Bugged. Killed and did not count towards my "Hunt: Soul Eaters" - Soul Bound, however the quest objective for "Stalking the Warrens" did count.

I just killed it, so it's not fully bugged. I had to turm WM on to join the PUG; the other folks in the PUG said the boss was bugged with WM off, so maybe that's why it worked for me. OTOH it may just have been lucky with finding a WM on instance that wasn't bugged.

Blizzard have hotfixed all of the hunts in the maw so they can now be completed.

I usually solo all of the other Hunts, but this Hunt is freaking annoying. You need to kill 20 mobs that spawn ONE AT A TIME and at the same time they randomly disappear while you're trying to kill one. There is no way to even complete the objective before the ritual is complete. Took me a few tries solo but it's absolutely stupid it can fail like that.

Am I missing something or does no one say how to actually do this?

You see Hunt: Soul Eaters on your map (sadly you only see this on your map when you're in the Maw). You go to this location and Shifting Life-Eater will be there but he's unattackable.

What happens is an event will start every few minutes or so. When the event starts you will see a progress bar for "Ritual Progress" and a goal of killing 20 x Displaced Soul Feeder. What you basically have to do is kill the 20 x Displaced Soul Feeder before the Shifting Life-Eater kills enough to fill the Progress Bar. There is another npc Undying Soulbinder that will be creating Displaced Soul Feeder from 3 piles. So you need to kill them before the Shifting Life-Eater gets to them.

Then, if you kill them in time, you will have to kill the two elites Shifting Life-Eater and the Undying Soulbinder that is with him.

If you kill them you get 525 rep that's it. There is no drop.

I think just one person needs to get to 20, so if you have a bunch of ppl soloing just one makes it to 20 (can be other faction too I think, maybe only with wm off) and then everyone can attack the elites.

I can't imagine this is soloable.

This quest is AWFUL. Clearly not designed to be solo-able, as a Shadow priest I'm using health pots and VE to try and stay alive. The mobs hit like trucks and then the entire event is failed as not enough are killed in time. I'm ilvl 226 and STRUGGLING. Closest I've gotten is 90%. Even if 100% is hit, 2 massive elites then spawn which are definitely not solo-able. I've submitted a bug report to Blizzard as I can't understand how the quest could be designed this way, even if it isn't designed to be solo'd the progress bar and time given to defeat 20 mobs that hit like trucks is absolutely ridiculous.

One to avoid!
