Mine would have to be Thunderfury. When the first binding dropped, no one in the raid wanted it, and I received many tells saying I was insane for investing the time and resources needed for such a thing.Things changed when I finally completed it SIX MONTHS LATER (low percentage drops ftl) and the jealousy flowed freely, moreso because I'm a Paladin :) While WOLK has rendered it pretty much ineffective, I still carry it for special occasions.
My favorite epic is my new belt from heroic AN first lvl 80 epic yay.
my first epic i got while farming rep, hurricane bow
Most epic drop for me would probably be when i got my 70 flyer, as soon as i hit 70 i flew to SMV ( on normal flightpath ) and bought the green windrider, that was what i call EPIC.
Another one of my "Epic" loot items, was picking pockets in Azshara, for quite a few days, to get my ever wonderful pet rock. I finally pick pocketed it off a Timbermaw Shaman that just killed a hordie. I have the "Pet rock of Horde Slaying"! XD
Back before WotLK, I was levelling a dps warrior that to this day remains my main toon. All my guildies were already 70, but were helping me get to Outland. One of the early runs was Zul'Farrak, where I was told I'd be very lucky if even one piece of Sul'thraze The Lasher dropped. One Zul'Farrak run. When Sang'thraze the Deflector dropped, everyone in the party was amazed that it happened on my first run-through.Then, later in the same run, Jang'thraze the Protector dropped...and jaws hit the floor! (including mine)Granted, by the time I hit Zangarmarsh I'd replaced this as my main weapon. But we still talk about this, and to this day Sul'thraze The Lasher sits in my bank.
i finnaly got my horse at level 40 on my warrior, pre bc. i was so happy that i rode it all the way to goldshire to show it off. a few minutes later the server reset back a few minutes so i was in stormwind without my horse. i had to run back and go get my horse again, but it was still epic!
.
It would prolly have to be my second Dragon's call. One day I was on my 15th run of the day in ST I got first dragon's call and i was like WOOOT. a while later i got my lvl 50 rogue quest and was like crap i gotta go back. And when i went back i got my second dragon's call (:
The day i heard about the captured firefly i HAD to have it so i went out and for about 1-3 hours everyday i would come home from school and farm it for 3 weeks . Finally one day when i was AFK I had my pet on defensive and he killed it when i came back I looted the corpse and BAM! I had one finally =]
When loot cards were largely unheard of to the general player, I managed to get my hands on an epic tabbard. Guildies would post their superior epic weapons/armor, at which point I'd link my tabbard, and all hell would break loose. =P
The most epic loot I've ever had drop is a Dwarven Hand Cannon. I mean, come on, it's awesome. Unfortunately, the loot went to my rogue friend, who was sitting next to me at the local internet cafe - I don't hold it against him. Speaking over Ventrilo, on of our guildmates asks a question:Warrior: "What dropped?"Rogue: "My Dwarven Hand Cannon."Warrior: "Awesome! Where is it? Show it off?'Rogue: "Where do you think? It's in my bag."Self: "That's not the right answer, man."Rogue: "You're Right. It's in my pants."Warrior: "Um..."Rogue: "Still want to see my Dwarven Hand Cannon?"
I farmed the Timbermaw Cave Pre-BC, about Patch 1.7, it took me about 4 months in total of 5 hours played every day, staying in my room for long hours without anything to eat and just water, and when I finally hit exalted, the neighborhood shook, because I yelled so loud. I got the trinket and then I stripped naked and danced on the bank stairs in IF. Good Times :D
I remember back in the day, when I was but a wee troll hunter... My and a pug was tryin to do Razorfen Kraul. When we got to the first boss, the warrior tank switched to berserker stance to " do more dps". That would have been bad enough, but up till now the healer (Druid) hadn't really needed to heal much, so I hadn't really paid attention to him. After looking at his gear, I realized he was feral specced, and had almost no mana. We tried to attempt the boss anyway. The tank was quickly killed due to his lack of health and the healers lack of heals. The boss then quickly killed the healer and started to attack the other dps. Luckily, I was able to have my bear get aggro, and mend pet and bandage him until the other dps were able to take down the pig. I got a Thornspike, which was fairly good for that level, much better than anything else I had at least.
The most epic drop for me was probably when I finally had my Disgusting Oozeling drop after a 9-day farming session. I was so happy that day. My little Oozy still resides with me.
ProbablyyWhen i got my shadowcraft pants on my rogue Pre Bc. Not only did it take about a month of running around 5-7 Stratholme runs a day. But when they finally DID drop the whole group but me was left and i had to evasion tank the last bit and killed him. The hunter then rolled need saying they were an "upgrade" even though he had his Tier 0 pants. I was none too pleased and rolled but still won. Thereafter i was able to upgrade them to my Darkmantle Pants which are EPIC. :DStill never got that damn mount from Baron :(
For me, my epic loot was the Thunder, yes the Blacksmithing Two-Handed Mace. It took me days and days to farm the mats to make it. Then finally I had all that i needed to make it, after that I never put it down until my second quest in Northrend which gave me a Mace that blew it out of the water....still worth it though.
I think the most epic loot i've acquired would have to be the Headless horsemens mount. After days on days of farming and trick or treating trying to get the dang sinister squashling ( I wasnt after the mount, only the "Hallowed title") The mount dropped and I had no idea he had a special loot drop, I won it and i was just in awwwwww no way!
One of my most epic items was my Tear Stained Handkerchief. For some reason, I just started laughing when I first saw it. I still have it for novelty reasons ;).
Blizzard had just released tier .5, and my buddies and I needed a 45-minute Baron run to advance in the quest chain. It was me (Elemental Shaman), two Combat Rogues, and a Holy Priest. We couldn't find a tank, so we grabbed a PuG Mage, and I proceeded to tank a 45-minute Baron run (all of us in dungeon and AH blues). I was wearing the offset PvP blues with boosted Armor, and using Rockbiter + Earth Shock spam to hold aggro. (lulz)I'm not sure how we managed it, but we squeeked in just under 45 minutes, and successfully downed Baron Rivendare to get our .5 epic shoulders. AND, as if to confirm our epic accomplishment, Baron dropped a Hand of Edward the Odd for me, which to this very day occupies a prestigious slot in my bank.Edit: This was back when HoEtO's proc was Chance on Hit: Your next spell cast within 15s becomes instant. Incredible 1h for a Shaman back in the day. Whenever I was ready to leave AV, I'd find a Paladin to fight, wait for it to proc, /bye, and instahearth.^^ Closest I could come to bubble+hearth on my Shaman.
