Want to bring your fan or guild site closer to our games? Then crack open a can of awesome with Battle.net's OAuth 2.0 service, which enables players to securely access your site with their Battle.net account and choose what types of data they want to view and share for a more tailored experience.
At our new API development website, dev.battle.net, you'll have access to documentation and premade authentication modules that will enable you to set up user authentication in a flash and then start incorporating Blizzard game data into your site!
The goal of dev.battle.net is to bridge the gap between fan site developers and Blizzard's web developers to create a better web experience for everyone. It's a place for all community engineers to learn and talk about Battle.net APIs (application programming interfaces) so that they can integrate their sites with the Blizzard family of games.
The site includes:
We're also planning further updates to this site, including support for profile APIs and Diablo III's ladders, along with more documentation and a support hub.
So, what exactly can you do with dev.battle.net? Here are just a few of the sites that are already using Battle.net APIs:
Head to dev.battle.net for more information, and then go create! We're excited to see what you come up with.
So far this seems like a good way to connect every thing we have in-game to our account here. Thanks for doing this.
Indeed, a good idea.
oh my god, this is insane !
Very glad you've introduced Private Profiles, thanks to this being introduced I've been able to add my Primary Characters to WoWHead!May I recommend changing the mouse over text from Show/Hide to Public/Private on the icon?
Any chance that the Wowhead addon and desktop app to upload data to the site can be incorporated in some way with this without the need to use them anymore? That way those that don't use either, but still search the site for drop locations and rates can be more reliable? A lot of the %s here are actually lower than what they really are in game due to lack of data being uploaded. Something to consider maybe for an update since they're taking a lot of the current addons and incorporating them in game as default features.
Just linked mine.
I did with my account. It work good even on EU account.
Does that means if i link my account and enter giveaway event i have bigger chanses to win ? :D
Since even the Blizzard post mentions Hearthhead, does that mean auto-importing your owned cards?
The Blizzard API doesn't extend to auto-importing cards but we've been working on other ways to automate My Collections. Hearthhead is basically an extension of Wowhead as far as site code is concerned, so it was easy for us to extend Battle.net login to that site as well.As for Show/Hide--should be a simple change, I'll see if that can get done shortly.
I guess I'll get around to making use of this..
Nice! I do wish I had a way to hide some level 1 characters I had that are actually deleted from my account. It synced characters that have been gone from my account for maybe a year? It also didn't update when I deleted some characters just now.
This has got to be one of the least secure things ever suggested with regards to Battle.net user id's and passwords. WoW. Pun intended. Seriously... this is how most accounts are compromised. You use the same information for an important website like your bank and then as well for logging into Patties Poodle Pruning for Fifi's 6 week trim. Pattie forgets to pay for her Best Buy version of Norton and gets hit by North Korean battlebots who send her information to Norway where it's split and shuffled into data-sets that are sold back from Russia to coffee shops in the Congo. FailFishAnyone doing this should have their heads looked at.
Sounds convenient, but my gut feeling tells me 'NO'...
Great news, thanks :)
Very nice :)
