Sweeeeeet.Maybe now mages won't top the DPS in every single group they join.Good luck to GC for the future and everything, but damn, I was getting pretty sick of his main class being consistently overtuned patch in, patch out.
Thank the heavens. This is the best news for the game in years. I have a whole new, and much brighter, outlook for the next expansion based on this news alone.
Sad day for we the players, but something great must be on the horizon for Mr. Street. He will be missed, but I wish him the best in what lies ahead. He gave us many great years and I appreciate that and for his dialog with us.
YES! THE NERF MASTER IS GONE!
I knew he played a holy priest! That's why holy priests were so overdesigned and why holy paladins weren't allowed to have any smart heals for so long! I'm sure the community team will be happy. Ghostcrawler's forays onto the forums definitely made their job harder. As much as I enjoyed arguing with him about how stupid the holy paladin design was I really think his attempts to have a conversation with the community via the forums was bad for the game.

This is very sad, to lose an awesome blizzard guy is going to be hard to get over. He was my favorite blizzard baller.
reading this is like a funeral. It feels like a part of blizzard is dying. We will miss you more than you can imagine.
Feeling sad to hear this!Best of luck with your new job and the other things in life Ghostcrawler! I will miss you!My main, paladin tank, salutes you with respect!
Ghostcrawler leaves Blizzard? Half Life 3 confirmed.
Arthas: "Father! Is it over?"Terenas: "At long last. Not king rules forever my son."Arthas: "I see... only nerfs... before, me."Arthas dies.Terenas: Without its master's command, the restless Nerf Bat will become an even greater threat to this world. Control must be maintained. There must always be... a Ghostcrawler!"Terenas fades away.Tirion picks up the Nerf Bat.Tirion: "The weight of such a burden. It must be mine for there is no other-"Bolvar: "Tirion! You hold a grim destiny in your hands brother, but it is not your own."Tirion: "Bolvar! By all that is holy."Bolvar: "The dragon's flame... sealed my fate. The world of the living can no longer comfort me. "Place the Nerf Bat in my hand Tirion. Forever more I will be the bringer of nerfs."Tirion: "No old friend. I cannot."Bolvar: "Do it Tirion! You and these brave heroes have your own destinies to fulfill. This last act of service... is mine."Tirion: "You will not be forgotten brother."Bolvar: "I must be forgotten Tirion! If the world is to live free from the tyranny of fear, they must never know what was done here today."Tirion places the Nerf Bat in Bolvar's open palm.Bolvar: "Tell them only that Ghostcrawler is dead... and the Nerf Bat died with him! Now go! Leave this place! And never return!"You will be missed Ghostcrawler.
I've been unsubbed for most of the last year, but this news coupled with some things I've read about WoD makes me want to start playing WoW again.Seriously? Ghostcrawler leaving is a BAD thing. Not a good thing. Ghostcrawler has done an amazing job for the better part of a decade. I'm sad that we are losing him, and kind of apprehensive about what is going to happen. While Ghostcrawler was extremely valuable because of the information he provided to the community, change in positions with high control over the game can sometimes be good. Hopefully it won't be a complete loss and maybe it will invigorate some much needed change into the game.
P.S. No, you can’t have a pony. Or a moose. Or a mantis shrimp. Or a tardigrade. Or a crab. Keep trying though.Works for me, since I finally got the monkey I whined about for years. :) P.P.S. I play a Holy Priest.I knew it! Did you ever call Alleria your home realm, years ago? Or perhaps it was Terokkar I'm thinking of.Good luck on your new venture...you deserve all the success and satisfaction possible. I fear, however, that this is just the beginning of the end of an era, and worry that I will soon have to try and find another distraction to fill my days. Regardless, take care and have a good life! And so it begins...
Does that mean, that my pally will finally get buffed? ^^ Since there won't be anyone "nerfing paladins to the ground!"
Thanks for being such an integral part of such an iconic game Greg. All the very best for the future!
His spot HAS to be replaced, and fast. Not only was he great for the job, but that spot is very important and helped define how an MMO and the player base can and should connect.Best thing though? An "in your face" to everyone that thought he played a mage! xD

An "in your face" to everyone that thought he played a mage! xD I think chances are that he played most of the classes having been the lead dev on the game for the last 6+ years. He said his main was a holy priest but I'm sure he also raided on his other toons from time to time.

As much as I enjoyed arguing with him about how stupid the holy paladin design was I really think his attempts to have a conversation with the community via the forums was bad for the game.I am sorry but I couldn't disagree with you more, i think that what he has done by being involved with the community has done so much to keep the game alive. If nothing else, he gave us insight into why things were changed, and with that insight came ways to manipulate the changes in-game. He will be sorely missed, though i do have to agree that there are people here with a point, some fresh ideas might be good for the game as well, i hope that they can bring something interesting and exciting to the table. side note: very nice to actually see people voicing their opinions fairly calmly and with reason...
A real shame he's leaving. He's done a great job despite what people might think of him.I wish him the best of luck and a small thank you for giving hunters an amazing namesake pet :D.
At least you will live on with my spirit crab pet!On a serious note though, thank you for years of dedication to making my favorite game better and good luck in your future endeavors
