They come in groups of 3 and have 3 abilities they use.

1) Shadowbolt Volley- Deals roughly 2k shadow Damage in an AOE around them. Range is > than 41 yards.
2) Death Coil - A single target damage and fear. They seem to randomly target someone and use it on them.
3) Reign of Fire - AOE Fire spell that deals 2-3k damage a tick.

Strategy - Try to separate them and DPS them down as quickly as possible. Get out of the Reign of Fire ASAP and make sure people aren't taking multiple Shadowbolt Volleys. You can interrupt the Volleys but it is a fast cast time. Use Lin of Sight to avoid as much damage as possible.

Mind Numbing poison does work on these but they are highly resistant to it, sometimes takes 4 tries before it is applied.

They also cast Shadow Word Pain on a random raid member, ticks for 1000 and can safely be dispelled (or use cloak of shadows)
And they do another nasty dot which ticks for 500 and that one should not be dispelled as the decurser will take massive damage. Can't remember the name of it, again rogues can use cloak of shadows on that dot to safely remove it.

Tactic we use is to pull one to a tank with Misdirection and have the other 2 tanked more or less where they are.

There's 4 packs of these, 3 stationary and one patrolling.
Also you need to clear all of the packs before you engage Magtheridon.

It's very strange that these mobs can land crushing blows... they're level 72.

Maybe they have a higher weapon skill ?

It has been confirmed that these mobs can land crushing blows on level 70 raid tanks with 350+ defense, despite being level 72. They are currently the only known mob in the game to do this. As far as I know the exact crush percentage is unknown, and the mechanism has been theorized to be related to a higher weapon skill than normal.

If you plan on soloing Magtheridon's Lair, clear every single one of these bastards out. They pull into the room, and make a solo nigh impossible with their incessant death coils and the Channeler's self heals.

They are level ? even on 85. i.e. They require hit rating of 17% for a caster to not miss!

I tried to solo the first pack of these on a Level 85 Fire Mage. I just need to say... HOLY MOTHER OF HELLFIRE THEY DO A LOT OF DAMAGE! I was feared endlessly around the northern part of the raid instance, my health being chipped down 2% per second by these hellspawns.

I look forward to being too scared to come near this place again.
