I finally finished the achievement about 5hrs after the event officially ended. Guards and npcs maintained their ability to reward pledges until somebody had used it (ie. they did not respawn after use once the event was over) so I was able to camp out a lesser visited area of Thunder Bluff and get a few more attempts in with my remaining perfume charges. The last thing I needed was "hot lips". Took me 6 bags of candies to get it all up. Horrible achievement.
Got my "I LOVE YOU" piece of candy shortly before the event ended and got my Love Fool achievement. /wipebrow Phew!
It's sad that a holiday based on love has gotten so many people angry. One person even posted they had canceled their account because they couldn't finish one of the achievements. I read that and I was incredulous. I hope they were just venting, but if it was true...talk about wild overreactions...I didn't get all of the achievements myself (I'm not high enough level to get ones like I Pitied the Fool) but I still had fun giving out valentines, getting my heart broken and mending others' broken hearts. I was one heart short of getting Be Mine! but I did get a Lovely Black Dress which my shaman looks smashing in and a Romantic Picnic Basket for next year when I can reach Dalaran! Thanks a lot for this great guide. It was invaluable. I can't wait for the next seasonal event!
Not just one person has said they canceled, and it's not just over one seasonal event. Several people have been expressing an overall disatisfaction, boredom, or loss of interest in the game since the expac so it isn't too surprising that this event comes along and they get knocked out of a year long achievement chain that they would go ahead and decide that it isn't worth it to play anymore. I don't blame them at all. I myself have been playing alot less than I used to, I'm not even sure I can express what all it is that is making it less fun to me in any truly encompassing way. I can highlight a few things though. 1) Too many changes too fast. Yea the game had things that changing doesn't hurt, but alot of change fast is a bit intimidating, even if the changes are a good thing in and of themselves 2) Doling out content/Revertion of difficulty They can't apparently produce the entirety of an expac and release it all at once, they do it in bits and pieces...thats nothing new it's how they've always done it...however..going back to raiding 101 is frustratingly easy for experienced raiders, and at the same time hearing/seeing nothing but 'omg this is too EZ' is understandably frustrating for newcomers who are trying to gear and learn encounters for the very first time having never experienced raid encounter mechanics before. The new people and the elitists are stuck on the same level of content with no higher ceiling than beginner content so neither group is exactly happy.3) The achievers vs the don't cares flame wars. This has been an interesting division in the wow population all along (well, as long as I've been playing but it seemed a well established split when I first started) and it just didnt get any real attention until there were rewards attached. The level of aggravation and griefing from both sides makes both lose satisfaction with the game, its a sad thing :( Used to I only ever saw it in ingame chat, but then I don't often frequent the official forums because sadly...going there makes me not want to play the game due to the awful community and the often uncaring responses to posters by game master staff (that is of course entirely how I see it and could be interpreted very differently) backed by shoe-licking ravenous forum troll fanboys.4) Using rng to limit the number of people getting the violet proto-drake is just the most insane thing I've ever seen written in blue on the official forums. If I had been working towards the drake and saw that message...I probably would have canceled as well. I just absolutely cannot believe that a company would do that to its customers and straight up blab it out in their own public forum. Its ludicrous in my opinion. It's a purple pixel drake, having more than X number in game isn't going to crash the system...Anyone who works at it for a year (if they knocked out rng) 2 for that matter if they aren't in brew club, is going to adore that drake for how hard they worked to get it...no matter if there are 10 others parked on krasus landing beside them.We don't have to do a /roll to see if our boss is going to spawn each instance we do, we don't have to /roll to see if we get gold for our dailies, blizz employees don't have to /roll to see if they get a paycheck.....players shouldn't be removed from a year long meta because of bad /roll imo
this is an amazing statement and i think blizzard should take it into account that at least 35% of there subscribers feel the exactly the same. hopefully this achievment will be removed from the meta like the 20 mask achievments was.I was one of those people who logged in every hour of the event and i only recieved one candy bag creating only 5 of the candies, i obtained 45 lovley black dresses however and 21 lovley picnic baskets.the violet proto drake is what was keeping me playing this game. im bored of raiding. pvp is just to one sided atm and getting fun and cool items was all i really ever loved in this game. i however have hope that blizzard will remove this achievment because they did not fix it to 6/8 ike they said i have my hopes that in the next small patch it will be removed from the meta and bring back hope to all of you who were screwed by a double RNG
