does barely any damage/healing, and getting Chi Burst casts off is incredibly annoying. Glyph of SCK mandatory, Rapid Rolling is kinda nice too.

In P2 just spin yourself out of the tentacles, and COMPLETELY ignore the corruptors (unless they're the only ones up, but don't stray too far from the portal spawn either), go for the Crushers instead. Black Plague should be an insta-Detox, the magic slow is often Diffused after entering a portal, and the other debuffs don't really hurt you at all.
The channeled -20% damage debuff from the Crushers is the real threat, 3-4 of these up is pretty much a wipe, so keep those crusher numbers low. Be on top of the portal as they spawn, if you can't get in in the first few seconds and still have 1 or more crushers up, just take the next portal, unless you're hitting enrage. The number of corruptors up is really quite irrelevant as long as you keep your Black Plague down.

Yogg Saron 25man No Keepers (0 lights) is now officially solo'able!
Been doing it as an ilvl 562 Fury Warrior solo 4 weeks consistently now.
Credit to MMO Champ and Ttotem for the heads up!

However!
Because of the mechanics of having 0 keepers up, even with the removal of random sanity loss from Sara in phase 2, all the other mechanics and loss of sanity remain unchanged. The fight is still absolutely brutal, has a high skill requirement, and took a good number of attempts to beat it solo.

Rather than brag, anyone looking to solo this must have excellent movement and awareness capabilities.
Most important tip:
The small tentacles can not get off their cast(s), specifically black plague. This will cause a long debuff that CCs (stuns) you very often and totally randomly, making you vulnerable to more debuffs, loss of control, inability to avoid certain sanity losses, and not enough time on the brain or Yogg in the final phase before you are overwhelmed.
Even making it to the final phase with over 75+ sanity left, you must have insane DPS before the unkillable adds wreck you; as you will have ALOT of adds after 45 seconds into the last phase.

Yogg Saron 25man No Keepers (0 lights) Rogue:

iLevel 571 Assassination. I used a flask and 300 food.

Talents: Burst of Speed (Shadowstep was great for getting to the Corruptor Tentacle as BoS will not remove the slow debuff) and Leeching Poison.

Glyphs: Vendetta, Evasion, Recuperate

Best case scenario: FoK 2x Constrictor Tentacles and kill 2x Corruptor Tentacles. Stand next to Crusher Tentacle (this will prevent more from spawning). If you have the debuffs, you can cloak them at this point. Enter Mind, kill adds, burn brain to 30% without using any CD's, and make sure you get a full 5CP Recuperate going before leaving. Exit brain, pop Smokebomb, and use pot/Shadowblades/Vendetta/Heroism Drum (made by LW's). Stay on Yogg and DPS. Pop Cloak when you get the debuff. Pop Evasion when needed.

If you don't kill the 2 Corruptor Tentacles before going in or you can't get the brain to 30% in one try, pop Vanish and try again.

This fight is friggin RIDICULOUS in EVERY BLOODY WAY! Avoid madness? No problem, we'll chain constrict you NONSTOP FOR SIX MINUTES while stacking weakness (-20% dmg) 4x on you so you do NOTHING for damage and then kill you! but wait, Thorim wants you to live so we'll have to FORCE you to commit suicide since it's been NINE MINUTES before I even got inside the damn brain!

This is freaking stupid. Absolutely livid after TWO HOURS of nothing on this piece of garbage boss because EVERY encounter is the same. Stuck in tentacles for 5-10 minutes and then insane. Screw this, I quit this boss.

Soloed Yogg-Saron on 25 man with 0 Keepers for Mimiron's Head (And I'll Form the Head!) as a 554 Survival Hunter with legendary cloak today. Although it is possible for other specs, I highly recommend Survival. I suspect it got a ton easier with the recent change in 5.4, Psychosis no longer reduces Sanity, but is still a very hard and unforgiving fight.

Preparation: Get a DPS pet (I used a Ferocity specced Wolf) and a Tenacity specced pet ( I used a turtle) the DPS pet will be used in phase 1 and 2 and the tenacity pet for phase 3. I HIGHLY recommend speccing into Spirit Bond. Agility food(Well Fed), Drums of Forgotten Kings, and Runescroll of Fortitude III isn't a must but certainly helps. Glyph of Mending and Glyph of Misdirection are BOTH required. I also had Glyph of Animal Bond, I wouldn't say it's required, but it is recommended. I also had an easier time when I respecced into Thrill of the Hunt and Blink Strikes (for the Constrictor Tentacles) for this fight, but it is doable without.

You will also need to make a macro:
/tar Constrictor
/cast Blink Strikes
/petattack
/targetlasttarget

Use this whenever you get constricted.

Phase 1:(100%): Very easy phase, use the ferocity pet, put it on passive and move it into the middle of the room, directly where Sara is. Run through as many green clouds as possible, and as the Guardian of Yogg-Saron spawn, misdirect them to your pet as they run toward you. When you have about 9-10 Guardian of Yogg-Sarons attacking your pet, AoE them down, and she should push into the next phase.

Phase 2 (Outside):(100%): Remember to take pet off passive while Sara is transitioning into phase 2. Now, 3 different tentacles will spawn; Constrictor Tentacle, Corruptor Tentacle, and Crusher Tentacle. The kill order is Constrictor > Corruptor > Crusher, however your pet can most likely one or two shot the Constrictor Tentacle if you are over 550 ilvl, they have very little health (about 100k). When you are constricted (Squeeze), you are unable to attack. Right when he transitions, You will be constricted right off the bat, use your macro (see above) and kill the Corruptor Tentacle ASAP, before it gets a chance to cast Apathy or Black Plague (Black Plague). IT IS IMPORTANT TO KILL THEM FAST, as if they are able to get these casts off it is a good chance that it may prevent you from killing the boss, as they greatly hinder you. (-60% movement speed for 20 seconds and stunned randomly for 24 seconds). Crusher Tentacles aren't as important as the others, however should try to be killed when constrictors or corruptors aren't there, the Crushers put a debuff that reduces the damage you deal by 20% (Diminish Power), which can stack if there are more of them up, so there really shouldn't be no more than 1 up at a time. Malady of the Mind is annoying, however is not avoidable. After 1 minute, Brain portals will spawn around the boss, you will be constricted right when they spawn so have your macro ready, once the tentacle dies get into the portal.

Phase 2 (Brain):(100%-30%): There are three different visions to get while in Yogg-Saron's brain, Wyrmrest Temple, Stormwind Keep, and Icecrown Citadel. Within each vision there are 9 Influence Tentacles that must be killed, you must kill all 9 in order to attack the Brain of Yogg-Saron. Also, try not to look at the Laughing Skull, they drain your Sanity by 2 every second your character is looking at them(Lunatic Gaze). The ICC vision is definitely he best one to get, as the Influence Tentacles are very close together and you can just Multi-Shot them down and run over to The Mind's Eye, where the Brain of Yogg-Saron is located, while the other two you must single target the Influence Tentacles down. Either way, hopefully you have about 35-40 seconds left on Brain of Yogg-Saron's Induce Madness cast to run over in the brain room and DPS the brain once the tentacles are dead. The Brain needs to get to 30% and you need to run out using the 3 portals around the room to get back outside. Try not to use your DPS CD's these are highly needed for the last phase, but try to get the brain down to about 40% and run out (If you are Survival, your Black Arrow and should keep ticking while outside, and the brain will get down to about 30%, and you will have more time outside to kill extra tentacles outside before he transitions to phase 3).

Phase 3 (30%-0%): Quickly kill any remaining tentacles that are up (Corruptor > Crusher), and switch out to your tenacity pet. Use all DPS CD's on Yogg-Saron, he needs to go down fast, so many Immortal Guardian are not up. Stand at max range from Yogg-Saron, so when he casts Empowering Shadows he does not get healed (Try setting pet to passive, so he does not attack Yogg-Saron and move the adds to him, which will cause him to heal). Try to get the Immortal Guardian to low health at all times, they won't do as much damage, and remember to misdirect them all to your pet. Just try to burn as much as possible and you can ignore the first few Lunatic Gazes, but once your Sanity gets to lower than 50 I recommend turning around to avoid Sanity loss, while you are turned around you could use that time to get the Immortal Guardian down to low health. You MUST have high DPS in this phase because the adds are unkillable, and there will be a LOT of adds 1 minute into the phase if Yogg-Saron is not killed. Misdirect adds to pet, and try getting the adds low after he has cast Empowering Shadows, remember to use Mend Pet if your pet gets low, and turning around to avoid the Sanity loss and he should go down. Collect loot for your unusable Fragment of Val'anyr and 1-2% chance at Mimiron's Head, cry that it didn't drop, and do it all next week.

I'm able to solo Yogg 25 +0 as a 561 Enhancement Shaman with legendary cloak. Using flask, 300 food, kings drum, and Purification Potions. Hope this guide helps a few people.

Key Talents:

Astral Shift, Ancestral Guidance and Primal Elementalist. The rest are up to you. I took Echo in the fourth tier for the double MW heals, but EM is also good to take for the last phase.

Note that Windwalk Totem does not remove the magic debuff that slows you Phase 2, and Earthgrab Totem does not root the adds in Phase 3, so the second tier of talents is completely worthless on this fight. Thanks Blizzard! -_-

Glyphs:

Feral Spirit, Healing Storm, Flame Shock.

You can glyph Shamanistic Rage instead if you would like to cleanse the slow debuff, but I found the healing to be much more important, especially from the FS glyph in the last phase.

The Fight:

Phase 1 is easy. Pop Spirit Walk, run through a few of the clouds, then stack on Sara and kill the mobs as they come to you. You'll need to kill 8 mobs on top of Sara to get Yogg to spawn. Once she's at zero health, get out of the pool in the center of the room and heal yourself up if needed.

Phase 2 is the tricky part, and you'll need a little favorable RNG here Once Yogg is done with his speech, one of each type of tentacle will spawn, including a Constrictor that picks you up. The only active attack that can hit this tentacle is Unleash Weapon. The good news is that UE can proc your cloak, which also damages the tentacle. So as soon as you get picked up, UE the Constrictor and pray for a proc (it should since you haven't been attacking anything for a few seconds at this point). Once it's dead, hustle over to the Crusher. Here's the trick: Constrictors will not spawn if you are standing next to a Crusher, so use that to your advantage. If you are in range of a Corruptor while standing next to a Crusher, kill the Corruptor (and definitely interupt/ground Black Plague and Apathy). Otherwise, slowly DPS the Crusher down (to build up MW stack to heal yourself) but don't kill it yet. Once the portals spawn, finish off the Crusher and get to a portal.

If you get picked up by a Constrictor on your way to the portal, use UE and hope you get a cloak proc. If that doesn't work, drop your Earth Elemental Totem and click this macro:

/tar Constrictor
/petattack

That should hopefully be enough to break you out.

Inside the mind, if you have the Black Plague debuff on you, pop a Purification Potion. Likewise, if you have the Apathy debuff on you and you glyphed SR, pop SR. Then pop Spirit Walk and kill all the mobs in the mind, avoiding Lunatic Gaze as much as you can. Once they're all dead, go to the brain room, pop Ascendance and burn it down below 30%.

If you don't bring the brain below 30% on the first portal, or if you miss the first portal altogether, I strongly advise wiping and starting over. The tentacles quickly get overwhelming and the frustration of constantly being stunned, slowed, mesmerized, etc is not worth it.

Phase 3 starts as soon as the brain drops below 30% health, at which point you get kicked back out to the main room. Kill all the remaining tentacles, starting with Corruptors if possible. Make sure to spread Flame Shock onto all the Immortal Guardians that spawn. This is where the FS glyph comes in handy. As this Phase goes on, more Guardians will spawn, which gives you more mobs to spread FS to, which restores more of your health. It also makes Fire Nova a very strong spell since they will all be grouped up on you and Yogg. Once the tentacles are down, drop Fire Elemental Totem, lust, and burn Yogg. Watch your sanity; if you're low, make sure you face away from him during Lunatic Gaze. And keep spreading FS. Not only do more Guardians spawn, but the ones you brought down to low health will jump back up to full health, meaning they really start to hurt. Fire Nova should bring them back down fairly quickly, but make sure to use Astral Shift, Ancestral Guidance, and/or Healing Tide totem if you need them. Rinse and repeat until Yogg is dead.

You can target the Brain of Yogg-Saron before the fight even begins, and set it as a focus. As you are killing the adds in Phase 1 of the fight, if you have the legendary cloak Fen-Yu, Fury of Xuen and it happens to proc its effect, you can actually target the Brain of Yogg-Saron and the cloak proc will travel through the floor, and damage the brain. Try to wait until Sara provides the buff Sara's Fervor on you, as this will increase the damage of the cloak proc. Using this method, you can easily get the Brain down to roughly 80% before Phase 2 even starts, depending on how lucky you get with cloak procs, and Sara buffing you up.

I was able to easily one-shot this fight with zero Keepers as a hunter at level 90, as of patch 6.0.2. It does require some knowledge of the fight. You still have to kill guys near Sara at the beginning to proceed to Phase 2. I had a pet, so I was able to easily get out of Constrictor tentacles. I also knew to click the portals, to avoid facing the mobs/tentacles in the vision, and to kill the brain as quickly as possible. That took one trip through. Then in Phase 3, I was able to completely ignore the spawning mobs and just DPS Yogg down. For this phase, you still need to turn away during Lunatic Gaze.

Beyond those items, it's easily soloable now.

This is pretty simple to solo on 25m with 0 Keepers after 6.0.2.
As a dps warrior it is actually hard to die even if you try.

Simple kill plan:

*Important: Use a portal to get out before the brain finishes the cast. If you kill the brain you get ported out.

Phase 4 - Nuke Yogg. If he shoots purple lightning at you turn around to not loose sanity.

I read here that Yogg-Saron was easily soloable in 6.0.2, so I decided to give it a go. I'm an elemental shaman (ilvl 580) and found it still quite hard to solo.

I used Glyph of Thunder and Glyph of Spiritwalker's Grace.

Here's how I finally did it:

Phase 1 is the easiest part of the fight, just kill a few adds on Sara.
Phase 2 (still outside) is the most difficult part of the fight. To deal with the Constrictor Tentacles you need non-targeted AoE damage. As an elemental shaman in 6.0.2, you only have 2 ways of dealing with the tentacles: Thunderstorm and Earthquake.
I used Thunderstorm on the first tentacle and the last one (when the portals have spawned). I got grabbed two times in between that and placed Earthquake right under the tentacle. There's a bit of RNG involved to not get stunned while casting. It is possible to place the Earthquake right under your feet before you get grabbed (it will grab you somewhere near you), but there's even more RNG involved.
I didn't found any other ways of dealing with them. The Fire Elemental Totem (even with Primal Elementalist) will just stand underneath the tentacle and won't attack, all other attacks (combined with Spiritwalker's Grace) won't work because you're not facing the add. Magma Totem is only Enhancement Shaman now.
Phase 3 is timed. Since elemental shamans can't cast Lightning Bolt while running anymore, I used Spiritwalker's Grace here to kill the adds as quickly as possible. After that, pop all CD's and finish off the brain.
Phase 4 is quite easy too. Just nuke Yogg-Saron and turn around when he's casting the purple lightning.

It took me a while, but I finally got him down. I'll be soloing him every week now for the awesome mount!

Since they took away Fan of Knives for Combat rogues (a terrible decision), this fight is impossible to solo. As Assassination it's not very hard, just wait to kill the constricting tentacles until the portals appear, none of the tentacles do much damage and you don't loose sanity while constricted.

Ok I went out of my way to make a video demonstrating just how easy Yogg +0 is.

As long as your spec has a way to get out of the grappling tentacles (that is any AoE at all, pets etc) you should not have problems with this fight.

You still need to watch your sanity.
You should probably kill the Corruptor Tentacles if you can, to avoid stuns.
But as long as you handle the portals right there should be no real issue here.

I'll paste my old "how to" as well:

It should be noted that as of 6.0 it is possible for the constrictor tentacles to bug out and not die when hit with abilities whereby you get stuck and automatically fail the encounter. There is some variety of a UI bug or something that shows the tentacle at 1/48000HP and my tidy plates displays ~ 30% HP left on the tentacle/

I have experienced this twice on my 559 enhancement shaman but oddly enough not on my more geared characters which leaves me wondering if it has been fixed or not.

I was able to solo this on my 517 arms warrior (Yogg 25 0 keepers)

First phase is pretty straight forward kill the adds in the middle save some rage for p2.

In p2 i instantly kill the constrictor with my whirlwind. Then go around and kill the tentacles.

p3 Enter brain when the portals spawn kill the adds clockwise. Then burst brain and you will automatically get teleported out.

Now p4 starts kill the tentacles that are there then pop all cds and burn yogg down.

I use juggernaut, second wind, taste for blood, dragon roar and bladestorm.

People do such a terrible job of describing trying to solo this fight. They get the mechanics at least partially down but no one mentions the huge amount of rng involved. I solo'd this with a demo lock and I suspect the fight may be different if you have a pet.

This description is for 25 man version, 10 man was a lot easier to solo and the rng didn't seem to matter so much.

Phase 1 is super easy. You just get the adds to die on Sara. Once her hp is down to 1 phase 2 begins.

Phase 2 is where the rng really hurts. You have tentacles randomly spawn and randomly grab you. You have to either aoe them down or have your pet attack them when you are grabbed. All the time you will have constant random dots happening that will stun you, interrupt, etc. Around every 30 secs brain portals spawn, you want to be free to go into a brain portal as soon as they spawn (here's another place where the random comes into play).

Phase 3 is totally rng hell. This is entirely a race to get the brain to 30% hp or you die. So if you are grabbed by a tentacle when the brain portals spawn and it takes you awhile to get free you lose that amount of time. If you are unlucky enough to have a lot of slowing/stun debuffs on you you will lose time to that too even if you get into the portal. Once in the portal you run clockwise killing stuff quickly and once everything is dead (different things to kill also depending on what brain scene you are in) the brain is open to be attacked. I had all kinds of issues here, my lock pet would not follow me through the portal sometimes or it would just stand at the start and not follow me until i started attacking the brain losing me valuable dps time.

If you don't go into phase 3 the first time the brain portals arrive chances are you will be overwhelmed by tentacles and their debuffs. So I'd suggest you just wipe if you can't get into those first brain portals for whatever reason.

Phase 4 is the Yogg fight. Just face away from him when he does purple lightning. Immortal Guardians will overwhelm you on this phase if you don't kill Yogg quick.

Really not enjoyable, too much rng and too many bugs for my taste. I did this fight a few times when it was relevant and new and didn't like it then, I like it even less now.

Just finished it in 25m as a Firemage. Things to be careful for. Tentacles.

Recommended talent

-Mirror Image (save it for the last nuke phase)

Good thing in 25M mode, you don't lose sanity before you enter the portal. I don't know if it's a bug or not but it's definitely an advantage. If you are grabbed by a tentacle, the only spell I seem to be able to use is Living bomb. I couldn't even use Scorch. Living Bomb talent is highly recommended since you can place it on unlimited number of targets in 6.0 rather than only 3 targets like before. Place a living on every tentacle you see if possible. As ilvl 550+. it should be able to kill them within its duration, except the big one, Crusher. Once you are inside the portal, cast living bomb on every target inside. They have low hp, just 1 tick should kill them. When the target is killed, the Living Bomb explodes and kill all nearby targets.

Once you are outta the portal, you must clear whatever tentacle you see or you will find yourself in deep trouble, you either keep getting stunned or forever slow. Don't worry about the boss and other mobs yet. Kill all tentacles first! They are the problem in the whole boss fight. Once they are all gone, they won't spawn again because these are the tentacles you didn't kill before you enter the portal. So don't worry about more tentacles will spawn. The other mobs don't really hurt. So just focus on the boss and nuke him down. If the boss is draining your sanity, just face away.

Shadow Priest

Without Keepers (required for dropping the Mimiron's Head mount), patch 6.0.2 (lvl 90, pre WoD)

First phase, with Sara, is trivial, just one shot the mobs that spawn.
On next phase I used Fear Ward and made extensive use of Shadow Word: Pain, which is the best way to deal with tentacles, because it's instant, deals damage upfront and has no facing requirement. You can spam it and need not to worry about mana, because in 6.x.x we no longer go OOM. I also used Halo. Make sure to stay near center, so you can easily click portals once they spawn.
Once inside, just one shot the yellow mobs with single application of Shadow Word: Pain and make sure you have Devouring Plague ready to throw on brain when you get to him (it's a room adjacent to the one you get teleported to after clicking portal). At that time, I still had roughly 24 sec remaining before timer ended, so I applied DoTs and mind flayed a few times - that killed the brain and last phase began so I got teleported outside.
Now on this last phase don't worry about the Immortal Guardians, they will not kill you, and also they are not killable. Use them to apply SW:P for instant Mind Blasts on Yogg (pick Shadowy Insight talent for this) to build orbs for Devouring Plague and just keep DoTs rolling on boss. I wasn't really paying attention to Lunatic Gaze, because my Insanity stacks were still very high and I preferred spending my free time inbetween stuns on damaging the boss.

Extremely easy to solo-kill (Hard Mode for Mimiron's Head). I used a Retribution Paladin with ~580 gear, but at this point my hamster could probably do it. How?

- Save one non-targetted ability for when you get grabbed. Holy Prism (cast on self) every 20 seconds is enough to get you out.
- Wait until the portals spawn. You can kill the tentacles if you're bored, but they really don't do much anymore.
- Enter the portal, kill the minions to open the gate. This is actually the only time you can lose significant amounts of sanity, so beware if you drop low.
- Kill the brain and the feeble rest of Yogg-Saron. Guardians can be ignored and so can pretty much every ability the boss uses.

So I don't know if this has been hot fixed or what but tonight I went to run 10-man +0 and I lost 70% sanity in the first minute of the fight. It's still perfectly doable for my class I had no real problem with it, only lost 4% during the brain phase and killed him before he started draining in phase 3 but in 25-Man I never had this issue...

So I tried all of these strats that are posted on this page. ilevel 632 Enhancement Shaman. Wiped on tentacles on attempts 1 and 3 and died instantly in the brain phase (I read afterwards that it's a timed event. They give you maybe one minute to do it).

You wipe on the tentacles for this reason: the tentacles bug. I was able to drop my Magma Totem before and after being grabbed by the tentacles, then on like the 4th tentacle I get an error message saying "No Path Available" when I try to drop my totem. Nothing worked. Could not drop anything or attack or summon my Spirit Wolves.

So you basically sit there during the entire duration of his fight before he enrages after 10 minutes or so. I'd drop to around 50k HP then something would heal me back up to 107k and back and forth like that until he goes," MINIONS. DESTROY THEM" and you get instantly killed.

So it's basically a crap shoot. During Attempt 3 as soon as Yogg came up after the Sara portion I was immediately grabbed by a bugged tentacle and could not drop my totem. Really not interested in trying to solo Yogg anymore if it's going to bug out like this.

Just a warning to anyone going in there as a Shaman. You might wipe a half dozen times before you get him.

My last enhancement guide became out of date on the 6.0 patch so here's an updated version. There is still some RNG that can give you troubles in this fight, but hopefully this helps to minimize those.

Make sure you have some Purification Potions with you. They make it much easier in Phase 2 for the portals.

Key Talents

Just one: Totemic Projection. Everything else is up to your own preferences.

Glyphs

Flame Shock, Shamanistic Rage, and then whichever other one you want.

Fight

Phase 1 is easy. Run through the mist clouds to spawn adds and then kill them on top of Sara. You won't need many. When you hear her say "I am the lucid dream", run out of the middle, kill the remaining adds and then immediately drop a magma totem.

At the start of Phase 2 and periodically throughout the phase, you will be picked up by a Constrictor tentacle. The only ability we currently have that will damage these guys is Magma Totem. If you try to drop one while you are picked up, you will likely receive a "No Path Available" error. That's why it's important to drop the totem before the phase begins and keep it active throughout the phase (always refresh it after you kill one). The key is that Totemic Projection is usable while constricted so you can easily move your magma totem to your location when you get picked up.

Aside from that, stay relatively close to Yogg and kill the Corruptor tentacles as they spawn. The spell you want to interupt is Black Plague, since that is the one that will give you the most issues. If the portals are about to spawn, stay close to Yogg so you can get in asap (and keep Magma Totem down!). Once you are in the portal, if you have Black Plague on you, cleanse it with a Purification Potion, and if you have Apathy on you, use Shamanistic Rage to clear it off of you. Then kill all the adds in whatever scenario you are placed in, and then burst down the brain.

Phase 3 starts when the brain drops below 30% and you get kicked back out to the main room. No more tentacles spawn, but you do want to clear up the any remaining from the previous phase (Corruptors first, then Crushers). Once they are down, focus Yogg. Spreading FS to all the adds with FS glyph active makes you practically invincible so the only thing you really have to worry about is making sure your Insanity stays above zero. It should be an easy kill from this point on.

Yogg-Saron (no guardian assistance) - To begin with, burn the mobs from the green clouds, /kiss sara, and then start killing tentacles (some might pick you up). Eventually the portal will appear to click on. Go inside and burn all the mobs whilst facing your camera away from the purple skulls where possible, then nuke the brain (~90 sanity).
I figured out that once you are outside (Phase 3?) you can run circles around YS whilst facing your camera away and burning everything. His healing make this process incredibly slow, but if you face him to spam CDs very sparingly, you should be able to nuke him with about 30 Sanity left over.

Soloing for achieves as a lvl100 ele shaman. Was having horrible trouble with the constricting tentacles in phase 2. It seemed like most of my spells just wouldn't cast - no error message, just nothing happened - and if I dropped an elemental or Searing Totem, they wouldn't target the tentacle holding me.

What wound up working, though, was Earthquake. Even though a tentacle was swinging me around, I was able to cast on the ground under me, and it took care of the tentacle in a couple ticks.

So it looks like any spell that doesn't need to be target, or that targets an area rather than a mob, is what you need to get away from a tentacle.

Tips for soloing Yogg-Saron as an Enhancement Shaman, specifically vs. the Constrictor Tentacles of Phase 2.

Things to note:

1) You can't avoid being caught, as far as I can tell. If you're caught unprepared there is no way to escape, except dieing to the 15 minute enrage timer.

2) While you'll be able to cast spells on some of the other tentacles (depending on the direction you were facing when caught), the Constrictor Tentacle that actually catches you always counts as being behind you - and therefore cannot be attacked.

3) Your elementals and Spirit Wolves won't attack the tentacle once you're caught. You can't drop your Magma Totem once caught, either - you'll get a "no path available" error message.

So, come prepared!

1) Take the Totemic Projection talent, you can use it to move you Magma Totem once caught.

2) Immediately drop and stand on top of your Magma Totem. You'll invariably disconnect from the server the first time you're caught by a Constrictor Tentacle. Don't worry, you can simply log back in and with luck, your totem will have killed it.

2) Move to a nearby Crusher Tentacle, cast Flame Shock on it and recast your Magma Totem. You'll continue to be caught by Constrictor Tentacles but with luck either your totem will kill it, or you can cast Fire Nova and kill it with the AoE from the Crusher Tentacle.

3) If you're an Engineer, you can also use your High-Powered Bolt Gun to shoot the tentacle. This is especially useful if you're pulled out of range of your totem and Totemic Projection is on cooldown (but the damage seems to be affected by Diminish Power though, so use this earlier rather than later).

A lot of people have been having issues with soloing the 10 man version of the Yogg-Saron fight. Sara will constantly steal your insanity repeatedly using Psychosis. In 25 man - there is no issue. You pretty much leave the fight with full insanity. In 10 man, Sara will keep taking your Insanity until you hit 37 insanity and you it will sit there unless you lose it to Lunatic Gaze(facing Yogg in phase 3). So when you go inside his brain portal, make sure not to face the skulls to lose anymore insanity and when you come out to phase 3, do not face Yogg when he is casting Lunatic Gaze.

If you decide to bring a friend, be aware that Sara will then cast Brain Link(so more insanity lost if you guys aren't near each other when cast).

Just solo'd 10 man Yog with 0 keepers on my iLvL 644 shadow priest. Decided to do Ulduar for some transmog...

Fight was surprisingly easy once I got the mechanics down. I largely skipped Ulduar during Lich King. Here is how I did it.

Phase 1) Stand on Sara and kill the adds. They hit for nothing and 1-2 shot to die. I honestly just let a lot on my and then used Halo (that talent is great for this fight)

Phase 2) Just keep Shadow Word: Paining the tentacles. Even if one grabs you, you can target it. I don't know if this is something new but I had no issue getting the tentacles to drop me.

Phase 3) Pop Shadow Word: Pain on all the adds-that-are-seekritly-tentacles. Or use halo. Should be easy. Then just go dot up the brain and do your reg rotation on it. Should die fast.

Phase 4) Dot up Yog and do your rotation on him. Turn around to avoid the purple beam.

I'm not sure how this would be a for a class without range, or dots. Probably more difficult. But on a priest I suspect I might have been able to solo it in my holy spec thanks to SW:P.
