I think that picture is disturbing and hilarious at the same time. :P
Algalon is much, much harder than the other bosses, and requires all 4 of the watchers to be completed on hard mode before you can even attempt him. It's going be a while.
I think that given the guild(s) that have taken him down did it on "easy" mode and are themselves more professional raiding guilds, that the verdict shouldn't be in on how easy the boss is. Now if we see everyone and their mother downing yogg and then pugging it shortly, then it will be too easy.
It's not easy to make a set of bosses that most people will have a shot at downing with enough time and patience and practice and yet hard enough that the biggest and best guilds with their heads on straight to still have a challenge. You either end up with a whole level of raiding that cannot be completed by a majority of Wow players or you end up with something like this, where most everyone will be able to down the regular set of bosses, but only the elite at the top will be able to do it bigger better faster and have bragging rights, better lootz, and kickass titles and mounts. Personally, I rather like this compromise.
What was the time frame for similar T5/6 kills in TBC? How long was it before these top guilds got the world-firsts back then? I wasn't tuned in on raiding back then and so I don't really recall. IMO the raids are a tad too easy. The hard mode thing is pretty sweet but ezmode is a bit too ez if you ask me. Some thought that raids were too difficult in vanilla/TBC. To me, it was that difficulty and challenge that made them so special and yearned after. I remember working harder to get into raid slots and enjoying the difficulty so much more. The top guilds will always get their world firsts but it's kind of disheartening when the fights really are just that easy so that the world firsts come days/hours after a patch is released.I donno, it is nice getting more guildies into a raid thanks to an easier raid, but it's not as much fun when the fights are so easy that you can pretty much AoE heal/dps so much to bits.
As a pretty casual player I applaud the easier raids. During TBC I didn't raid at all and barely touched Heroic content. I didn't want WoW to become a "job" where I had to show up on specific days in order to play through certain content so I wasn't in a 'raiding guild'.But with WotLK I've done nearly all the Heroics and a few raids without much trouble and finally been able to enjoy that content, all casually with friends or pickup groups.Hearing that Ulduar is still fairly easy means that I might actually get a chance to experience it so of course I see that as a good thing.
Ulduar is scaled nicely in difficulty for the not-hardcore elite guilds. However, Watcher Freya has already been downed on hard mode (3 ancients), and Thorim has been downed on hard mode too. It makes me wonder if perhaps they're tuned too easy?
I was also disappointed with the ease the hardcore guidls go "Jaws-Saron" down. However, I don't believe that the hard modes are the solutions.Love the pic.
Easy modes? Seriously, just about nobody has actually tried this instance on hard modes.
I think the raid progression is fine. I'm in a casual guild with ppl of different skills and time to play and we managed to kill malygos just yesterday. It would be lovely if the progression in 3.1 took till the next patch :)
At this point, how quickly the world's top guilds clear a raid really doesn't dictate how quickly everyone else will. As far as I know, most guilds are still in the early parts of Ulduar. And like many have said, it'll be quite a while before all the hardmodes are cleared.
Well at my opinion we should say that ulduar is cleared only when all boss are dead on hard mode...:) Normal mode/Hard mode is something like Normal/Heroic At my opinion at least
About the pic, there was a huge thread on MMO about movie posters shoped to add Yoggy, I'll try to find it.Edit: Got it.
Now go and try to get all the achievements, in both normal and hard mode. Good luck with that lol
Elite guilds are elite. That will almost never change. Kil'jaeden was available May 20th, and SK killed him the 25th.This was before they picked up some amazing players from Nihilum. This was also the Icecrown/post Icecrown of BC.The ease of raids should be judged by two things (now) their Puggability, and Hard Modes.
