About 5 mos ago, I REALLY wanted a firefly pet. (The rare one that drops in Zangarmarsh.)I grinded every day for 2 mos straight, about 2 hours each day. I had decided that is wasn't worth it, that I could get a better pet somewhere else, and was killing a firefly that had knocked me off my mount. Sure enough, I looted captured firefly. That is definitely the hardest I have worked on this game, and would consider the grind truly EPIC.
My guild powered through molten core in its heyday. We were pretty much all in blues with the exception of our tanks, with a few epics here and there. I'd worked for weeks to farm up the materials for black dragonscale FR gear, and the night of my first Ragnaros kill I got the leaf for the Rhok'delar quest. There was a black sinew in the guild bank, so I was immediately able to start the quest. This is when all the demons were on long timers, so it took weeks of camping the spawn points (and getting wiped by alliance) but finally I got my bow. I was one of the few on the server with that bow, back when it was really hard to do the quest. It was a point of pride, and a badge of accomplishment. I still have screenshots of me in my beaststalker's helm and Rhok'delar.
I am going to start this story off with the fact i am not a raider, with the exception of world PvP, I am simply a kid who is a WoW addict, and loves WoWhead /wink wink. If you didn't like that first part please do not read and/or make fun of my article because it truly was an experience i will never forget. The most epic lewt that has dropped for me was my Horseman's Reigns. The only problem is i am telling this epic tale of want and getting but not having about when I was playing my friends Shadow Priest named Gummibears. My friend had not done HH on the last day of the event so i offered him my assistance since i had done it everyday on my own character and really was starting to enjoy the fight. I P.U.G. fairly quickly and we head off. Mind you this was at 10 o'clock so we couldn't mess around before we started. First summon ring, second summon hollowed helm, I was ecstatic since i got my friend the one item he really needed, for the title "The Hollowed," Third summon more rings, fourth horseman's blade, last it was my turn to summon(this is where it gets hard to believe) HORSEMAN'S REIGNS! But now just to win the roll.... We decided for everyone to need so no ninjas could steal, first roll is a 93, ouch I thought it was over for sure, second 36, the guys started swearing and left the group, third guy got a 99, I couldn't believe my eyes, he was in my guild and he started yelling in vent I GOT IT! I GOT IT! fourth guy rolls a 67, last but not least me, i hit the button slowly and I roll a 100. I am still in shock over it as i write this over a month later. The only problem is it was not on my character. I started calling my friend while my guildy started crying in vent. After everything was settled i realized, this is his character isn't it? FAIL! I guess i knew it already but i just realized it. So now i am stuck with no mount worth even mounting for, yes i am using a timber wolf. This is why I deserve the loot card and the story about the most epic lewt ever. My friend now wont even loan me money for my epic mount, i need to either farm one from PvP or save up myself... Im only lvl 67... I took a break after hollow's eve.... i really would like this mount since I just spent an hour hittin refresh on my email. Thanks even though I will NEVER win i just wanted to put my two bits in. Good luck and grats to whoever gets the last one
Snowmelt Silken Cinch... and then it dropped again right after - same run.
So my guild had been working on Hyjal for awhile and we had finally downed Anetheron, and had just made it to Kaz'rogal. After many epic fails on the trash we finally make it to the boss, and for the 70% everything was going fine. Then everyone started dying until we were all dead at with Kaz at 20%. Everyone was really &*!@ed and started to release but then we realized that thrall was still alive, with 90% life. We sat and watched as Thrall downed Kaz, even though we had all wiped. It was the most epic battle, and then on top of that I got Hammer of Atonement, so all in all it was a ridiculous boss fight.
The most epic of all epics is "love". While this item is certainly not corporeal - or at least that's what the most of us would think - it certainly is lootable. So let's all loot that epic item and bank it in our epic hearts.
My most "Epic" loot/item was the "Furbolg Medicine Pouch" after days of farming Furbolgs in Felwood my level 10 druid got it.. :)
My favorite epic drop that I have received would have to be the headless horseman's mount =] I think it looks awesome and it matches my title "the hallowed" quite nicely I might add ^_^
The Elegant Dress was quite an epic find for me. I might have rotted out teeth due to all the candy I found in the eggs but I sure do look purty in my little pink dress!
Appropriately, the polar bear mount I got today from my goody bag. I told my guild mate to tell the Vrykul ladies to give me my bear, and lo and behold, there it was.
The most epic items I ever got were http://www.wowhead.com/?item=30894 and http://www.wowhead.com/?item=30895. They were the first piece of High end raiding equips I ever got. I'll never disenchant/sell/delete/etc 'em.What really makes me hurt though that was epic was when I got invited to WotLK beta and to still know of all the Loot/time/levels are gone. I enjoyed myself only good thing.
all the starting quest gear you get as a death knight, sure its only rare, but it seems really epic acquireing it all
The most epic loot drop I ever received was as Krol Blade. I remember talking with a guild member about how much I wanted one for my rogue but at the time the asking price on the auction house was around 800 gold. This was all prior to any expansion, even before I hit level 60.Not even fifteen minutes after talking with my guild mate about this awesome sword he sends me a tell saying "Hey, look what just dropped: . I'm thinking he's just messing with me "ha ha...I reply". We were both in Eastern Plague lands and he meets up with me, opens a trade window and tosses the sword in. He gave it to me 100% free of charge, I could not believe it! WOW my first epic! And it's a Krol Blade! I still have that sword in my bank. I'll never get rid of it.
It was definately Benison, now nown as Benediction...The most amazing weapon for a priester - at all time :)
waaaaay back in the day when we first raided Molten Core an Aurastone Hammer dropped for us from Garr.. it was the first one on the server and the first raid epic weapon we had seen. I blew my dkp wad and won it! Was super stoked =)
This one time I posted myself a comment on wowhead.com about getting a bear mount. And I kid you not two days later I got an e-mail saying "YOU WON A BEAR MOUNT" and I went OMG ZOINKS BEST EPIC LOOT EVER! Warning: This may or may not have happened depending on chance circumstances and the fact that the future is unknown.
Last day?:(My mostestestest epic loot is totally http://www.wowhead.com/?item=21025. It's the only EPIC cooking recipe. It also has a PANDA on the front cover! Who doesn't like pandas? Doesn't get more epic than that!
It didn't seem right, here I am, at the top of my game, and my alter-ego, the warlock had nothing... Before I began my adventure I saw an amazing companion, the prettiest thing I've ever seen, a tiny little ball of ooze that made it's owner glow green with it's very presence. I never thought I would ever get it, I wasn't very good at being a hero, or an adventurer, and I cut up Nightbane into a wonderful fire-breathing shield, it was time my alter-ego got some attention. So I asked around, I found out where I could claim such an extraordinary companion. I didn't think it could be done. After hours and hours, covered in ooze and gooze, I never thought I would see it. Days passed, it became an obsession, I wouldn't even aid my allies in reclaiming Karazhan again. I had to see this companion, if not for me, for my other self!Bag after bag, hope after hope, opened and thrown aside, nothing...Then, after I determined the best way to countinue this obsession I found the small thing, hiding deep inside of the bag. I withdrew it, placed it in another bag, and sent it to my alter ego, who recieved it with glee...Now, everytime I see an Ooze, I have to temporarily leave my mind for a 'Bio' as my allies call it, so I can vomit. Never again will I attempt to claim such a rare companion.~*~Now my alter-ego has taken over, and in her efforts has claimed more epic-loots for herself because she's selfish along with tossing the headless horseman off of his mount and claiming it as her own, to fishing up a giant sewer rat...She's selfish- it's okay, I love her anyway. I need some rest anyway.
This happened the other day. We were doing the timed heroic Culling of Stratholme, and we completed in on time. I won the dragon mount. I had never even heard of that mount. It was EPIC.
Mine was during this last Hallow's End. This being the first year I've played WOW and my gnome mage was fast approuching 70 but not still had a couple levels to go. I got a call from some quild mates that asked if I would like to do the Headless Horsemen quest. That truly made me feel like a part of the guild and I gladly accepted. The Headless Horsemen was one heck of a fight! It was the best battle I've had the pleasure of taking part in to date. Four 70's and my lowly 68 mage seemed to take forever to knock him down only to have him comeback again and again till finally he was laid low. The Horseman's Signet Ring was my first epic and one that I will always remember.
