Yet another great guide...this will really help me out when i will skill up cooking
lovely guide :D
Legendary, very detailed as always.
yes, lovely guide, but afaik your cooking skill should be 375 if you skilled cooking in outland.speaking of outland - the daily cooking quest do have improved imho, since you hardly have to leave dalaran to complete them. cooking qs in outland sent you all over the continent, so a definite improvement there...
Hail to the Chef is only missing one achievement at the moment, which is The Northrend Gourment (part 3). Chef de Cuisine is not required for Hail to the Chef, only it's predecessor (Sous Chef) is.
I sense a certain amount of anger ... Could someone get Miyari and Gordon Ramsay in the same room to make sure they're not one and the same?
Nice guide. Unfortunately I'm stuck at around 420 myself, and the last time I made a full stack of some green-level buff food I didn't get a single skill point. It's indeed quite annoying. Also, I'd add that the carrots for Sewer Stew are trackable with Find Herbs. It's one of the easier quests IMO. ;)edit: Right, the mustard and 'shrooms are too. So yes, herbalism does help quite a bit with these.
Also, I'd add that the carrots for Sewer Stew are trackable with Find Herbs. It's one of the easier quests IMO. ;)So is the mustard for the mustard dogs, and the mushrooms for the meatloaf. Makes me wish there were cooking ingredient plants scattered through the world that we could use for vegetarian dishes, that anyone could pick but herbalists could track.
At this point, every single recipe will be either green or gray (which is totally useless) so expect to do a lot of farming for a lot of meat/fish for your skill points. Not entirely true .. Critter bites are actually yellow a good bit up .. I think 'till 425 but this needs confirmation ..Abyways from there on you can create great feast or small feast which should be orange/yellow 'till 450 .. or at least close to ..
Easiest way to get 450 cooking skill is Recipe: Snapper Extreme. Bonescale Snappers are quite cheap and I made Realm First by using those and farming northern spices with alts. It's Green skillup all the way to the end.
I have personally only cooked 31 Northrend recipes of the 46 and counted what's left and I found that you can only acquire what looks like 42 total recipes so far in Northrend. So I'm hoping they add 4 more recipes (which the following seem to be missing: Shoveltusk Soup, Succulent Orca Stew, Kungaloosh, and Fish Feast) so that I can finally be Chef Tutonious :DThis is the only achievement holding me back from wearing my chef cap proudly in Dalaran with my Kirin Tor Familiar by my side lol
Not entirely true .. Critter bites are actually yellow a good bit up .. I think 'till 425 but this needs confirmation ..Nope, green at 420 for me.
I had a friend in my guild who got the Realm First for Firetree a while back; if memory serves, he got it a little over a week into LK. I remember because he comissioned me, the only 375 fisherman that was on, to do a little late-night fishing for him.See, he did the math, and figured that, given most people's leveling styles, it would take most people at least 1-2 days to get to 74 and able to get into Dalaran to start doing dailies. Even those who were aiming for the achievement had the same limitations as he did, and that limitation was the Dalaran Cooking Awards. He needed 3 for the Gigantic Feast recipe, 3 for at least one recipe to get him up to 425, and everything else for the spices, which I think he ended up spending at least 12 or so over two characters. Well, the primary ingredient of Gigantic Feasts are Deep Sea Monsterbellies and Rockfin Groupers, which ONLY spawn out at sea, just south of the Borean Tundra, and require at least 480 fishing to fish there.I'll say this; I hadn't started leveling fishing when he asked for my help, so even with my rod and my fishing daily lures and liquor, I still had to watch missed catch after missed catch for five straight hours one night, then four more the next day. It was all worth it, though, seeing my pal get Realm First Cooking. Although he doesn't have a Chef title yet (Damn Stormchops!) he almost exclusively prepares the Feasts for each and every raid now, so he has become our guild's resident chef!
Not entirely true .. Critter bites are actually yellow a good bit up .. I think 'till 425 but this needs confirmation ..Nope, green at 420 for me.Found in 10 seconds:http://www.wowhead.com/?item=43004, it becomes green at 415.
Great guide.Though I found a small error, in the guide you say:"craft either Shoveltusk Steak (Borean Tundra) or Rhino Dogs (Howling Fjord)"when it should be:"craft either Shoveltusk Steak (Howling Fjord) or Rhino Dogs (Borean Tundra)"
OM NOM NOMGreat guide.
Great guide for sure! But Blizzard nerfs some meat drops like Chilled Meat. Initially I give about 80% drops from these at Rams near Fort Wildervar (snow areas). Actually I'll give 40% with lucky. Today I need to farm 12 of to the daily quest in Dalaran (Convention at The Legendermain), spend about a hour to get all 12 meats. Normally I did it in 15min or less.About the Dailies in Dalaran: not difficult at all, 'cause the items is easy to farm (except for some drop rates that blizzard has nerfed). Or for some players the way is AH, but normally the prices are insane high 'cause the dailies. But at least one of requires no trips or AH visits to get (Cheese for Glowergold).PS: sorry for my bad english, not my native language.
Great guide, as always. I would like to note, however, that Chef de Cuisine is not a pre-requisite of Hail to the Chef.
YAY cooking guide =D<3 Wowhead
Cool guide, i'm a big fan of cooking too. I made grinding up cooking on my DK one of my priorities early on and I'm glad i did it but I agree with a lot of the points you've made... there should definitely be a better way of hitting 450 than this but on the other hand I'm really happy with the changes bliz has made to cooking. It's come a long way from the days of a 15 min crappy 12stam/spi buff. :)
