If you are alliance and you want the Old Crafty achievement, here is a tip:When you are on the Wrathgate quest-chain you are being send on a diplomatic mission to Orgrimmar and the NPC's won't attack you! While I was doing that quest I made sure to complete the following achievements:-Old Crafty (took a couple of hours)-Fishing Diplomat (takes one catch in Orgrimmar)-Ragefire Chasm (can be done in less than 5 minutes when you are above level 70)that's an awesome tip, yet can players still attack you?i dont think so, i think for a temporary duration you have a 'insignia of the horde" that looks like you have the horde PVP symbol by your portrait, but im not completey sure i havent seen anyone come to Orggrimmar yetI'm pretty sure you are phased for that event. So no other players can see you. I wish I would have thought to do that while I was there.
Unfortunately the place where the El's site is hosted has had a few problem over the last 2 hours. I hope the site will be back up shortly. Apologies for the inconvenience.(And nice write-up, Miyari.)Good to have you, El. :)
its cool :P
i have found the miracle to get old crafty lol works for allys or horde when u have the fishing dailey to get the baby croc go to org and turn off autoloot or you possibly mess the whole process up in other words whenever u get the croc dont loot just cast again and u will get bolth at the same time i have done this with 4 toons and gotten him normally in under 15mins just gotta have babycroc fishing dailey to kill the time way down
Great post Miyari!Yes an awsome & informative post, thank you very much appreiciated !More importantly, I really want to thank you for posting this Link.I have been looking for ages now on WoWhead & Thottbot with 0 luck :--Holy Grail of fishing poles - the Mastercraft Kalu'ak Fishing Pole! That's right - an epic fishing pole! This amazing pole can be obtained after raising your reputation to Exalted with the Kalu'ak faction. Can anyone plz tell me where i can find Mastercraft Kalu'ak Fishing Pole & Who & Need to speak with & I'm which zone/zone's.Thanks to anyone who post's a reply for me.I also want to start getting into fishing for the STV Fishing Competitions & Own ya all :-p.I have only just started to Level my fishing i think im 150 now (not sure) I find it boring but i know there is money to be made even at fishing skill 30-50 esily done at level 5-7.TIP! For low level fisher's out there as soon as you get 30-50 (50 is best) head to WC (Wailing Caverns) near Crossroads north west side. There is a small pond out side & 2 ponds inside.Almost every cat you will catch a Deviate Fish, which on my server sells for 1 to 3.5 Gold each !I fished for 40-50 minuites & caught 4 x 20 Deviate Fish = 65+ Gold on AH in 24 hours whhile i continued to level XP & Fishing. My fishing skill if memory serves correct was 75 & I only used a Bright Bauble for a lore. Not bad for a level 11 Huh? xD. Good Luck TIP! DON'T! Flood the AH with all your fish at once, doing this will lower the price, just sell 20-30 every 24 hours, that way you will have a steady cashflow in your mail every day you log on.LOL. I should charge real ££'s for this type of Info but i'm not a greedy gamer, i like to help as long as i'm happy to do it i will continue.Be carefull out there, some gamers (ninja's mostly Rogue's) NEVER send the items to the buyer unless it COD (that way they HAVE to pay).Same goes for trade channel. E.g. WTB 100 Deviate Fish for 50G, this is an ok deal its average price (but if you scann AH & it is selling more place on AH insead) Unless the buyer will up his offer /w him/her how much you can get on AH compared to their offer, then come to a deal arrangement ;-) .NEVER! Trade items for sale to anyone who will tell you, i want them but need to log on my main (unless you trust them) it has happened to me i lost 450Gold, i trusted his word, i traded, he said be right back with main, do you think he loged on to pay me?PFftt did he hell as like & now he is /ignore.Last tip:- If you are fishing for Deviate's, it is also a good idea to buy the Coocking Recipies from undercity (hord) Iron Forge (Alliance). You can buy as low as 50s each & sell for 4-7G 6-8G 7-12G at the AH depending on the recipie's. BEST TIP:- 2 addons will really help with this, they are.Auctioneer - Scan the AH for the best prices & competition, supply vs demand.FishingBuddy - Fishing Mod - Also look for the FuBar Addon.I hope these help you in any way as they have for myself.GOOD LUCK & Thx to anyone who posts a reply to my question.Esterel Belf Retradin- Since 3.0 Paladins Kick Ars IMBA ! LOVE IT!
(ninja's mostly Rogue's) Leave rogues alone.
It will take hours. But, if you are only interested in leveling your fishing skill only; then do not fish in high level fish area / places. If you are Horde: fish inside Ogrimar City.If you are Alliance: fish inside Ironforge City. You get skill points by the number of successful fishing casts you do. -(At level 70 have to get ~10 fishes for 1 skill point.)- So fishing in the lower level areas (where you will catch a fish every time you cast) will be much quicker skill up points than fishing anywhere you don't get a fish each time you cast.Down side to only fishing in lower areas (such as the cities) is you don't get any cook able fish that will give you a cooking skill point. *Though, after maxing out your fishing skill -with the right equipment- it wont make a big difference where you go to fish for 'fish' afterward. Happy fishing.
For shame Miyari http://www.wowhead.com/?item=34832 you missed what could be the anglers best friend in those long hours, either RL or not, heh. BTW this cooking recipe is a reward from Old Man Barlo's dailies
I didn't know about the Giant Sewer Rat pet. Now I have to go get it.Also, excellent guide!
when I reached 150 on my fishing I could no longer get training or level any further, any clues would be accepted
@mackbeak you are missing the fishing book. Go to Booty Bay or get it from the AH if you don't want to go there, but you'll pay considerably more.Edit: Forgot to say, great guide!
3 hours for leveling fishing from 375 to 450 seems a bit fast. I did it in 4.5 hours and seen a lot of posts of people who did it in 4 - 5 hours. I got the achievement Realm First! Grand Master Angler after I did this, but it was taken away again, because it was bugged.I think it's too bad the Epic fishing pole from the Kalu'ak has only +30 fishing, while the one from the Extravaganza has +35. Ofcourse getting exalted everyone can do with time, but the Extravaganza is harder.I got the title Salty a few days ago and I'd like to post my stats for the achievements I did.- Fish Don't Leave Footprints: Fished in the Floating Wreckage pools and found a chest eventually which contained the skill.- The Old Gnome and the Sea: Easy achievement, not much to say about.- The Scavenger: Some pools are quite rare and hard to find, but if you look up the location it isn't too hard.- Master Angler of Stranglethorn: You need quite a bit of dedication to win this. I've won it 4 times now.- Old Ironjaw: Just fish in IF for a long, long time. Took me 1546 casts to get it. Might be a little tricky for hordes.- Old Crafty: There is a bug related to this achievement. Get the quest Crocolisks in the City and you will catch this fish likely within 10 casts. I used this bug to catch him, since I didn't like being ganked in Orgrimmar the whole time.- The Fishing Diplomat: Easy to complete if you're going for Old Crafty aswell.- The Deadliest Catch: I went to Zul'gurub twice. First time to start the quest, and second time to fish up the boss. Water walking came in handy here.- The Lurker Above: Went in Serpentshrine Cavern with Water Walking pots so the fish couldn't bother me. - One That Didn't Get Away: This is quite a big achievement. You can pretty much catch one of the fish everywhere. I think I was quite on the low end with 990 casts for a 15 Pound Mud Snapper from Crystal Lake, Elwynn Forest.- Old Man Barlowned: Just keep doing daily's for some time untill you've had them all.- Outland Angler: Most pools are pretty easy to find, you just need high enough skill to catch one.- Mr. Pinchy's Magical Crawdad Box: It takes a lot of casts for some people to even get a Mr. Pinchy. When you get one the chance is about 3/5 that you will get the pet. I got really lucky to get 3 Mr. Pinchy's in 115 casts, and found the pet in the 2nd Mr. Pinchy.- Northrend Angler: Takes some trouble to do before lvl 77, as you need to go through high lvl mobs to reach some pools, and you have to visit most of the zones to get them all.- The Coin Master: The job to keep fishing in the Dalaran fountain until you get that last damn coin. Took me 1002 casts to get them all. With a requirement of 525 skill it's hard to use 25 lures without really good gear.- Accomplished Angler: After all this, the title "Salty" was mine :D
There is another way to get the Old Crafty achievement for Alliance players that is alot faster but a little more risky. Someone on my realm (Haomarush) told me to try this and it totally worked. Check the daily fishing quests in Outland, and when the Crocks in the City one comes up go to Orgrimmar at a time when you think it's safe (I went at 4am on a Sunday morning). Fish in the one pool they have and you should start seeing the Crock come up in the first few casts. Every time it shows up don't take it, just close the window and fish again. Repeat this process until Old Crafty shows up. I got Old Crafty in less than 5 casts and it only took about 2 minutes. Give it a try and see if it works for you. Hopefully it still does as I did this right before Wrath came out. Also, if someone else posted this trick earlier I apologize and am not trying to steal your thunder, I'm honestly just too lazy to read all the previous posts.
(At level 70 have to get ~10 fishes for 1 skill point.)-wrongYou can typically expect to spend somewhere around three hours raising your Fishing skill from 375 to 450. Skill-ups are gained typically every 10 or so successful castsThis information is incorrect. Fishing skill ups are actually very rigidly defined as a number of SUCCESSFUL catches per point. The formula is:Number of Catches = (Current Skill - 75) / 251) Think of this as either "rounding up" or add a "+1 base" catch to the formula to get the exact number. I.E. 1-75 takes one catch, 76-100 takes 2 catches each, etc....2) "Fish Got Away" catches DO NOT COUNT.Using this formula, you can see that 376->400 take 14 catches each, 401->425 take 15, and 426->450 take 16.That is a total of 1,125 fish from 375->450.A cast takes a max of ~20 seconds to catch a fish. I've averaged about 3.5 fish a minute since they changed fishing to always have a catch, including loot time, recasting, and RNG "bobs." Other people might get more or less. However, with my number, catching 1,125 fish would take a minimum of 5 hours 21 minutes and 26 seconds, not 3 hours.
nice guide :D
good stuff =D
Each daily rewards 500 reputation with the Kalu'ak and they are all quite easy! Starting on either side of Northrend, you can take the Giant Turtle to each camp and make your daily rounds.where is this giant turtle?

I sat there leveling my fishing and counting the number of successful catches between each skillup past like 325, which is where my number comes from. In any case, I updated my post. Also, the Giant Turtles can be found at the docks of any of the three names major Kalu'ak villages.
in my opinion, Crawdad is cooler :> Goodluck with "hunting" anyway xD
I only need 14k more points to be Exalted with the Kalu'ak and I really, really want the Mastercraft Kalu'ak Fishing Pole, but my fishing skill is only 170 right now. Where do I need to go first to get my fishing skill up over 170?
