Awh so this is what's displaying all those ads everywhere I go?
This is why I use adblocker. :)
Was anything in Wowhead Client?
okay stupid wowhead people, I reported this a YEAR AGO. when I got adware on my computer FROM YOUER WEBSITE. I had to reinstall windows and severely reduce my wowhead uptime. I used to leave wowhead open 24hrs a day so I always had the answer to my question at my finger tips. but after the adware I only come here if I REALLY need to, and I leave ASAP. I think I even made a post in the forum about adware and was rebuffed, like the parent of a brat denying their kid would ever do any wrong or be rude. WELL EAT IT WOWHEAD EAT IT!I feel better, brb gonna go lay down and bask in my rightness and smugly waggle my finger at you.
This is why I use adblocker. :)Same here. Can't trust ads anymore.Crap...I HATE these captcha things. Why the hell are there blurry crap ones in these things? People with vision impairments have a HELLOFA time doing these.
The Wowhead client is unaffected.
found more than 4 viruses on my computer recently, thanks to my virus remover. this explains where they came from.
The Wowhead client is unaffected.Awesome. Thanks.
I use malwarebytes premium but it got passed it :( reinstalled whole windows Could not get it removed2bad i dont have a creditcard else i would have paid for wowhead so i dont get any ads at allbut i'm glad you guys found and removed it thumbs up
Yay WoWhead is back. :D
I'm fond of ADWCleaner myself. Seems to work really well at killing Malware and browser modifications.https://toolslib.net/downloads/viewdownload/1-adwcleaner/
I assume Premium users (or those using adblockers) were not affected? Avast notified me about some Firefox addon and only displayed an application ID, no name. I let Avast deactivate it, but could find no corresponding change in the addons menu, or while manually searching the files in my FF profile.
found more than 4 viruses on my computer recently, thanks to my virus remover. this explains where they came from. This doesn't explain where they came from... I would strongly suggest getting more protection! We're transparent about when mistakes like this happen, however, four viruses does not sound related to our ads. In this case, it was a singular malware called Boaxxe which we've now furiously scrubbed from our network and will be doing due diligence to make sure it doesn't come back :)I feel like sometimes it can be hard for a website to admit there was a malware issue; people inadvertently blame all other malware in the history of the internet on the site once they do which is somewhat unfortunate. We know in this case it was one malware, we even know the name, and we have figured out how it happened--which is why we alerted people the minute we found out about it.Anyway, we're very sorry about the malware incident and will do our best to make sure it doesn't happen again. If even one of those four issues you had was caused by us, then we failed and that's unacceptable. We'll try to make up for it as much as we can. Thanks--and thanks everyone else for your patience ^_^
No ads whit Premium :)
And they still asking us to whitelist ad`s here... No. Way.
I feel sorry for all these people boasting about using adblocker, you realize the content you see on this site mainly gets paid through advertising revenue right? So the less ads are being viewed, the more chances the site will fail in the long run. I can't tell you not to use adblocker, I understand how some sites are just like wtf ads all up in your face, but at least whitelist the sites or streamers or youtubers you watch / visit on a daily basis. Just ignorant people I swear haha.
thanks for the heads up that is respectable
Adblock and premium user :) This is not the only site affected. Also in android i see a lot of sites that when you enter to a page the adds will redirect to another automaitcally without asking them and try to install an APK. Thanks that they've realised of this malware.
i am glad I am blocking all the adds:), this proves I do the right thing:).
