VERY HAPPY WOWHEAD HERE! Wowmatrix is dead, glad it is as it was an unethical tool ripping off valid sites that host those AddOns. Curse Client, I find the new version VERY unethical, they have down-throttled downloads, to make sure you hate the software and want to pay for the upgrade. They are mining user data in a way that is also unethical. This software, if as advertised, just kicked Curse in the teeth and thank god someone did because Curse kicked all of us in the teeth with the latest Ninja style release!Thank you, the free Market system works and curses abuse of their loyal customers is about to bite them in the ass!I will be promoting this in my guild ass soon as it is released.
Waiting patiently for the day I can toss curse in the recycle bin.
Though I use and happen to find WowMatrix to be awesome, it has its issues. Minion sounds like its going to be an awesome, and I will have to grab it to help manage all my raiding and personal AddOns.
Will defenetly try this, Wowmatrix sucked, it screw with my addons and curse is this premium &*!@ when I can't update all addons at once.
What's so hard about opening your browser and downloading your addons? Some people are so lazy.
Looking forward to this, the Curse Client has been getting more and more unreliable everyday. Loss of features to 'premium only' and mods auto-downloading without consent is not high on my list of good things.
Looking forward to this. I've never liked the WoWMatrix or Curse clients, but i did like the WoWAce client a lot. Thank you dev's, can't wait to try this out.
It's great that WoWInterface have listened to people and decided to make an new update client that addon authors are happy with and can display ad(s) for revenue. Cross platform too is fantastic, well done! After the 3.1 debacle where WowMatrix was blocked from WoWInterface and Curse many people were looking for a new addon updater I imagine, I'd personally think it would have been more beneficial to release Minion closer to 3.1 but I can understand people have lives and they come first.Plus the blocking meant you didn't have to revert to that 'lite' version of the site for the first few days after the patch while your bandwidth went through the roof.In regards to Minion.
I find it interesting folks are focusing on the fact that there already programs out there that do this. Yes, there are. However, as you may have noticed there are likely numerous pizza places near you, just because one already existed doesn't mean another one can't. How many fast food places can you quickly think of that serve hamburgers? The idea was big enough to support more than one singular establishment. This is no different. Just because something has already been done, does not mean it cannot be done better, differently, or in an original way, and still deliver to you the thing you desire. Competition forces people to strive for something better. Back in the old days there was a singular telephone company. The service was crappy, the phones were crappy, and the connections were crappy. There are now hundreds. I am a business owner, and I’ve seen a number of competitors come and go, those before me and those that came after. Each forced me to try to be better, more efficient, and more effective. Competition creates innovation and improvements. Far as I can tell that's never a bad thing.
Why fix something if it aint broke, curse client does a perfectly good job and has a way larger database of addons. Curse client is secure and unless your a nublet does not lead to your password or username being hacked. Anyone says its large and cumbersome needs to watch how large the footprint of this particular copycat will be.Why do you asume everything in this world should be free, they put work into it and therefore to keep the service as good as possible money is needed, do you really grow up and leave home expecting a new house, car, boat etc.. to be waiting for you, or do you have to work and pay for the things you have?
