I'm almost calling foul here. I don't have be mine or brew of the year card. However, I had come to terms with the fact that I wouldn't be getting my drake until 2010. I was ecstatic. But due to that god-awful bug, and not being able to play much after they hotfixed it, I only got 5 candies. So now, I see that they've taken away brew of the month. Oh-... great... The thing i was previously hoping for... that now doesn't make a difference anyway...Oh wait! Be Mine has been-...nope, didn't make it.:(
As a level 20 somethin' I got the be mine achievement, while luck based it wasn't hard and most players could get it. Yes some have work or school, a lot of my weekend I had to do schoolwork. But I spent one free day and got quite a bit of the achievements, including be mine.As for people saying achievements shouldn't be about things like throwing flowers at someone. Holiday achievements are for fun. I enjoy them, and they are things lower levels can do. They give equal opportunities. They have achievements easy for all levels, but also ones only 80s can do. Thus giving the fun of achievements to low levels, but rewarding people for leveling by making 80 only ones too.
I don't think this is some kind of caving in or listening to QQ.I believe that Blizzard is very open to criticism and feedback, but I have never seen them rushing changes. They are comfortable with the Brew of the Month membership to be part of the meta. This is not going to change. They only changed the 1 year delay that would be forced upon many players because noone really knew about the whole achivement stuff in advance. The change to Be Mine! is reasonable and I approve it. I did the the whole thing every hour, and even after the hotfix, I was only able to get 3 Bag of Candies in total, leaving my 1 heart short... ;-)/cheersPS: I haz an Anzu! /happy
"the demands of a few angry forum posters"I'd like to meet these few whom made a point that was valid enough to sway the minds that run a multi-million dollar company.
Personally, the way I see it is this:On "Be Mine":The "hotfix" to increase the drop rate came later in the week, meaning some people didn't get to take full advantage of it. This for me justifies the change, but without that, I would say it's bull.On "Brew of the Year":100% necessary, this achievement was a huge disapointment in the first place because of a few reasons.1: Released way before the achievement system was released.2: Requires you to log in every month.3: The only achievement required for *any* meta that forces you to be on at any time other than the scheduled date of the event. So because of these reasons, I support both of these changes. And to clear the debt, I have both the Brew of the Month membership and the Be Mine achievement.~edit: See *
I think Blizzard is trying very hard to give all ppl the Violet Proto Drake!Every time we see nerfs on the meta achievs, which makes them now so easy to earn them! The Violet Proto Drake lost its value for me. Its still a beatiful mount nontheless, but still....
The real whiners are the ones who are crying about the fact that their purple proto-drake mount will be slightly more common. Everyone knows how easy the holiday achievements are to obtain so it's not exactly a major status symbol. This achievement was probably never really meant to be a status thing anyway since all you have to do is log on at the right times and be lucky. If you are that desperate to show the WoW community that you have a lot of spare time to play WoW, go for an achievement that is actually difficult to get. Hunt down all of the rare mobs or something.Blizzard is not "caving to a bunch of whiners." They're doing what they should be doing- listening to feedback from players. If enough people are unhappy with something, why not change it? WoW is successful BECAUSE Blizzard listens to feedback and fixes issues on an ongoing basis. If they ignored everyone and did only whatever the developers felt like doing, believe me... you would be far unhappier about a lot of other things.Does it REALLY hurt you if a few more people get the mount?Stop being so selfish.
Why wouldn't they just make an achievement that requires membership, instead of requiring to have every brews ?
Noooooo!I dont mind the BotY achivement being lost. I had bought it out of curiosity, and dont care if that many more people get to be happy or whatever. What I am sad about is that I had only gotten FIVE of the now SIX candies that are required, the last achivement I needed for the title. I was on the path to glory, and that one achivement gave me a hard time. Now I miss the drake by even less. =/Short holidays suck imo, unfair QQ.Edit: grammer, also, why do people bother typing "Edit:"?
I support this change, and anyone who doesn't IS the whiner...Seeing as how that achievement was added in AFTER the actual event..so only people who were in beta(etc.) would have even know about it.I for one, missed every event until now...so i'd have to wait till next feb. to even get it, so it doesn't affect me much. But I agree with it.-Seref
geez i think people need to stop complaning if u didnt get it suck up and get it next time iv busted my butt to get the achivments the first time around and i dont plan on stoping now. and i think they are catering to the few or many who are QQing about not getting it just because of one or 2and it kind of sucks for the DKs out there but they should wait till next year to finish up not blizz'es fault WOTLK came out after
