So from the looks of it, we skipped two different world bosses, Ana-Mouz and Nazak the Fiend. The only way I see that being reasonable is when they accidentally let Withered J'im spawn twice in a row, it reset the whole thing under a different order? Is this possible?

Comment by Ovahealz

I feel like the Suramar world bosses won't be up until the nighthold or we go further into the suramar questline. Nazak spawns right on Meredil and Ana on Fel Soul Hold. Maybe they'll have a different spawn timer or we need to go further in the nightfallen questline.

BTW Why not add a direct link to the Today in the Broken Isles part of the website? It's easier.

Comment by Remembrance2

Another reasonable explanation is that it's pure RNG and not rotation-based.

They spawn randomly. There is no set order for them to spawn.

No shovels, no outlined areas, nothing.

My map no longer shows the red circle for an archaeology area on the larger world map, but I still see the small shovels. When I get to an area with the digsite the red circle area shows on the mini-map. Is it possible you're using something like HandyNotes and treasures are covering the shovel icons? I noticed on alts where I haven't bothered collecting treasures that the shovels are sometimes underneath the icons for the treasure. Maybe not, but something I thought to suggest.

Given what they said about J'im it's probably weighted RNG, so neither pure RNG nor rotation based. The longer a boss hasn't shown up, the higher the chance it will, while last weeks boss is supposed to have a 0% chance of being selected again(the part that didn't work with J'im).

Any word on if Blizz is going to actually make this doable? No shovels, no outlined areas, nothing. Apparently it was intentionally implemented. Changing Archaeology to cater to people willing to scour an entire zone glaring at their minimap is entirely counter to Blizz's idea of making WoW more accessible. I can't fathom why they would remove functionality which has been in the game since the profession launched and provide no alternate way of accomplishing the task that won't take the entire 2-week period.

Castrum, open your map, and in the upper right hand corner of your map there is a magnifying glass button, click it and select show Dig Sites or something, then you will be able to see the shovels in the map, also make sure that in the minimap menu you have show digsites option selected. I don't know why if you select this option only in the minimap they don't show, it might be a client bug or something related with an addon, haven't figured out, but doing what i wrote above you will be able to see the Archaeology nodes.

Hope this helps others as i was going nuts yesterday trying to figure out why the nodes were not showing...

When they explained about Withered J'im they said it was RNG base but with bad luck protection. I assume that means each has an equal chance to spawn but if one doesn't spawn its chances getter higher and higher to spawn. So we should expect the two we haven't seen yet soon but no guarantee next week.

The archeology stuff has been working just fine for me this entire expansion save for that one in Val'sharah when the nodes weren't clickable.

i did this quest yesterday. it took about 3 hours, and the archy sites showed up woth no problem. my issue is the 2 spawn sites on the Isle of Watchers, the north one spawns in an area loaded full of 110+ elites, and the south 1 is completely bugged, murlocs constantly resetting or hiding inside of rocks.

There must be something else up with yours, because I've been digging the sites in Aszuna for the quest fine. Droprate sucks but it's there.

Had the same issue until a gm pointed me to the small magnifying glass in the top right corner of your map. Click it, select 'digsites' .. all set. No clue what made them unchecked in the first place though.

Monk with infinite roll from class hall can finish any archeaology quest in just about half an hour btw.

Yeah, I don't know why you don't have a shovel (its in your profession tab), or outlined areas (turn on show digsites from your map). I dont feel like blizz changed archaeology at all except to make it easier with the "you are standing over an artifact" which is an amazing add. So something is wrong with your archaeology, since no one else has those problems. Maybe reset your game client, try turning on those things i mentioned, or download the addon "archy" which is also amazingly helpful.

Think I could possibly make it from ~0 Revered to Exalted with the Valarjar on my Warrior during this reset?

Comment by Castrum

No shovels for me. I do have HandyNotes, but there are no more treasures on my map and still no shovels. I turned HandyNotes off as well; no change.

Well, if you check the mark for digging sites you should be able to see shovels on your map.

Did that. Oddly though, it's turning off every time I log on now it seems. When I re-activate it, nothing appears. I do have Archy, so I figured maybe that was it, but even after turning that off/not loading it with my other addons, it's still the same.

Probably an issue on your side. Try checking with AddOns disabled.

I have tried turning off everything I could fathom might be causing it. There are some addons I am quite loathe to turn off, like TitanPanel, which will reset everything. I plan on trying on a character on another server I rarely play on in a few hours.

Just tried this. It worked. I can at least see the shovels now! Thank you so much. This definitely seems like a bug. I have to re-activate Show Digsites manually every log-in.

Comment by Castrum

Also, Blizz got rid of the red outlined areas on the map a while back for some dumb reason.

The digsites were removed from the world map by Blizzard a patch or two ago.

So the Blizzard officially admits that the nonsense everyone was expecting - that you need Nighthold completed before you can use any of the other colour variants, which are all unlockable way before that btw, is true. Who in the hell designed that row? it is like needing Prestige 15 to use appearance earned by prestige 4....
