Most impotent things to learn from this is that Tyrande has a kink for blindfolds. And Surfangs's honor nonsense will bite him in the butt soon.
Yes, they removed the word "capture" from Sylvanas quotes after the battle - which is both good and bad for the story.Good, because the "capture" never made any sense in the first place. The former versions said: "Capturing the city and killing the leaders would have ended the war before it began - but burning the city and not killing the leaders does not" - which is just bull#$%^. So it's good that it is gone.Bad, because even with the capture gone the whole "motive" of not going into full out global war if you just manage to take down Tyrande, Malfurion and Genn ontop of destroying the city is just as bad as the capture bull!@#$. So far, none of these three have ANY appearance in the BFA story after the Teldrassil campaign. It's plenty obvious that there can be a war without them.The justification for the first strike remains weak.With the new version of the quotes it really seems like Sylvanas was primarilly there because of Tyrande and Malfurion. Why? Maybe because these two are the most dangerous to her REAL plans of plunging Azeroth into darkness? Illidan calling them to become Azeroth's guardians after he's gone could be read as such.Whatever....the problem i have with the lines is that the justification for the first strike is still not there."End a war before it begins!"How?"By capturing the city and killing the leaders!"Wait....what?"Ok, forget that....we will destroy the city AND kill the leaders!".....and this will end war...how?"Just shut up already, OK? On orcish honor, I think everyone who thinks the attack is dishonorable is forgetting or ignoring 10+ years of context. When the orcs settled in Durotar they barely had the resources to keep from starving and had to fight all the locals for every scrap of land. Except for Ashenvale and the Night Elves whom Thrall attempted to negotiate with for use of the forest for hunting and logging. The Night Elves flatly refused, attacking orcs that ventured into Ashenvale in sight, and alligning with the Alliance in a joint attempt to keep Thrall's new Horde weak and downtrodden. (History lesson: post WW1 Germany). This directly led to Garrosh as the orcs got tired of Thrall's failing diplomacy as they starved. So the Horde as a whole sees the Alliance as constantly denying then the right to exist unmolested (Nathanos has some pretty good lines on the Forsaken point of view on the same idea), despite throwing in with them on joint threats to the world. The Horde got their asses handed to them at the Broken Shore and the Alliance blames them for not dying for a tactical advantage that they benefited from, and Genn foiled Sylvanis's plans at Forsaken continuance, as merely the latest examples. So conquering Teldrassil is a direct response to the Alliance's eternal indirect aggression. Seems perfectly reasonable to me, so long as you accept the premise that orcs and Forsaken deserve to continue existing.To sum up, I'm not really defending any particular action, but rather saying that the characters have their own reasons and justifications for their actions, within the contexts of their own lives.
