it was april FAIL day at least on this site
It wasn't gut-wrenching funny, the front page, but it brought out a little chuckle, which is the point.Good job guys :)
I thought it was epic win to see so many gullible people fall for it. Absolutely hillarious. And tbh, I kinda liked the design. I wouldn't mind it what so ever, especially the blog posts. How's it going by the way with the new front page redesign? Thought I read something about it a while ago.
That's it! That was the reason Wowhead could never be like the Armory - the pages here load too quickly=\"
That's it! That was the reason Wowhead could never be like the Armory - the pages here load too quickly=\\ Um, I suppose it depends on where you're at. In my end the pages load equally fast.Infact, it runs so well that I've ditched my quickarmory.com bookmarks.
I'm personally ashamed I fell for it at first. I was all set to join the expected slog of offended users on your forums (we won't bring up the Warhammer add incident) when I had the sense to check the date and liberally apply my face to my palm.Always a pleasure WoWhead.Edit to Malgayne: To respond to your concern about people liking the joke setup better, the intellegent among us love and respect your site for the same reasons I love using Google instead of Yahoo or Ask Jeves. Its simple, its direct to the point, and it doesn't try to be anything other than what I want it to be (in this case a search engine/database with all the admitedly fun extras hidden behind tabs at the edge of the screen as to be out of the way of my searching and my run on sentences that would make my english teacher cut herself in a stupid induced fit of trauma). PLEASE no drastic changes. We already love you for what you are.
LAWL, that was great! Nice April Fools, I love checking out all my favorite Intertube sites on 04/01...Those are some pretty hilarious e-mails too =P
lol @ all the people who got fooled by the very obvious prank. Well done, Wowhead. :)
Hahaha! sometimes you wonder wth is going on in peoples heads. :P
What I love about April fools isn't so much the joke its self, it watching peoples reactions to it, and looking at these highlights has given me a chuckle.I must admit, when I first clicked on the site I was a little confused, I actually typed out the address again. I've never been the most alert person at 9 in the morning :Pp.s. To be honest it was nice having the menu below the search bar for the day, having it above kinda annoys me at times, but who cares, still the best wow DB site...
I can't believe I fell for it~_~Better look at the date before talking:P
Yea I noticed this yesterday that I have seen something similar before, but couldn't say where. I really don't use that much wowarmory site, because its too damn slow. (as stated before). But it seems that every site on web "lends" something from others, so I would assume its okay to do. Hardly none of the software/online companies choose to put any effort protecting their user interface / look, which is their intellectual property by patents, and other means etc except microsoft.Well done, good prank.
Very nice one, sure you got loads of people into believing it =)!
When it comes to jokes like this, i found that the most funny thing is not the joke itself, but seeing all this people totally fall for it. :DNicely done Wowhead ;)
Tech humour never makes the cut. . .
Possibly, the best part of this was the inclusion of "BETA" below the title.
lol, I knew tons of people would complain about it. Thats why I sent wowhead a email suggesting them as April's Fool to make a front page about themselves :)
Lovely:)I can't believe people really thought you would do such a huge change on the first of April. To be honest, the "new" design looked really cool but it's good to be back to the normal neutral Wowhead look. :)
I liked last year's April Fool's a bit more. A lot more hilarious."WTF WOWHEAD UR HOMEPAGE LOOKS LIKE THOTTBOT WTFBBQSAUCE?"
I think it was a really good joke, but it makes me sad that you moved the menu bar back on top of the searchbox, and that you have now removed the latest-blogs-square-thingy, both of those features were really nice.
